Oooh, I hope you’re right! I assumed he was a human, but that’s a silly assumption. And if Trevor is the dog, well, we already know he and Beatrix get along!
I know… I know it is hard to think of Beatrix in another home right now. But, we’ve all “fostered” her here together these past few months… And if you hold out, I think you will really love everything in store for her. (In book store for her?)
I promise, Beatrix will always be a big part of the comic going forward. Remember, Tommy and Burt play their parts and they do not live in the Big Pink House!
Yay! I’m glad we’re not losing her! She’s got a great career ahead of her being a book store cat! why I once again tried to get a job at a book store myself in the past but sadly I was “over-qualified”. She’s absolutely right–it’s right hard to find full-time work in this economy!
And- let’s not forget- much to Elvis’ exasperation, Miss Beatrix can get outside. She has powers that will not let her be contained, so she can pop up anywhere, any time… and I hope she does. 😀 This just broadens the storyline.
Awwwwwwww! How could one strip take me from loud cackles (Imbizzibility! CRASH!) to sniffles? Beautifully done. And those Paw-wes! (Polydactyls have two-syllable paw-wes, fyi) Poor Elvis!
Oh my Cat! What will the boys do without their intern. What will we do without her? I suppose she needs wider scope for her organizational skills. My screen is blurry too, Elvis.
Aw gee, it had been about twelve whole hours since I last weeped! I lost the fight to hold it together through Elvis crying, and then the mugs!!! But, oh thank you Georgia! huge hug.
Georgia, you must have amazing organizational skills, keeping us up to date with all the happenings of the many characters in the BCN world, and also running a household with 3 cats, a toddler, and a baby! Thanks again for making us readers a part of it all!
Lupin took off his clothes to go invisible, I LOVE IT! “What happened?” lol.. And I am so happy for Beatrix. But the end brought tears to my eyes. Elvis is such a sweetie, my heart was breaking for him. But I know it’s not the end for his and Beatrix’s friendship. 🙂 This is my FAVORITE comic of all time!!!!
Awwww!! Poor Elvis! *Sniff Sniff. So sweet he is writing a letter of recommendation, what a softie. 🙂
I’m glad Bea is going to have an awesome home, but sad because she is not going to be in the house with the boys.
Love Lupin’s “going invisible” LOL!
i don’t suppose the woman that owns the bookstore lives in the downstairs apartment of the big pink house does she? i’m holding on to that thought and Lupin being invisible to stop my inferior screen from getting all blurry too :p
Love the Bowie and Prince mugs <3 such a wonderful little touch and tribute to them.
I think the woman who owns the bookstore also owns the greenhouse where Tommy lived for a while, and sheltered Elvis overnight. She is likely a street or two away, but close.
Oh, tender-hearted Elvis! But Bea won’t be far away. I’m so happy for her. Being a bookstore cat is a great job! Poor Lupin. Invisibility Fail. Thank you for this lovely chapter, Georgia.
That is so cute, Elvis is such a softy for that little kitty! By the way, I have your book on order and I tell every shelter volenteer I meet about this comic!
She’ll get her own microphone when she leaves and she can look up references for them. I wonder what perch she will chose in the bookstore? will she sit on the register or over the door or in the window display? Only Cat knows.
Awwwwwww, poor little Elvis! He is going to miss Beatrix so much! He really loves that little girl. I don’t think she’ll be as happy at the bookstore as she has been here. Could you make it just a temporary job at the bookstore?
Elvis: “Whose cutting onions in here!?!” Thanks, Georgia, for the Bowie & Prince tribute. re: “pending Trevor agrees”, when ladies come to our Cat Shelter events and say they can’t adopt a cat because of husband, we always recommend getting the cat and losing the man – gets good laughs.
My screen is inferior too Elvis. (trying to be quiet while crying at my work desk) Had really hoped she would be staying with the boys. Hopefully she will find a way out of the bookstore to come visit. I’m sure that Trevor is The Dog that has been introduced and will love having her available to get him tea all day. Happy for Bea but so sad to have to say good bye to seeing her everyday. The Woman better start taking The Toddler to the bookstore 4, 5, 6 days a week so we can see her. Love that little ball of fluff!
