Hey Georgia! All you need now is my kid, Felix, to attack your feet as you move them around under the covers! Only then will your stay under the warm blanket truly be complete! LOL!!
“I’m trapped under a pile of cats.” That is the best catchphrase yet. I must convince my wife to get lots of cats before child #3 appears around Christmas time, just so I can say that line.
Oh my goodness — I’m loving the saber-toothed kitty! I remember once, back when my kitties were alive (sniff), it was so cold one night, I woke up in the middle of the night and was trapped underneath 3 cats as well. Good times.
Thanks for the great way to start the day!
We adopted our cat in mid-July. She was very affectionate but had no interest in the couch or laps, so we just figured she wouldn’t be a lap cat. Then fuzzy blanket season started and she would jump up and start to dig at my clothes if there was no blanket to cuddle under.
“I’d help you look, but I’m trapped under a pile of cats.” – Love it! Because we all know that when the kitties are comfy, it is our job to stay still so as not to disturb their rest. 🙂
Here it is snuggly flannel comforter season. (Sadly not today, since the temperature is expected to be 80, which is IMO too blasted hot.) However, I am quite familiar with being trapped under a pile of cats. With your permission, (and I will wait) I’ll share my trapped with cats poem with you.
Honestly, though there is sometimes lots of hissing and smacking, no one really claws or bites. Though my old lady Nimue yowls from her perch, “you keeds get off mah lawn!”
Our girl Parker sits on the fuzzy thing between the Man’s feet and then lets the air out of herself and goes completely flat cat. He is then stuck in the barcalounger (he is a good Man, he would never disturb a cat.) til she decides to move. The best part for her is the fuzzy thing is an electric blanket.
My cats love fuzzy blanket season, because that’s also YARN season! I tend to start crocheting in the fall to prep for winter, and this year I’m making a pair of new slippers and a stuffed something-or-another for a friend who’s having a baby (I haven’t decided what yet)… Friday will curl up behind my knees, while Cid loves to be as close to the yarn action as possible. IN it, sometimes!
LOL, your timing is absolutely perfect!
This was exactly my situation for a good part of the weekend, I was trapped under my cats.
For some reason a fuzzy fluffy blanket attracts them like nothing else (besides food).
I LOVE this one Georgia! Not only was my cat a lap cat extraordinaire, but during fuzzy blanket season she became even more of a lap cat (if that’s even possible). You knew it was really cold when she got under the blanket!
Of course we all know not to disturb a cat who is comfy.
Gorgeous! Fuzzy blanket season started here a few weeks ago. I get very cold, so I have heated fleece throws and Ninja is absolutely devoted to them. The second one came out, she was absolutely clamped to me on top of it. Pity it wasn’t working and we had to wait for a replacement…
My kitty loves fluff, it’s so cute, but he also liked to baker man [knead] it a bunch, and when you hear a rumbling you know he’s found the fluff because he’s purring away, baker manning and suckling on the fluff, so my blankets get weird wet spots from my kitty.
In our house, there’s a serious affliction called COL … cat on lap … it prevents one from doing anything for one’s self, so coffee, tea, and so forth must be delivered, phones cannot be answered. Very serious condition.
Hot cider with cinnamon, Puck’s really great comparative graphic, and as I am currently trapped under a pile of cats myself, I find this true in my own life. Wonderful.
Happy Fuzzy Blanket Season! Love the cider and cinnamon stick in Lupin’s cup. the painting is fabulous! That Sophie is one cool customer, I think she’s making a big mistake not befriending Tommy. He is a great catch; wish I knew a man like him!
A mug of hot cider (with cinnamon stick and cloves) is the perfect beverage for fuzzy blanket season. It tastes good AND makes the house smell wonderful!
When I was a kid, “I’ve got a cat on my lap!” was understood to be a perfectly-good reason for “I can’t answer the front door even though I’m much closer to it than anyone else”. Nowadays, of course, it’s “cat paralysis”. Because we are scientifical, you understand.
