He does, I promise! We keep it as a treat so we don’t do too much damage to their teeth with the sweet stuff–but the boys are crazy for whipped cream. π
PhysioCatte loves cream cheese more than anything. When he hears us cutting bagels, he goes and waits in the spot where he knows we will put a little out for him.
Same. Mine doesn’t go on the counter, so I do get a bit of a please dance in the kitchen, but if the food is remotely within reach, she just sticks her face right in without asking. She’s particularly fond of sneak attacks at the kitchen table.
My Annabel does her Please Dance (actually more of an Insistent-Demand Song-and-Dance) for plain yogurt, and she always ends up getting what she wants.
Oh, dear. This is a little on point, having had a piece of pie literally knocked out of my hand just last night because it had whipped cream on it. COMET!
Am I the only one who thought, “My whip cream brings all the boys to the yard”?
Georgia, can you please, pleaseplease, post a video of Puck doing the Please Dance? That sounds so adorable.
Looks like 2 cups of cocoa are being prepared. Looks good, puts me in the mood for a cup. I , too, love Puck’s dance and Elvis’s look as he is ticked because he didn’t get the early bird special! He needs to
learn a “please” dance , too.
Since I have a dairy allergy the cats who have shared quarters with me have never been introduced to whipped cream. One of our prior felines decided that she really liked soy based “ice cream” & would sit very close & occasionally try to knock a bit off the spoon. but that was the worst of it.
This is the best comic. I just discovered it. I think my kitties would like to take a field trip to your kitchen? We do not eat whipped cream. The poor darlings.
Poor Ma’am and poor kitties. whipped topping out of an aerosol can is no where near as good (or healthy) as freshed cream whipped. Please treat yourself to fresh whipped cream on your cocoa or irish coffee, once you taste the difference you’ll never want to use a spray can again.
I wish I could include a video of Esse helping clean up whipped cream last weekend. she had it all over her whiskers and couldn’t figure out how to get it off.
All my cats over the years could hear Breyers Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream being de-lidded. None of them ever danced for it, but they learned to ninja up on any bowl not being guarded carefully enough. If you spot them before they get their nose in the bowl you get the wistful, big-eyed kitten stare until you offer it up.
Chocolate chips? Ewww! But that lovely mint ice cream will vanish until nothing but a pile of soggy chocolate chips are left.
Some have tasted other flavors, but generally they ignore it after a lick or three. I think the sweet mint cream is similar to catnip ice cream. And, there are very few brands that work. Has to be one without all the thickeners and extra sweetening, such as Breyers. Turkey Hill makes one almost identical in their “Philadelphia Style” series. Even my home-made ice cream in the summer doesn’t work; I think it’s because I don’t know the exact type of mint extract(s) to use to perfectly match.
My 3 are generally fairly polite, probably because they know that I will take a dab on my finger to each in turn, even if they are in different parts of the house. A different finger for each, thank you; they can’t lick off a finger that some other swill-kitty licked.
Our girls also have a trick known as “Pretty kitty” where they think if they sit up straight and puff their fur out and stare at you, you’ll think they are the prettiest kitty and give them some of your milk.
Daww, Puck! How could you say no to that? Do they ‘squirrel’? That’s what we call it when they sit on their hind legs to sniff or bat at something. It’s super cute!
Lol, Puck’s “Please” dance is just so mesmerizing and pleasing that it took a couple of read through’s before i realized that Elvis was most definitely reporting the truth and yep there’s the back of his head in panels 2 and 4 while he watches the whipped cream and Puck does his thing.
It’s the little details like that that help make BCN even more special than it already is π
Hello Georgia, I found your comic about a month ago after it was referenced on gocomics.com, and I spent a day (at work) binge-reading everything here. I love your artwork! (It’s obvious you put a lot of time and creativity in making the paintings so beautiful. I love the kitties!
