What a perfectly beautiful end to this story! Thank you for a very cute Christmas Special. I enjoyed every bit, the happy and sad as I knew it would all end well. Merry Christmas to the cutest cat reporters ever and to their people too. 🙂
The best part of this last installment – Tommy getting his own CN mike (and of course going home). <3
Thank you for the happy ending! It’s a perfect story for Christmas Eve and you told it so beautifully. Merry Christmas to you and the Man and your three intrepid reporters. BREAKING CAT NEWS is truly a gift!
Thank you so, so much everyone who has tuned into the Christmas special! I hope you’ve all enjoyed it, and I hope you like the ending! Merry Christmas! Or, if Christmas is not the holiday you celebrate, I hope you have a very joyful holiday! Or, if you don’t celebrate any holiday, I wish you an excellent Thursday tomorrow! May the rest of the year be safe and happy for everyone, and here’s to a great 2015!
Well, this is an excellent ending to a story that we (my wife and I) have been following very closely and greatly enjoyed. We love Tommy, and it’s encouraging to think that we will see more of him.
Did the coat in the greenhouse actually belong to Tommy’s Woman? It seemed unlikely that he was actually in his People’s backyard, but the coat seemed significant.
Thank you, John!! I’m glad you and your wife enjoyed it! The coat was meant to be similar to his Woman’s real coat, but not the same. I had hoped it would get people wondering, though!
Merry Christmas (and Thursday) to the whole BCN family! Thank you for an emotionally exhausting few weeks, Georgia xx I look forward to more in-depth reporting in the New Year xxxx
Totally not crying over a beautiful drawing of a happy fat cat with a tiny microphone. Totally. Thank you, Georgia, for sharing your little family with us. Merry Christmas.
I am SO VERY HAPPY for little TOMMY!!!!!! He is with his family now!!!! Safe and sound!!! What a darling little story. I look so forward to Breaking Cat News!!!!!! What a BEAUTIFUL ENDING to this story!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ll just echo all the comments here and say Thank You! for a very enjoyable Christmas special and for a wonderful ending! Merry Christmas to you, the Man, the Baby, and of course the boys!
Not crying…nope! None of us over here are crying! Just got dust in our eyes! Thank you, Georgia! That was a beautiful Christmas present to us all! Merry Christmas to you and your family!!!! Hugs!!!!
Thank you so much for all you’ve done for “homeless” cats and for providing us with such a heartwarming story at this special time of year.
I was soooo wrong about Tommy. I’m so glad he’ll be reporting, too. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Looking forward to BCN in 2-15!!!
As I sit at work, this brings tears to my eyes, thank you so much for this Christmas tale (well many tails). Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your family!
Whee!!!! I’m literally bouncing in my chair here!!!!!!!! And it’s funny how dusty it’s suddenly gotten dusty in here! (And that’s the story ofwhy my eyes are wet, and I’m sticking to it!) Merry Christmas!!!
This was GREAT. And yes, my eyes are watering, too, dammit. Lots of love to you and your family (human and otherwise) this Christmas, Georgia! Thanks for the wonderful story!
Thank you for a lovely story. I am glad we have a way to keep up with Tommy now that he is a part of the newsteam. Can’t wait for you to put this all in a book. BTW, got a kitten this year so NO Christmas tree at all. 🙁 She is too destructive. You were brave to put one up for kitten Elvis.
Absolutely terrific wrap up to this story! Every panel was a joy to read and the details like Tommy in panel 4 saying he knew cage boxes tricks, and the reactions of Lupin and Puck to Tommy and to Elvis’s saying, “I think you’ve been wrong about Tommy” as if Elvis wasn’t the most freaked out about Tommy in the back yard, cracked me up! I’m so looking forward to new adventures in cat news!
I for one cannot wait to see the kinds of things Tommy would report on. I have a feeling he does the “human interest” stories. Or I guess, feline interest.
That panel with elvis gift giving….so beautiful….your Christmas story, the message, it’s spirit, so perfect. thanks Georgia, Man, and boys. We send blessings your way, too.
PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT!!! Oh this was so wonderful, thank you so much for sharing your talents and your family with us, Georgia! I can’t tell you how attached I’ve grown to all of you. Merry Christmas and a very Happy 2015!!!!!!
