Just pulled up in the car this minute, also lost would you believe (but no snow) when I got this horrific news ………. thank goodness for Tommy.
Now if I could find my own guardian angel I’d be fine.
Hi Rene, thank you, I managed to find my way, and bizarrely, and this is true, I was on my way to a fundraising event for Cats Protection, a cat re-homing charity in UK. My only excuse is that it was very dark and I could hardly see a thing. Poor Elvis’s situation shone a light and hope into my plight. We all need a Tommy sometimes 🙂
Aw… somebody save him! I remember when my siamese, Yankee, got away, found him so much scared of everything a few minutes after, that he tried to run away even from me. Really, a world outside is a scary place for unprepared cat. Good thing Elvis at least have someone familiar.
Brilliant. Just brilliant. “If he were here he’d be so angry.” Oh my, the boys are soooo upset. And poor Elvis, holding his tail like the cowardly lion. But just when you think all hope is gone – TOMMY! Happy, chubby, friendly Tommy!
While the temporary alliance of Tommy and any feline member of your household would be a Christmas miracle and the story I’d most like to read, I can’t help but think this arc must end with your fuzzies co-opted into a PSA about the importance of ID collars. Elvis will certainly hate one enough to be entertaining for those of us who get coal in our stockings. 😉
My heart was aching all through this comic until that very last panel, and now I’m howling with laughter! Bless you, Tommy, for making everything better. I wanted to cry at Puck’s and Lupin’s sad little faces, but they were too funny, knowing that Elvis himself would be disgusted with the situation if only he were there. Congrats on a great job skating the line between pathos and hilarity in what is every pet owner’s nightmare.
Poor lost, hungry Elvis. Maybe Tommy has some treats in his parka. 😉
Ok…I know it’s a bit crazy, but I near to have tears in my eyes! (yes, I know it’s a comic stip, but having been there with a real kitty I know what it feels like for real)
I am now counting the days to the next strip, I hope Elvis gets home VERY soon!!
Sad Elvis is breaking my heart, especially with his Cowardly Lion tail-holding
I love the happy little household of cats in your strip. The only concern my older cat (Buddy) exhibits when the young one (Miss Amelia Pond) manages to run outside unescorted is a concern that I’ll find her and bring her back inside. One year and he still just doesn’t like her very much.
Yay! Tommy!
Georgia, the emotion you capture with your paintings is brilliant. Elvis in Panel 9 – Big, Bad Elvis has never looked so vulnerable. Thank you for sharing your gift; you bring such joy to so many people.
Neighbor found a stray cat this week, & the beastlet was electronically tagged so that she was able to deliver the cat to its proper people & food bowl.
Turns out that the cat had wandered some 5 miles in one night.
Hooray for Tommy! When Miss Nina did her walkabout, we recruited the postal carriers and the local Dept. of Public Works folks, as they covered the town on a regular basis, and a surprising number are also cat people!
We have a license law in our town, so the girls are on record with Town Hall (Yes, even indoor cats need licenses, the same way they need appropriate shots and heartworm treatment!)
In retrospect, I doubt Miss Nina went all that far from home…Stayed up with the door propped open for the next two nights, and she came in when she got hungry enough, had her kibble, curled up and went to sleep! What a typical cat thing to do!
I foresee Elvis having to visit Tommy’s home and accept Tommy’s kibble and OH THE HUMANITY OF IT ALL.
Georgia, my partner found this strip a few months back and we have already spread it far and wide among our family & friends, picked up little catch-phrases, and the like. Elvis’ presentation of “The Facts” about the expensive cat-food is on my cube wall at work. (As a technical writer that especially tickles me.)
My cat Cait Sith loses his mind when he gets outside. he’s so scared it’s awful. He turns into a quivering mess and finds a spot to hide and won’t come out. He usually meows back at me if I meow at him, but not when he’s freaked out outside…it takes so long to find him and he’s always so scared ;_; this comic just twisted a knife in my heart for lost kitties.
I’m new to BCN and I can’t believe how much I enjoy it and look forward to each update! It’s also the one & only thing I follow where I find the comments a pleasure as well. (And I’m very grateful that Minx & Lionel would have to get through three doors in order to get outside.)
Georgia, have you heard of a book series called Warriors? It mixes fantastical elements and adventure with the world view of wild cats who live in one of four ‘Clans’ and compete for food and territory. Just google ‘warrior cats’ or ‘warrior books’, and you’ll find it fast. It’s a great series, a must read for any cat lover.
The houses in panel 10 look mighty angry, no doubt telling His Highness to stay away! Thank you for letting us join in the fun – not only are your “cartoons” (for lack of a better word) truly works of art, they are enchanting. I go to breakingcatnews.com every day and wallow in the joy.
Oh Lupin’s expression in the first panel as he squishes his paper in worry… Tommy will save the day!
Tommy to the rescue!
Poor Elvis just can’t win. Maybe Tommy helps him find his way home?