Yes Kim, we’ve always had dogs & cats together in our family, all rescues.
Got along great with each other…so long as the dogs understood cat were
in charge! Trevor is great!
“A full-time position? In this economy?”
So, not only are our feline overlords conducting news reviews, wearing clothes, and running the place, but there’s an underground feline economic system as well! I want to see the little paychecks make an appearance! 😀
I don’t know what’s better, yet another example of Lupin’s handfullness or Elvis being so supportive of Bea finding a full time position.
The People have nice landlords, too, allowing a third cat in residence and not pitching a fit over a foster kitten. I’ve been in a similar position – leave the kitten where he is and it won’t end well, take him home and risk the wrath of the landlord. Fortunately, I knew he was a pet person and quickly found a nice couple in the country who just LOVED the opportunity to take the little fuzzball home (parents ROCK! ;))
…Well, “supportive” in the sense of “My baby’s LEAVING and I don’t know if I should be proud or cry…I shall do both.” We know the feeling, Elvis, we know. I’d send pets if I thought you’d accept them, but if you look miserable enough I’m sure your People will take the hint.
Back in Everett, WA this was a real thing we had to do. That landlord was absolutely wonderful–we have been blessed with great luck when it comes to landlords.
When WE lived in Everett, it was at a complex that kept changing management. Some allowed pets, some didn’t (but let us be grandfathered in), some took to rounding up every outdoor cat and sending it to the pound. As a result, there were times we were hiding up to 13 cats/kittens in our apartment until we could find them homes. (A friend at the same place once had a similar “hiding-out” count of 20!)
I just love this comic, readers comments for suggestions, ( Story lines, are purrfect!!) . So sad to see Beatrix leaving, but she sure got our heartstrings. Way to go Georgia!! Thanks always for sharing with us all.
No, no. Not at all. Having interned with BCN, she now goes on to spread the contamin…. uhm, LOVE. Spread the love to the rest of the world.
I do, however, take more exception to the Woman’s ignorance on the topic of who is owned by whom. The BCN crew should probably reindoctrinate her as to the Reality of the World. I blame our shoddy educational system. 😉
Aww, I’m sorry Elvis. I’ve had that happen once or twice too. I hate those crazy screens! It’s weird how they always do that when things are quite going right otherwise…
The Bowie and Prince mugs alone were tear inducing; but then the last panel? Oh dear, pass the Kleenex please. Or maybe I have inferior blurry screen too.
OH MY! Beatrix reminds me of my kitty Isabelle, a beautiful tortoiseshell who had seven toes on each paw! You HAVE to have some merchandise with Beatrix on it. Not just tee shirts, because you do have a size big enough for me (3xl). Beatrix must be seen often! Also, are you planning a second book ? It’d be great to have a book with these strips about Beatrix.
A wonderful strip, Georgia!
Very heartwarming, and my screen is VERY inferior, too.
Poor Elvis, he’ll say anything to cover up showing his true feelings.
I hope Beatrix visits often. I like bookstores.
Bookstore Cat I add one of the very Best occupations, according to The Princess Rain. ( though not a Bookstore Cat, she is definitely a bookshelf Cat and rarely misses an opportunity to “read” an abandoned book. I misplaced as critical more books that way). She is anxiously awaiting your book, Georgia, as her reading powers evidently do not extend to the Kindle.
Beatrix can be the Coffee and Books remote reporter. We once had a favorite Book Shop called BookSandCoffee in Dewey Beach, DE. Dedicated to coffee, books, and cats (in no special order). They saved our lives one very cold and wet January day when were visiting the Shore.
My heart is bursting with both happiness and sadness. I know little Beatrix with her baseball mitt pawses will be around for us to enjoy. It’s just the thought that the boys won’t see her everyday. And, who is going to do a coffee run? The station still needs an intern.
I am IN TEARS (over a fictional cat finding her furever home in a BOOK SHOP!). You tell an amazing story. I can’t wait to see more of Beatrix’s adventures!