Beautiful! The panel where Tommy and his Woman spot each other is a brilliant, emotional suspension of time. I’ve so enjoyed following this story (and the whole comic of course), and yes, my eyes are leaking too! Thank you, and a happy season to you and your family, furry and not!
Well this was just a perfect end to the story! Love the little details like Puck and Lupin’s festive drinks in the first panel and the longshot of Tommy and his Woman – so lovely! Happy Christmas everyone!
Can’t really add anything to what your wonderful readers have already said. Just, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, Georgia – a lovely, heartfelt, perfect ending to a bang-on storyline. Happy holidays, and here’s to a wonderful 2014!
Yay for happy endings! And I think that “Ha, ha! Not today, cage-box! I know your tricks!” is how I will narrate my cat’s reaction to the carrier from now on.
What a wonderful conclusion!
Even while being heroic Elvis is still Elvis. The looks on Lupin’s and Puck’s faces say that they know he is being silly but they are far too happy he is home to call him on it. “I think you were wrong about him.” indeed.
And now CN news has a foreign correspondent!
PLEASE MAKE HIM THE WEATHER MAN NOW! You know since he has an mic now. I nearly squealed but I am trying to make my baby go to sleep so I had to make it as quiet as possible. Best comic ever!
I wasn’t expecting this update so soon. Thank you. I’m weepy over it too (although for me the most tear-inducing moment was Elvis’ “Time to be a good boy!” a few days ago.) This has been such a wonderful story. If you ever do a Breaking Cat News graphic novel, I am buying copies for all my family members.
Yay!! This was the only Christmas Special I “watched” this season. Loved it. I have told a number of friends about this comic and website. Merry Christmas!!
I thought so! Tommy/Willard/Al will be reporting the weather, and sending birthday greetings to 20-year-old cats, from his woman’s house! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I’m just starting to notice the details (must have had something in my eye there). Frame 1: candy canes sticking out of whipped cream in the BCN mugs. Also, are these done in watercolor? Perhaps on a smooth board of some kind?
They are done with watercolors, thank you for noticing! Currently they are done on any paper I have (watercolor paper does not work for the letting/small details of these, but I use it otherwise for illustrating).
We’ve lost two kitties in the past two years because they got out, but they were not as outside-savvy as Tommy. I was so glad that he got a happy ending!
Georgia, I think you just cleaned out everyone’s tear ducts and we didn’t even use Tabasco.
You have a real gift of expressing easily and eloquently how much joy our little furry family members bring us, and how much they add to our lives. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Wow, thank you so much everyone!!! I am delighted that this story was enjoyed so much! (I will have to start brainstorming early for next year’s Christmas special, ha!) Merry Christmas each and every one of you, and your families and your kitties, and all whom you care about and shared the day with! Our boys enjoyed their day, and we had to postpone our ham dinner (for good reasons, there was much time to be spent with family! This was our first Christmas back home in RI in 5 years) and so… Ham is tonight! To Puck’s immediate celebration!
Never fear, I’m going to do my best to honor that exact Tommy during future broadcasts. I enjoyed bringing his story into the comic for Christmas, but bouncy, unflappable, and slightly-but-endearingly-obnoxious Tommy will always reign supreme!
My kitties (with the possible help of my boyfriend) gave me a Breaking Cat News morning news desk print for Christmas!! Yay! It was tops on my wishlist!
They would! I tried to think up a way to include them in this special, but it was hard to add them into the story without sort of forcing them in there. Perhaps the next Christmas special!
This one hit really close to home for me. My bottle-fed foundling Loki was missing for 3 long years. He had a terrible tendency for infections in small cuts and I’d given up on him surviving so long, much less even seeing him again…
Then a friend who worked in the area we’d moved out of was telling us about this big grey cat who came by the gas station every evening and customers would buy him cans of cat food. She managed to get a picture and good god, it was my Loki. We started asking around and found out he was making a circuit of the restaurants and bars on the main street there and everyone knew him.
The owner of one of the smaller places was a cat lover and actually helped us catch him. She had been feeding him, she’d ran out in front of a truck to protect him….
He’s home now and has been for a few years, but that moment when I got the call that the lady had him caught in the employee bathroom, running down there to get him…and then opening the door and calling his name and picking him up. Everyone said it was amazing, he’d never let anyone else touch him or pick him up while he was in the area.