I’ve got some good friends who refer to their fuzzy buddies as “couch nails”.
Every panel is a treasure, it’s hard to pick a favorite but saber tooth kitty panel comparing then and now is right up there as is Puck’s mention of what hide fuzzy blanket comes from—-“it must be magnificent” is another.
In real life, I promise, both the cats they are based on certainly do and did. Burt’s owner was posting photos of Burt asleep in her husband’s lap tonight, in fact! And Mouse–who was a cat we had when I was a child, who sadly has passed on–was an adored favorite of my mother’s. She was not a friendly cat, but she did curl up with my Mom often.
It’s still in the 80s here and Tallulah is asleep in the bottom drawer in the bathroom, which is, of course the coolest place in the house. Hoping for fuzzy blanket season soon!
This is wonderful, but I wish Sophie was nicer to Tommy—he’s a terrific guy!!
This is how I ended up sleeping in yesterday. I opened the bedroom door and my super shy girl (who looks like Tabitha does in the strip!) who doesn’t like to be held and is like a 3x a year cuddler came in and curled up on my legs. No way was I getting up! 🙂
Is it just me, or does panel 7 have a mistake? When it says “Tommy here, live with two folks celebrating this great season” the bubble points to Tommy’s owner! Is that accurate?
Oh, weird!! Thank you for pointing that out to me, I’m going to go in there and correct it in about 20 minutes. Originally that bubble stem curled toward Tommy, I must have goofed in the inking!
Thumper thinks it’s *always* fuzzy blanket season, even in high summer. She heartily approved of me breaking out the heavy quilt last week (and yesterday I couldn’t start dinner because I was snuggled under the fleece blanket with one cat curled up on my feet and another on the back of the futon pressed against my arm).
Try sleeping in a single bed with six cats. The cats seemed to sleep well. Person not so good …too many leg cramps! That was a long time ago, things are much calmer now.
Maxie thinks it is always fuzzy blanket season. I got a flannel blanket back in February and she has fallen in love with it. She is pretty insistent about getting lap time every night regardless of the temperature. When it is really hot I have to sit with most of me uncovered. I also have the problem that I end up going to bed later than I should because I can’t disturb her. 🙂
Being new to cats, I have to say I am looking forward to colder weather to see if my 2 kittens will be interested in snuggling on the blanket. Miss Kitty, our 2 year old, is part feral kitty, so she’s not much of a snuggler 🙁
There are many times I will be under my quilted blanket and in my chair and be “trapped by my two sleeping cats”, Clyde on the left side and Arabella on the right side. I will have to ask my Roommate to take care of something for me, because I do not want to disturb sleeping kitties.
This kitty-pinning seems to be a common affliction. By the way, I read the reporter cat bios, and I know and love Purrfect Pals. I am sure they would be delighted know that their alumnae are famous. I used to live in the Seattle area and still support this shelter-bet they would love to see that puck and lupin are international celebrities (I shared a strip with a friend in Canada).
It’s finally(!) fall here, and it got down to 45 last night. When my husband opened the curtains this morning, he said, “The squirrels are wearing sweaters.” My first thought was, that sounds like a BCN headline!
Fuzzy blanket season is the best!
I call it being fuzzy-mugged. It is incapacitating
Totally Incapussitated.
Oh no! The woman is handicatted! Happens all the time in our house.
I love being trapped under a pile of cats, so much warmth and love!
Oh my goodness — I’m loving the saber-toothed kitty! I remember once, back when my kitties were alive (sniff), it was so cold one night, I woke up in the middle of the night and was trapped underneath 3 cats as well. Good times.
Thanks for the great way to start the day!
That is absolutely adorable.
I wish I could use the excuse I was trapped under a pile of cats lol.
omg Tommy, “Follow up, would you like to be best friends?”- total cat dynamic!
My cats are lucky. This is a year long event for them! They always seem just as excited and Lupin, Puck and Elvis.