It’s already been established that Bea can get out of supposed confined spaces (remember, she was found outdoors and she always does those coffee runs), so yeah, I think we’ll continue to see her being a part of the BCN crew.
Georgia, you continue to amaze…you truly capture the grace and beauty that are cats and kittens–we see it every day with our eight, but nothing on the scale of what you bring to BCN. It’s like a treasure hunt every strip looking for the ‘easter egg’ graphics–subtle, yet very telling. We all live for Mondays and Thursdays!
Actually from something she said, the Bookstore Lady owns the shed where Tommy and Elvis spent the night in the first Xmas Special. So she does not live far.
Little Beatrix has so much energy, I’m sure she’ll be sitting on ALL of those spots and more! After all, she’s already excellent at multi-tasking and she’s got a lot to handle in her new job as well as handling the Twitter account and keeping in touch with all her friends .
All I can say is great strip. The future looks bright for Beatrix, and so glad to know she will still be close by. All I can say for the last panel is Poor Elvis. Beatrix found his soft spot and knew just how to win him over. I was having the same problem with my “inferior” screen as I read this one. Thanks for giving us such a great strip that lets you really feel the joy and feelings in the house.
Beatrix should become the network’s book reviewer, and inform the audience on which books are best for sleeping on, and which ones get the best reaction when you jump up on them to interrupt the annoying habit people have of staring at paper when they could be looking at cats.
Excuse me for posting again, but in addition to sweet little Beatrix kittens are now being born all over the country. First time mom cats are having them under houses, in garages, in storage sheds and abandoned cars. Many of these moms are not even a year old, and started out as pets that never were spayed, came into heat got out and got lost. Right now we have several fitting that description at our small shelter right now. I urge all cat lovers to notice if they see a strange cat going in and out of a “seemingly safe place”. If the moms are wild take the kittens to a shelter and trap the mom, get her spayed and set her free. The babies (if they are young enough) will make great pets. Mom at least will not have more kittens. Those of us who love cats need to do our part, as Georgia and her friends have done, to try to help stem the tide.
I’m with Elvis. I’m going to miss Bea also. But she does seem excited about the job so I’m happy for her. I guess.
I was going to per order your book but my husband ordered it for me first. I talk about your stories to everyone and can’t wait to get it.
Georgia, I trusted you completely with the storyline about Beatrix (once you had assured as several episodes previously that we’d never really lose her) and I knew you wouldn’t disappoint us! What were gaining is a richly woven community of cats, people, mice and now a dog (I KNOW that’s who Trevor is) who all live in different places but always meet up and do things together. After all, it could get a little crowded if everyone lived in the same house as theMan and Woman!
I’m not surprised over Elvis’ tender nurturing side. He is/was a fierce Protector of the Baby, and in http://www.breakingcatnews.com/comic/breaking-cat-news-halloween-special-part-five/ he told the Toddler, “Son, I’m your Dad now” with a whsipered “You just forget about ol’ what’s-his-beard.” Elvis might not be playful and have a gruff serious exterior but his heart melts so easily!
Yeah Elvis, I feel ya. My inferior screen keeps going blurry on me too. Not only is today the third anniversary of losing one of my former students, but just an hour ago, I found out that a close family friend has just left us.
On the bright side, our cat has survived what we assume was a very lucky close encounter with an owl Friday night. We made sure he was indoors Thursday night because I heard the owl right outside my window. One puncture wound between his left eye and ear, but other than that, there’s nothing noticeable. He’s definitely in some pain, but he’s alert and as energetic as anyone could be under those circumstances. He’s a little annoyed that we won’t let him go outside at all right now, though.
I was also going to mention both mugs! So perfect!
And Lupin – ‘going invisible’ LOL!! [‘what happened’ is that you are too much kitty for a curio shelf!]
Loved this all so much. .. Elvis getting all misty-eyed
Another wonderful strip and I am still chuckling about Lupin going ‘invisible’ and being five cat’s worth of cat!