So…this comic, that moment of reunion just twisted a knife in my heart. It’s a good pain though. And something to remember to be thankful for around Christmas.
Really love the picture of tommy and his woman looking at each other across the yard. And lupins look when Elvis says I think you were wrong about Tommy
It has been a wonderful story!
Every once in a while, I’ll reread this comic from beginning to current. This is probably the 4th or 5th time I’ve read this story arc and I cry EVERY FREAKING TIME.
This is the strip is on GoComics today. I always get a major case of the Feels when I read this one. Seeing Tommy reunited with his Woman… I’m not crying, you’re crying.
And possibly my favorite BCN moment of all time (top 5 for sure) is in this strip. ” Nibble, nibble… I love kibble!”
I am so happy that Elvis helped find Tommy’s people! I knew he was a big mush under his curmudgeony exterior! I’m a new fan of Breaking Cat News and I love the humor and the insightful observations of both the cats and the artist. I am proudly cat-owned by a rescued Main Coon.
Oh my cats & kittens! Georgia, thank you! It’s the best daily comic strip. Love “Mutts” but oh the purrrrrsonalities of your little newskitts! Aunt Cat Whisperer has met her match!
I was rereading this for Christmas in July, and I got to wondering. When Tommy appeared in the back yard of their original apartment, was that before he got lost? Then after he got lost, when he found the boys in their new place, did it remind him of home so that’s why he stayed around that block? This is my all time favorite series of BCN so far. I’m hoping to see the re-imagined version of it this Christmas season.
In my mind, Tommy has been lost for a while and the People only moved a few blocks over–closer to Tommy’s ‘home base.’ It is interesting to think that maybe he was not lost in the beginning though! I think that he definitely looks in on their home because it reminds him of being part of a home/family.
How perfect to find this at this time of year!! You are awesome and we love your stories! Especially since we have 3 little reporters of our own! BUT – please, please PLEASE release another book!! One is simply not enough! 🙂 Happy Holidays to all of your family – 2 feet, 3 feet or 4!!
YES! YES !
I am crying.
totally crying my eyes out!!! So happy for Tommy! Merry Christmas to you and your family Georgia and all you readers out there 🙂
What a perfectly beautiful end to this story!
Woo hoo! Tommy will be reporting
This has brought a little tear to the eye! Merry Christmas!
Thank you so much for sharing your talent, and cats, with us. Happy Holidays to you and yours! All good wishes, Susan
Thank you for the happy ending! It’s a perfect story for Christmas Eve and you told it so beautifully. Merry Christmas to you and the Man and your three intrepid reporters. BREAKING CAT NEWS is truly a gift!
Beautifully done 🙂
PURRFECT!!!!!
Perfect! Thank you, Georgia, for a wonderful Christmas gift.
Thank you, Georgia – this was the greatest ending! I can’t believe how wrapped up in this I got! Merry Christmas to you and your whole family!
Oh, how absolutely wonderful! Thank you so much for doing this. Every time I think it can’t get better, and then it does. You are amazing.
Merry Christmas to you and yours, and may your new year be better than the old, always.
I’m not crying. I just have something in my eye. Like a twig. Or a branch.
Perfect.
MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE!!
*sniffle sob sniffle* I’m so HAPPY!!!!!!!

…the best Christmas story, ever and no one will shoot his eye out!
Not crying…nope! None of us over here are crying! Just got dust in our eyes! Thank you, Georgia! That was a beautiful Christmas present to us all! Merry Christmas to you and your family!!!! Hugs!!!!
Yay! A purrrfect happy ending!
Yay!!! Thank you, Elaine!!!
My mom finally commented!!! 🙂 Love to you and your boys, for (or three) and two-legged. (And the little girl to be!)
This is EXACTLY what I wanted for Christmas. Merry Christmas to you and the gang, Georgia!
As I sit at work, this brings tears to my eyes, thank you so much for this Christmas tale (well many tails). Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your family!
Not crying, just, er, allergic to cats, er…or Christmas trees…and egg nog. Yeah, that’s it!
Looking forward to many more holiday specials. =)
It took me awhile to read beyond Tommy’s “knead, knead, knead…” I have so looked forward to each installment! Georgia, you are one talented cat woman.
