Hello, everyone! Believe it or not, this is the 100th ‘Breaking Cat News’ strip!!! Thank you so much for reading this comic, here’s to many, many hundreds more I hope!
Readers have been asking if I will be stopping the strip when the new baby arrives. I will likely be taking a brief pause–a maternity break, really, to welcome the new baby home and give her the attention she’ll need those first few sleepless weeks. (And let’s be honest, as hilarious as it would be to try and write the comic on no sleep, it’s probably best to wait until the fog clears, ha! Or it could quickly turn into headlines like, “what’s the deal with the color green, right? Where am I–“) However, I promise you, the comic WILL be continuing after a brief maternity break! And will continue like clockwork on GoComics the whole time, as those comics run on this site’s archive. This should even give GoComics and this site a chance to bridge the gap a little! As long as the baby cooperates, there will be new strips all through March and the break will begin the first week of April. If anything changes, or she decides to make her grand entrance early, I (or the Man posting for me) will keep you all updated!
But I promise, the comic will continue! I love creating ‘Breaking Cat News’ for all of you, and I hope very much to do it for as long as I can! π Thank you so much to everyone who has been here for all 100 strips so far, to everyone who has gone back to catch up, and everyone who has joined us along the way! I wish there was a way to let our boys know how loved they are, we try to tell them as often as we can! Thank you, thank you!!!
Here’s an advance welcome to your new baby girl! What a lucky one she is, with 5 “boys” to spoil her! Best of luck Georgia.
Your passion for creating BCN really comes through and that’s why we love it so much! Congratulations on your 100th strip and I’ll join you in toasting to many, many more!
These strips are just perfect. The best things I’ve seen in years, combining concise wit and expressive illustration. I have three boy cats and I see elements of them all in Puck, Lupin and Elvis.
Congratulations!!!! And thank you for 100 great strips! I look forward to every one of them! Take care of yourself and the new baby–we’ll just have to wait till you’re able to get back to it. Hope the boys can handle another human to take care of! : )
Yay Georgina, I wish you and your whole family a lot of love, support and luck with the newest edition! Thank you for all your wonderful comics, they’ve been wonderful.
Congratulations on the 100 mark! We have loved BCN since GoComics introduced us to it. We look forward to every Monday and Thursday as benchmarks for our week. Thank you, the Man and Baby, an the boys of course.
I have resisted the urge to read all the strips in the archive here; that way, the strips at GoComics are “new to me”. Take the time you need, and I am sure all of us here look forward to seeing The New Baby become a news topic for our favorite cats!
Congratulations on both – 100 strips and impending sleeplessness! π
One of our boys has an attraction to socks… on feet. He doesn’t just rub up against your ankles, he wants to make sure that your foot bones are all absolutely in order, and that your toes have sensation…
I always need ankle reinforcement. Best wishes to you all. Congrats on 100 strips, that must feel great. Is there a chance while you are on your much needed break your first strips could run again? That too would be wonderful.
Congratulations on 100 strips – quite an achievement, especially with a Man, a Baby and 3 Boys to handle! With a new Baby soon to be added, I hope you’ll have the brain-power and strength to do another 100 when you return to the strip! Love all that I’ve seen (haven’t seen them all yet, not quite) and look forward to seeing more…. (Oh, and Pucky’s “you have value” just makes me feel warm all over!)
Since we live in an apartment and there aren’t any stairs, my cat feels that positive ankle reinforcement is best delivered when I’m carrying a laundry hamper or other item that blocks my view of my feet. She has also come to the conclusion that bedtime requires extra special ankle reinforcement, involving her teeth…
Congrats on the impending arrival of the new baby! I’m looking forward to seeing how the Boys react to having another one in the house!
I would also like to add my “Congratulations” on making the 100 mark! I look forward to the next 100 and more. But I can wait until you have rested up from the new baby. I truly wish everything turns out purrrr-fectly.
@ Georgia: Congrats to you on your 100th Strip! I like your work and my brother and I enjoy them a lot. When I read them I try and make the voices of each of your boys, especially Elvis who I love to do. Keep up the good work! Here’s hoping for another 100 purr-fect strips!
When I read ‘Studies Show’ I like to think that somewhere there is a Cat News Lab with Kitty versions of Bunsen and Honeydew doing serious cat science.
Congrats on the 1st 100 and I can’t wait to read the next 100 and beyond. We will just have to cool our jets while you bond with your latest addition as well you should. Here’s to a beautiful delivery and baby girl. It’s about time you got some more females to back you up!