Bea is such a sweet, lively ball of energy that she will be right at home as a bookstore cat but I feel ya Elvis, she is going to be missed. At least until she shows up for a visit or a coffee run. 😉
Add me to the list of folk touched by the Prince and Bowie coffee mugs. Georgia you have the knack of getting us right in the feels when it comes to these little touches that make BCN such a unique and special place to visit.
love that you had to get special permission for Lupin, we had to do the same in our house (the landlord previously had a bad experience with tenants who installed several cats, dogs, rabbits, and a goat without permission). So it’s written into our lease: “No pets, except one well-behaved cat.” 😀
I’m excited for the new scenery – I love bookstores! and more adventures with new friends for Beatrix, too. In her short time as a part of BCN, she has brought so many new angles to the story line! Great stuff as always.
Georgia, your talent is amazing. I discovered this strip over a year ago, and have loved it ever since. Your stories have brought me many laughs (and a few tears—Tillie :'( ), and the strips are only getting better!
Georgia, you have so thoroughly anthropomorphized everyone in your strip that I have to confess: when I first saw naked Lupin in panels 8 & 9, for just a second I actually felt a little embarrassed for seeing Lupin without his clothes on! And then I had to remind myself cats don’t normally wear clothes! Duh! It just seems so weird to not see him in his brown suit and red tie!
It’s funny you should say that, because I made an “Invisible Lupin” print recently, and I’m going to use it for just that!! The next time the Etsy shop opens there are going to be 2-3 new prints, including one where Puck is boxing the electric razor. Once the ‘Invisible Lupin’ print is available, I want to use it on Zazzle to make it look like a mug, a tote bag, or a tee is actually Lupin in disguise!!! 😀
At first I thought it was a coincidence (because why would someone who foster kittens claim not to be a cat person?), but I decided I had to ask because their dog looked like it could have been Trevor as a puppy.
Awwww, poor Elvis. 🙁 I hope he and Beatrix get to visit each other from time to time. She can be the culture correspondent!!
Love the Prince coffee mug!
Guess I wasn’t the only one who noticed those. 😁
And ziggy stardust
Prince mug AND Bowie mug! Georgia, you are the best.
I didn’t even notice that! Nice touch!
No! You cannot take the kitten away from the boys! This is sad!
awww, Elvis is a big softie
Why do I think that Trevor is the dog that’s been visiting lately?
Oooh, I hope you’re right! I assumed he was a human, but that’s a silly assumption. And if Trevor is the dog, well, we already know he and Beatrix get along!
OMG I love the Prince & Bowie mugs!!!
Your tribute to Prince is lovely.
I hope we get to see the bookstore and Beatrix’s adventures continue.
Poor, sweet Elvis.
Aaaah… Is that Elvis crying because of Beatrix’s going to have a new home? I’m sharing his feelings
Awwww Elvis! Such a sweet-hearted grouch. (also, nekkid Lupin is my fave!)
“Lupin’s like owning 5 cats.” Another classic line. Great start to a Monday.
Do not fear! You are not losing Beatrix. 🙂
Phew! Love Bee-Tricks! And invisi-Lupin is ace
Oh terrific for Bea, but we all feel like Elvis in our cat household. So, how will Trevor respond! Thanks as always for the wonderful stories.
It’s okay Elvis, she’ll come visit!
I have to admit, I’m going to miss sweet, little Beatrix.
😊
D’awww hope we get to see Beatrix soon. Will Elvis take over for her?
Totally amazing, Joyce for pointing out the Prince mug, and Georgia for thinking of it. Bravo to both.
aw, poor Elvis has dust in his eyes. We will miss you Bea but looking forward to adventures in the bookstore!
She can till manage their Twitter account, too. We know Elvis can’t do it. He still thinks Twitter is bird news 😄
My eyes are leaking!
Awwwwwwww! How could one strip take me from loud cackles (Imbizzibility! CRASH!) to sniffles? Beautifully done. And those Paw-wes! (Polydactyls have two-syllable paw-wes, fyi) Poor Elvis!
Not losing Beatrix, just gaining another BCN bureau. (At least that’s what I’m hoping…)
But, oh thank you Georgia! huge hug.
That mug! Your little details are so great!
Made my day—I’ll be coming back to this several times.