Whee!!!! I’m literally bouncing in my chair here!!!!!!!! And it’s funny how dusty it’s suddenly gotten dusty in here! (And that’s the story ofwhy my eyes are wet, and I’m sticking to it!) Merry Christmas!!!
alan, kudoes. best reason ever!! dusty, yeah, that’s it, dusty…sniff, blink, blink!
Love it!
merry Christmas to you and the CN crew
Wonderful Xmas special! I love BCN 🙂 Merry Christmas!
This was GREAT. And yes, my eyes are watering, too, dammit. Lots of love to you and your family (human and otherwise) this Christmas, Georgia! Thanks for the wonderful story!
Oh my god Lupin trying to protect Puck WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME
Thank you for a lovely story. I am glad we have a way to keep up with Tommy now that he is a part of the newsteam. Can’t wait for you to put this all in a book. BTW, got a kitten this year so NO Christmas tree at all. 🙁 She is too destructive. You were brave to put one up for kitten Elvis.

Dammt, I’m in tears right now. Merry Christmas!
This was awesome.
That was completely adorable! I’m so happy for Tommy and his person, and congrats to the whole news team for a job well done.
Merry Christmas and thanks for the comic!
BEST.CHRISTMAS SPECIAL. EVER!
Holy crap, why am I crying over a microphone?!
Thank you for such a wonderful Christmas story! I hope you and your family and ALL BCN reporters enjoy a wonderful, warm, and safe holiday!
A wonderful ending and we get a new correspondent!! Thank you so much for this comic, look forward to each and every one
I have tears running down my face. Thank you for this moment of pure joy.
I for one cannot wait to see the kinds of things Tommy would report on. I have a feeling he does the “human interest” stories. Or I guess, feline interest.
So happy! Oh, my eyes are leaking.
Hooray for Tommy, the new addition to the CN News team!
*squeeeee!* 😀
Happy holidays to all the kitties of CN!
YAY! Happy Christmas comic! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!
Meowsers! Purrfect ending…Meowry Christmas to all, and to all a Good Night!
Perfect little Elvis touch there — “I don’t know how to tell you this; I think *you* were wrong about Tommy.”
What a beautiful, heartwarming story! Yay for Tommy!
Beautiful! The panel where Tommy and his Woman spot each other is a brilliant, emotional suspension of time. I’ve so enjoyed following this story (and the whole comic of course), and yes, my eyes are leaking too! Thank you, and a happy season to you and your family, furry and not!
Does this mean a change to the Meet our Reporters tab is in order?
Well this was just a perfect end to the story! Love the little details like Puck and Lupin’s festive drinks in the first panel and the longshot of Tommy and his Woman – so lovely! Happy Christmas everyone!
I am so happy to see this! I was hoping this is how it would end. <3 Merry Christmas!!
Can’t really add anything to what your wonderful readers have already said. Just, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, Georgia – a lovely, heartfelt, perfect ending to a bang-on storyline. Happy holidays, and here’s to a wonderful 2014!

,,,and they all lived happily after…But don’t stop, we are hooked.
Oh! two more till the New Year I can’t wait, but I will, of course (-;
PLEASE MAKE HIM THE WEATHER MAN NOW! You know since he has an mic now. I nearly squealed but I am trying to make my baby go to sleep so I had to make it as quiet as possible. Best comic ever!

I heartily agree! GoComics, were looking at you!
Merry Christmas!
I am totally crying. So much happy
Yup, teary eyes here too. So happy Tommy made it home safe and sound.
I’m so glad to see Tommy reunited with his Woman. I’m glad he’ll still be able to visit and be part of the comic. Sniffle.
Seeing Tommy go home….*sniff*
Seeing Tommy with his own BCN microphone..
Meow-sic to my ears…
Btw, I can see Elvis chasing after Tommy…
“YOU FORGOT YOUR SNOW CAP!!!”
Merry Christmas to all and hoping we
can see a 2015 BCN wall calendar!!
I think you’ve gone and set the bar awfully high. I can’t wait to see how you top this one. 🙂
I AM CRYING. THIS IS PERFECT. He got his Woman and his home and friends and a microphone of his own and I am so happy right now.
Hooray! Tommy’s home! I’m crying now.
Yay!! Tommy is going back home!! This comic made my eyes water from happiness… Love these cat comics!! Great job, Merry Christmas!!
Oh my goodness, I’m actually crying.