Oh no! I hope you find your way quickly, Barbara! 🙂
Thanks Georgia, just worked it out – phew! This comic is certainly a support in times of need 🙂
I love that you were like “Crap! I’m lost. Guess I’ll check Cat News.” I hope by now that you’ve been rescued!!

Hilarious! Sometimes a little distraction is all you need.
I can’t wait until this is an animated special I watch every year.
Yes me too! you can say that again!
You know, I’ve been thinking this too far a long while–Breaking Cat News the cartoon would be so totally awesome!
Aw… somebody save him! I remember when my siamese, Yankee, got away, found him so much scared of everything a few minutes after, that he tried to run away even from me. Really, a world outside is a scary place for unprepared cat. Good thing Elvis at least have someone familiar.
I swear every time I’ve had to crawl under my hose with a can of tuna after my dang cat I was wearing a white shirt.
I feel Elvis’ pain. What a dejected kitty! I hope neighbor-cat helps Elvis.
Tommy will save him!!! I can feel it in my bones!!
Brilliant. Just brilliant. “If he were here he’d be so angry.” Oh my, the boys are soooo upset. And poor Elvis, holding his tail like the cowardly lion. But just when you think all hope is gone – TOMMY! Happy, chubby, friendly Tommy!
Poor sad Lupin! Poor lost Elvis!
How will we wait for Monday’s update? Poor us!
Oh my, I’m worried about a comic strip cat. LOL
Me, too!
yes, Me too!

Go Tommy! Go Tommy! Though I have to ask. Is your house pink? Love the reassurance of how angry Elvis would be 🙂 Roll on Monday!
It is! We’re lucky enough to live in an apartment in a beautiful pink Victorian.
Ok…I know it’s a bit crazy, but I near to have tears in my eyes! (yes, I know it’s a comic stip, but having been there with a real kitty I know what it feels like for real)

Aw, Kerri, thank you! I hope you enjoy what’s to come!

Yay! Tommy!
The tail holding is cute…. but the fiddling with the suspenders is adorable!!!!
BTW: “He’s here, Lupin. Melting down in spirit.” = pure genius!

Thank you, Donna! 🙂

I’m betting our Tommy winds up as an indoor cat?
“The food bowl in my tummy is empty” is truly inspired, lol.
I can just see Elvis when Tommy offers to help him get back home. All poofed up.
The food bowl in my tummy!!
‘the food bowl in my tummy’ superb
“Who is going to panic now?” I love it! You are so in tuen with your cats and cats in general. Keep up the fabulous work!
In the last passage, I can’t help but read Tommy in John Candy’s voice.
Elvis panel nine, poor baby, dont you just so want to hug him.
Can’t believe I want to hug a comic kitty, he looks so vulnerable x
We have much win and awesome on this webpage.
Such a heartbreaking strip! Our cat Jeremy goes into high panic mode if he goes out where there is No Ceiling.
I love every one of your ‘reports,’ and look forward to the happy ending of this one. Scritches and love to the whole news team and Tommy.
Thank you, Jody!
Awww, you’re right – sad Elvis is heartbreaking!
Their little faces are killing me! I want to hug them all!
I foresee Elvis having to visit Tommy’s home and accept Tommy’s kibble and OH THE HUMANITY OF IT ALL.

Elvis’ presentation of “The Facts” about the expensive cat-food is on my cube wall at work. (As a technical writer that especially tickles me.)
That is excellent! Thank you!! 🙂
Oh Elvis…never, never say that. A professional news reporter should know better. The universe takes it as a challenge.

Hello! Thank you so much! I feel incredibly grateful that so many kind, encouraging people comment, it means SO much!!!
That ‘chin up’ expression The Woman shows is a good shot too. Livejournal Icon worthy even! 😉

I have, but I have not had a chance to read them! They look like a lot of fun, though!
OMG THE WARRIORS SAGA? I LOVE WARRIORS!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
Am I the only one hearing Tommy in Wilson’s voice from Home Improvement?
Oh please hurry and rescue Elvis! I am very worried he’s out there…even if he’s not alone!

“He’s…melting down in spirit.” I want to steal that line!