I was laughing and crying at the same time. Elvis is so sweet and he seems happy that Beatrix is going to a good home.
And Lupin being 5 cats had me laughing so hard. Sometime my 2 seem like so many more.
I always trust you that it all works out.
More room for another foster. 😻
Typing a letter of recommendation… so sweet and I am sad for the boy. He’s really a big softy.
I love the Prince and Bowie mugs.
Beatrix is a delight. I love her enthusiasm (and already knowing the local rodent criminal masterminds.)
Trevor has got to be the border collie that already knows and likes her… and lets her perch on his head. He’s got to be!
Oh, Sweet Little Beatrix (Scout) I will miss seeing her every day. Surely Trevor is the sweet dog we have been seeing. They can drink tea together.
Awwww!! Poor Elvis! *Sniff Sniff. So sweet he is writing a letter of recommendation, what a softie. 🙂
I’m glad Bea is going to have an awesome home, but sad because she is not going to be in the house with the boys.
Love Lupin’s “going invisible” LOL!
Ahhh. Elvis is so sweet.
Yay for Breatrix. Alas for poor Elvis.
Aww, poor Elvis
My inferior screen is going blurry too!
Oh man. Beatrix is getting a full time job! That’s cool, I’ll bet the others will miss her though.
I see that Beatrix is still handling the Social Media for BCN, so all will be well.
All the feels…
i don’t suppose the woman that owns the bookstore lives in the downstairs apartment of the big pink house does she? i’m holding on to that thought and Lupin being invisible to stop my inferior screen from getting all blurry too :p
Love the Bowie and Prince mugs <3 such a wonderful little touch and tribute to them.
That would be awesome. There used to be a wonderful feminist bookstore in Cambridge that was in an old Victorian.
I think the woman who owns the bookstore also owns the greenhouse where Tommy lived for a while, and sheltered Elvis overnight. She is likely a street or two away, but close.
I’m looking forward to some Beatrix-and-Trevor tales! I hope we’re “booked” for some!
I love this strip, and can’t wait to see Beatrix’s new digs.
Is Puck in a shoe?
I think he’s wrapped around and hiding behind The Woman’s leg.
aha! Thank you!
Oh, no! We’ll miss Beatrix and so will the boys!
Oh, that Prince cup! And all the purple as well. RIP.
Oh, tender-hearted Elvis! But Bea won’t be far away. I’m so happy for her. Being a bookstore cat is a great job! Poor Lupin. Invisibility Fail. Thank you for this lovely chapter, Georgia.
Oh Elvis. If you would not disembowel me, I would give you the biggest hug..
That is so cute, Elvis is such a softy for that little kitty! By the way, I have your book on order and I tell every shelter volenteer I meet about this comic!
Thank you, Carrie!!
Yay! Congratulations Beatrix! I actually got offered a new job this morning, so I’m doubly excited to celebrate with her!
Yay!!! Congratulations!!!
She’ll get her own microphone when she leaves and she can look up references for them. I wonder what perch she will chose in the bookstore? will she sit on the register or over the door or in the window display? Only Cat knows.
Maybe the bookstore lady will build some catwalks as are found in many bookstores around here–Twice Sold Tales always had them.
Awwwwwww, poor little Elvis! He is going to miss Beatrix so much! He really loves that little girl. I don’t think she’ll be as happy at the bookstore as she has been here. Could you make it just a temporary job at the bookstore?
Does she have to quit being an intern or can she commute?
Awww! Poor Elvis. Our Cats are alone for the week (except for the cat sitter), and we miss them.
I cant believe i am getting all weepy over a cartoon.
*oops* “who’s”.
*sniffle*
The site cut off the first half of my comment…
“I’m too busy cleaning my new glasses to comment.. Inferior lenses..sniffle”
“Lupin’s like owning five cats…”
HE’S NOT FAT, HE’S FLUFFY!! 🙂
Awww, Invisible Lupin and Heartbreak Elvis
Do i see a literature reemits coming on?
Ment to say Literature REVIEWER.
NAKED (invisible) LUPIN!!! Ha, Ha!!! That is so funny! I love this strip! 🙂
It’s the subtleties included I really like about the strip. Prince mug, Elvis holding his glasses..