I’d like to ask his highness, Elvis, why cats feel the need to run ahead of me and then (inexplicably) come to a complete STOP?!? It’s not like I’ve reached their destination of choice– ie the food bowls. (I perceive this behavior as a trip hazard… Not sure how cats see this activity.)
Congratulations on 100th strip, first anniversary of Breaking Cat News, and the upcoming addition to your family! Best wishes to all of you, and many head-scritches to the intrepid cat reporters.
Georgia,
Thank you for 100 wonderful reports that made us smile and squee and sometimes hold our breath in anticipation but always brightened our lives.
Here’s to many more and a wonderful new addition to the family!
Puck – panel 5 – is a purrfect depiction of my cat. And if the ankle reinforcement doesn’t get him the attention he seeks, he will very kindly work his front paws up my leg and massage my thighs! It’s most thoughtful of him to work the kinks out of my muscles that way. π
And a HUGE CONGRATS on reaching your 100th news broadcast! I am so glad I found your wonderful team of ace reporters!
Congratulations for both happy events! Thank you for the happiness you bring. (Minx gives me so much ankle reinforcement at inopportune times that we’re lucky I haven’t fallen & crushed her.)
I regularly get ankle reinforcement every time I walk down the hall to the bathroom (which, apparently, I am incapable of using alone).
Congratulations on your 100th strip! You make me look forward to Mondays to see what hijinks the boys are up to. Best wishes for the remainder of your pregnancy and the arrival of your little girl!
I only get “ankle reinforcement” in the kitchen. Where the food is kept. If only I could make them understand that they’d get fed faster if I didn’t have to be so careful not to trip on them, or to step on any little furry toes.
Congrats on reaching 100 strips! I look forward to reading 100 more!
First Congratulations on the Blessed Event
Second As a devoted cat person for 50 years I must tell you the joy
you have given me with this strip. I realize you will be very busy but
cats and babies are a real source of great humor
Third, Your work is pure genius Really and your insight into your furry
family is wonderful I read your strip to my husband and our
5 cat family every day your put out a new one. We are hungry for more
thank you
After millenia of intense study, and experimentation with humankind, cats have become the masters of behaviour training and positive re inforcement. Why study psychology when you can have cats …… they are fluffier too
Hey Georgia, I volunteer at an animal shelter once a week. We often get stray cats in that are utterly terrified of people. It is amazing that usually in about a month they are wrapping themselves around human ankles like they’ve been doing it all their lives. Totally a cat thing! I will miss your wonderful strip while you are enjoying your new human addition and all the incurring adjustments. You are gifted at translating cat and human behaviour into something wonderfully silly and it often hits me right in the heart. Many thanks and congrats!
Dear Sweet Girl: your portrayal of the three tenors (the cats) has been exceptional. Sorry but I do see a similarity (guess because I love classical music and cats!) We will all miss you, but totally understand there are priorities like new babies. I’m sure your “lying in” as it was called a long time ago will give you time to come up with any number of new scenarios for the three boys and your growing family.
Panel #6 was Tycho. He was a neighborhood cat who’d meet me on the sidewalk at the end of the day and run between my ankles as I walked to my apartment. He’d talk all the way, and would only interrupt himself when he’d jump when I caught him with my toe — yes, he really seemed to think it was fun to try to trip me! Needless to say, I fed him anyway, though his first love was the toddler next door who’d haul him around like an oversized stuffed animal. I think that he was part Maine Coon, which is where I got my love for them.

I really love your comic. Good luck with the baby!

Best wishes for a happy birth and homecoming. Does panel 6 imply we’ll have a cliff-hanger when you go on maternity leave?
HAHAHA!!! It should, that’s great! (And thank you!)
Congratulations on both – 100 strips and impending sleeplessness! π

He will be two in April! On Earth Day, actually, he was born April 22nd π
Congrats on 100 delightful strips!

Congratulations on both of your creative projectsββBreaking Cat Newsβ 100th strip and your upcoming addition to your family!
While it will be hard to wait for new strips during your maternity hiatus, Iβll revisit the already-published strips again and again.
P.S. Thank you for the happy feeling every time I get an e-mail notification that youβve published a new strip!
P.P.S. My husband always comes to my computer and reads over my shoulder whenever I tell him there’s a new strip.
I love this one!
Since you’ll be taking a break, you should have some guest strips!