We’ve lost two kitties in the past two years because they got out, but they were not as outside-savvy as Tommy. I was so glad that he got a happy ending!
Happy Christmas to the pawsome foursome, all fur one and one fur all x
This is soooooo purrrrrrrfect! Love BCN! Thanks, Georgia . . . And a very Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Yay Tommy joins the reporting staff! \o/
Tommy got a microphone! Yea!
Breaking Cat News now has a foreign correspondent!
soooo kind, so cute!
Merry Christmas to everybody!
waited a whole day to read this – worth the wait <3
thanks for all the feels!
Georgia, I think you just cleaned out everyone’s tear ducts and we didn’t even use Tabasco.
You have a real gift of expressing easily and eloquently how much joy our little furry family members bring us, and how much they add to our lives. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Merry Christmas, and thank you for this lovely series!
Merry Catmas to you, the man, the baby, Lupin, Elvis, Puck, Tommy, his woman, & the cats in the ceiling.
Thanks to this wonderful story we named our new rescue cat Tommyboy!
That is awesome!!!! Thank you, Dorothy!
Wow. A tiny microphone! As an ex-newsperson myself, this comic continues to delight.
<3
Not gonna cry, not gonna cry, not gonna cry, it’s cool, I’m not crying…
*Tommy pulls out CN mic*
BAWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! *sniffle*
you made me go “d’awwww”, with the whole arm-wavey. Thanks, I needed that
I would watch this on TV as a Christmas special every single year. It’s that well done.
I have no words for this beautiful end to a wonderful story. Well done!{:
I sort-of preferred goofy, unaccepted-but-un-bouncable, backstory-free Tommy-in-the-window.
That is excellent!! I’m so glad they did, please thank them for me!
EEEEEEEEE! This Christmas saga was the best present EVER! Tommy got his family back AND his own mike! I have tears in my eyes right now.
Also, Elvis’ “you guys were wrong about him” totally cracked me up. SO ELVIS! NEVER APOLOGIZE! XD
Thank you for this wonderful web comic, and a Merry Christmas to you and all your boys.
Awww, the little paws waving–so cute! Now I want a CN flag for my VO microphone! 🙂
Lovely story, thank you very much! How do the upstairs cats feel about Christmas? Will they receive gifts from Three Kings/Wisemen?
They would! I tried to think up a way to include them in this special, but it was hard to add them into the story without sort of forcing them in there. Perhaps the next Christmas special!
Awwww…… 😉
Wonderful ending! As well as a new beginning for Tommy as a CN remote correspondent!
I think the Ceiling Cats should be featured in the New Year’s Day Strip! 🙂
My children and I love your Breaking Cat News so very much! Keep up your wonderful work. Happy Holidays from the Florida Beach kitties.
So…this comic, that moment of reunion just twisted a knife in my heart. It’s a good pain though. And something to remember to be thankful for around Christmas.
That’s an incredible story! And I’m so glad it had a happy ending for you and Loki! And hooray to everyone who was looking out for him along the way!
Really love the picture of tommy and his woman looking at each other across the yard. And lupins look when Elvis says I think you were wrong about Tommy
It has been a wonderful story!
I’ve read and reread these strips so many times. This Christmas special makes me tear up EVERY time!
did it really happen?
Is this part
True? I’m guessing it’s not but is it?
🙂
Any chance the third last panel could be made into a mug?
Perhaps!! I may create a few Christmas items from this special, this December. 🙂
What a beautiful story. Loved it. Thank you.
You’re welcome, thank you for enjoying it!
Every once in a while, I’ll reread this comic from beginning to current. This is probably the 4th or 5th time I’ve read this story arc and I cry EVERY FREAKING TIME.
So true. My Woman is re-reading this AGAIN and she’s making those funny snuffle noises and pawing at her eyes. OY! Don’t drip on me, I”m leaving now!
This strip has become my go-to thing to read when the world is very, very dark. And the world is often very, very dark.
So thank you so, so much for sharing this with us.
The last two strips are some of my favorites when I’m feeling congested. Cuz a really good cry clears out my sinuses.
And to all, a good night!
Thank you, Miss Dove! I’m glad you enjoy it!
Thank you, Nancy! I hope to have some good news on that front in the new year! 😉
This was a beautiful ending. I almost cried the first time I read this.