We adopted our cat in mid-July. She was very affectionate but had no interest in the couch or laps, so we just figured she wouldn’t be a lap cat. Then fuzzy blanket season started and she would jump up and start to dig at my clothes if there was no blanket to cuddle under.
the shelter provider comparison is wonderful.
Fuzzy blanket season is my favourite time of the year! I’m glad to see it being celebrated here at BCN!
“I’d help you look, but I’m trapped under a pile of cats.” – Love it! Because we all know that when the kitties are comfy, it is our job to stay still so as not to disturb their rest. 🙂
Whoa, so cute in last panel. That is me around Mid-December, here it doesn’t
get cold ’till then!
Well, actually the cats want cuddle time year round…
I didn’t know Lupin loves apple cider 🙂
With cinnamon sticks, no less.
My four-footed feline friends like to get under the fuzzy blanket with me. But there are a lot of biscuits being made while they try to get there!
I’d love that! 🙂
One, one cat on the bed
Curled up so sweet, quite sound asleep
One, one cat on the bed
Two, two cats on the bed
Snuggling together, two birds of a feather
Two, two cats on the bed
Three, three cats on the bed
A’snooze in a pile, they just make me smile
Three, three cats on the bed
Four, four cats on the bed
Look at her pounce, then turn and flounce
Four, four cats on the bed
Five, five cats on the bed
Smack goes the paw, out goes the claw
Five, five cats on the bed
Six, six cats on the bed
Ignoring the rest, no taste for jest
Six, six cats on the bed
Seven, seven cats on the bed
Then he joins the fray, his brothers his prey
Seven, seven cats on the bed
Eight, eight cats on the bed
Across my keyboard, but not onto the floor
Eight, eight cats on the bed
Nine, nine cats on the bed
I’m all out of room, I shall go mad soon
Nine, nine cats on the bed
Ten, ten cats on the bed
Arrrrgh!
One, one cat on the bed
Yay!! Thank you for sharing that with us! (I think 5 cats on the pet is my favorite 🙂 )
Honestly, though there is sometimes lots of hissing and smacking, no one really claws or bites. Though my old lady Nimue yowls from her perch, “you keeds get off mah lawn!”
I need a love button that I can click a gazillion times! But poor Tommy. Is there nothing he can do to melt Sophie’s cold heart?
My cats do the same thing
Our girl Parker sits on the fuzzy thing between the Man’s feet and then lets the air out of herself and goes completely flat cat. He is then stuck in the barcalounger (he is a good Man, he would never disturb a cat.) til she decides to move. The best part for her is the fuzzy thing is an electric blanket.
What?!No robber mice?!But anyway I love how you put Sophie in there! And
how Lupin and Puck and elvis on your lap!My cat loves doing that!
No robber mice to see… But their nefarious activities may still have found a way to be mentioned in this strip. 😉
Oooo… did they steal the pen?
They stole the Man’s pen!
Finally the time of year where my cats will stay still long enough so I can let them!
Except when they are wanting food of course
My cats love fuzzy blanket season, because that’s also YARN season! I tend to start crocheting in the fall to prep for winter, and this year I’m making a pair of new slippers and a stuffed something-or-another for a friend who’s having a baby (I haven’t decided what yet)… Friday will curl up behind my knees, while Cid loves to be as close to the yarn action as possible. IN it, sometimes!
“I’m trapped under a pile of cats.” Best reason ever for not helping to look for anything 😀
We call it “kitty pinned” and it is considered a valid excuse for just about anything! >*.*<
Love panel 5 🙂
Sorry, I meant 6 🙂
“I”m trapped under a pile of cats.”
In our house we call that Feline Paralysis.
http://www.catster.com/lifestyle/cat-humor-behavior-feline-paralysis
We call it cat-ralysis!
Hee! Yes, kitty cuddle weather is the best weather there is. Having COL (Cat On Lap) is a very valid reason to not do something in our household. 🙂
Loving the duality with the saber toothed cat and Elvis, and Tommy’s brief conversation with Sophie. |3
In my house, we call that being in-cat-pacitated!
Oh, I love that!
“Sweet goof”, perfect description of Tommy.
LOL, your timing is absolutely perfect!
This was exactly my situation for a good part of the weekend, I was trapped under my cats.
For some reason a fuzzy fluffy blanket attracts them like nothing else (besides food).