I grew up with kitties but alas! My husband is allergic (“you have me, why would you want a cat?”). The “spin-hop-purr” dance is awesome! My family had two white kitties (Fluffy and Princess”)when I was really little, and then we took in a stray tabby (Misty) when I was in college and got two more tabbies (Amber — she had a bit of orange on her head, and Frosty — a bit of white) and a big black kitty (Brutus — with a white spot on the neck, like a Roman collar on a priest).
Anyway, I’ve been meaning to tell you how much I really like your work. I think my favorite was “The woman has a hairball” — how nice of the kitties to take care of you!
Kind regards, JoAnn
Ha! One of our cats shows absolutely no interest in human food, but the other one thinks he is, in fact, a human during all meal times. It doesn’t surprise me when he begs for fried chicken or deli meat, but he also goes after pizza crusts, poptarts, and cookie dough ice cream. We aren’t sure why.
Georgia, I have to say that I am truly grateful for your comic. Sharing the antics of the CN News crew with such wonderful artwork has never failed to brighten my day. I’m currently dealing with the possible spread of my breast cancer to my spleen and spine and to say some days are rough would be an understatement. But all I need to do is just check out a few strips of the boys being their adorable selves, and I find myself smiling no matter what sort of day I’d been having. That is a gift for which I can never fully describe how grateful I am, so thank you for working so hard to share these with us all. I know I can’t possibly be the only one whose days are immeasurably brightened by Breaking Cat News and its investigative reporters’ adventures – thank you! π
I am so, so glad that the comic can brighten your days right now, Christina! (And the boys would be glad to know, I’m sure, and offer many cat cuddles and to be the little spoons at such a time!) Much comfort, strength, and healing to you!!!
My cat Whee runs to the kitchen when I open the pack of COFFEE, as he knows whipped cream will probably follow. His disgusted face when I don’t have cream on my coffee is priceless π
Whipped Cream! It brings out all the boys! π
“My whipped cream is better than yours! Yeah, my cream is better than yours…”
As if one could keep Puck off the countertop… love Elvis’ expression in the last panel!
This is so my kitties!
Oh, I hope Pucky gets a taste of the whipped cream – with that lovely Please Dance he deserves it!
Love Puck’s face in panel 5!! My kitties would have a face in the whipped cream by now
Same. Mine doesn’t go on the counter, so I do get a bit of a please dance in the kitchen, but if the food is remotely within reach, she just sticks her face right in without asking. She’s particularly fond of sneak attacks at the kitchen table.
The almost hypnotic eyes are great!
This is exactly my cats and the tuna fish!
I love Puck’s “Please dance!” I find it very pleasing.
Sweet Pucky!
My Annabel does her Please Dance (actually more of an Insistent-Demand Song-and-Dance) for plain yogurt, and she always ends up getting what she wants.
Pucky panel 5 so cute, love his mesmerised eyes in panel 3 too π
Oh, dear. This is a little on point, having had a piece of pie literally knocked out of my hand just last night because it had whipped cream on it. COMET!
Here I am reading the comments to one of my favourite comics and Greta Christina herself appears! π
*waves* π
Am I the only one who thought, “My whip cream brings all the boys to the yard”?
Georgia, can you please, pleaseplease, post a video of Puck doing the Please Dance? That sounds so adorable.
Hahaha!!! That is going to be in my head ALL DAY!! And I will, I promise! Ham should do the trick… He always does this dance for ham!
Oh, goodie! I was going to request the same thing.
Your dance…it pleases me.
I am doing my please dance! Hop hop skip
Both our boys love whipped cream, and Elwood is also fond of vanilla ice cream. Happy Purr-sidents Day to everyone today!

The dog, on the other handβ¦
Puck once again shows his uncanny balancing abilities π
Right? Real-life Puck gets to use three legs. BCN Puck must often use two or even one (and his tail, I guess).
Superb. This is your funniest one yet. I want an ‘Elvis’ cat. Will you be offering a cloning service?
Haha!! I wish we could, he is most definitely one of a kind though!
This is the best comic. I just discovered it. I think my kitties would like to take a field trip to your kitchen? We do not eat whipped cream. The poor darlings.
I love how Puck is working so hard to earn that whipped cream and Elvis is just all “gimme.”

Lupin and Elvis do, but only at each other! (Playfully!) Ha!!

Thank you, JoAnn! I hope these kitties can serve as surrogate kitties for you!!!