Love that little ball of fluff!
Hope there will be a Dog News Network featuring Trevor.
BSN => “BookStore News!” 🙂
Yes Kim, we’ve always had dogs & cats together in our family, all rescues.
Got along great with each other…so long as the dogs understood cat were
in charge! Trevor is great!
And the Bowie one beside it!
OH MY CAT! “I’m already acquainted with the local rodent criminal masterminds” ~a classic.
Love love love this!
Before she leaves Bea needs to teach one of the boys the ‘secret’ of the magical warm beverages. Earl Grey, hot for me, s’il vows plaît.
“A full-time position? In this economy?”
So, not only are our feline overlords conducting news reviews, wearing clothes, and running the place, but there’s an underground feline economic system as well! I want to see the little paychecks make an appearance! 😀

Beatrix looks so happy in the 2nd to last panel.
One Prince, one Bowie. Georgia, that’s fantastic.
I love Elvis showing his soft side💕 And you have a rescued Bea💕
You are awesome baby💕💕💕💕
Poor Elvis! My heart is breaking for that sweet curmudgeon!
Your coffee mugs made a great strip even better :’)
Elvis is truly a good dad, sad but supporting his kid go as she goes on to do her own thing …
A bookstore kitty! That should boost sales!!! A lovely Monday story, thank you very much Georgia x
Aww, I’m sorry Elvis. I’ve had that happen once or twice too. I hate those crazy screens! It’s weird how they always do that when things are quite going right otherwise…
Poor Elvis.

When I saw the headline, I wondered if it was to keep him from fighti- Er, I mean, initiating freeze tag combat – with Puck *g*
Love Lupin going invisible. And we all know with Beatrix’s ability to get outside, she’ll be visiting whenever she wants!
…And oh my cat, those PAWS!

Intern to Station Manager—is there no limit to this kitten’s abilities?

Is that five before or after *special* coffee?
According to her twitter comment, Bea is still the BCN social media intern!
congrats to beatrix.
looking forward to the ever expanding world of the wonderful BCN news crew an thier correspondents.
All I can say is great strip. The future looks bright for Beatrix, and so glad to know she will still be close by. All I can say for the last panel is Poor Elvis. Beatrix found his soft spot and knew just how to win him over. I was having the same problem with my “inferior” screen as I read this one.
Thank you, Emily!
I think you might be right! Hmmmm….
I am depressed. I want Beatrix to stay with the other cats, serving coffee and hot chocolate.
Reminds me of The Invisible Boy in the movie, “Mystery Men”. 😉
I’m so sorry to hear about your losses, but very glad your kitty is okay!
Thank you, Laura!
love that you had to get special permission for Lupin, we had to do the same in our house (the landlord previously had a bad experience with tenants who installed several cats, dogs, rabbits, and a goat without permission).
They’re really getting a network out there, aren’t they? Tommy, the ceiling cats, the tech team, the mice…
I just binged the entire comic two days ago, and I’m so attached to the bond Elvis and Beatrix had. Poor Elvis. 🙁
I like how Elvis is being supportive in this, even if it’s hard for him. =’)
What the Bookstore Woman doesn’t realize is that Bea chose her. It’s always the Cat who does the choosing.
Georgia, your talent is amazing. I discovered this strip over a year ago, and have loved it ever since. Your stories have brought me many laughs (and a few tears—Tillie :'( ), and the strips are only getting better!
Thank you, Justin!!
Haha!!! That’s great!
we need a mug or tee-shirt or wallpaper of lupin being invisible. ITS ADORABLE! 😀
WOOHOOOOOO!!!! 🙂
Is “the Woman who Owns the Bookstore” the same woman who fostered the little cat in the Special Report on shelter cats?
Hello! No, she is not. That woman and the gentleman with her were based on my cousin Chris and his wife Jackie! 🙂
Hello!
At first I thought it was a coincidence (because why would someone who foster kittens claim not to be a cat person?), but I decided I had to ask because their dog looked like it could have been Trevor as a puppy.