SometimesKate, I’d love to read your poem too.
Gorgeous! Fuzzy blanket season started here a few weeks ago. I get very cold, so I have heated fleece throws and Ninja is absolutely devoted to them. The second one came out, she was absolutely clamped to me on top of it. Pity it wasn’t working and we had to wait for a replacement…
The sad thing is you could replace the cats with my dogs in most of the comics and they would still work — especially this one.
My kitty loves fluff, it’s so cute, but he also liked to baker man [knead] it a bunch, and when you hear a rumbling you know he’s found the fluff because he’s purring away, baker manning and suckling on the fluff, so my blankets get weird wet spots from my kitty.

We call it becatted. “Hon, get the phone. I’m becatted.”
Almost makes Winter inviting!!, love it xxx
Happy Fuzzy Blanket Season! Love the cider and cinnamon stick in Lupin’s cup. the painting is fabulous! That Sophie is one cool customer, I think she’s making a big mistake not befriending Tommy. He is a great catch; wish I knew a man like him!

Sabre toothed tiger – want!
Have Burt and Baba Mouse ever known the comfort of a fuzzy blanket on a warm lap?
Oh what a sad thought, I do hope so – Georgia? 🙁
Thank you 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
That’s a relief! Thank you.
favorite time of year for people and kitties. ❤️
It’s still in the 80s here and Tallulah is asleep in the bottom drawer in the bathroom, which is, of course the coolest place in the house. Hoping for fuzzy blanket season soon!
This is wonderful, but I wish Sophie was nicer to Tommy—he’s a terrific guy!!

it’s fuzzy blanket time, and the livin’s easy
catnip fish are jumpin’, and the cat trees are high

There!! Thank you again, Tiger!!
Glad to have helped. 🙂
‘I can’t, I have a cat’ perhaps the MOST valid of all excuses in a cat person home! 🙂
Love the “timeless scene” comparison!

The scene with the sabretooth kinda reminded me of this…
https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Just_So_Stories/The_Cat_that_Walked_by_Himself
Possibly the best name for Fall ever.
Being new to cats, I have to say I am looking forward to colder weather to see if my 2 kittens will be interested in snuggling on the blanket. Miss Kitty, our 2 year old, is part feral kitty, so she’s not much of a snuggler 🙁
I like the vision of you as warrior queen with your pet sabre tooth and then blissfully trapped under cats 🙂
Sadly, my older cat, buddy, does not like fuzzy blankets so their use remains limited in our household …
Does The Man have only one pen?
There are many times I will be under my quilted blanket and in my chair and be “trapped by my two sleeping cats”, Clyde on the left side and Arabella on the right side. I will have to ask my Roommate to take care of something for me, because I do not want to disturb sleeping kitties.

Yep, we’ve been seeking out the fuzzy blankets a lot lately.
It’s finally(!) fall here, and it got down to 45 last night. When my husband opened the curtains this morning, he said, “The squirrels are wearing sweaters.” My first thought was, that sounds like a BCN headline!
I love that!!! Haha!!
Turkey day last year provided one of my favorite pictures. .. three of our large fuzz butts decided to pile on me with my blanket.
There were two other laps available. .. mine was just the most plush, I guess. 😉
I know very well what it’s like to be trapped under a pile of cats. *sage nod*
Ah yes, always nice to get encatsulated.
(Double pun very much intended.)
Ah, catted in place. *bliss*
