Ay-yi-yi! The showdown, the mightiest prey, the owl, the porch light, the FEELS! Oh, the suspense! Just love it, Georgia, it just gets better and BETTER! And Mouse News now! Keep up the EXCELLENT work!
Hello everyone!! If you’re going to San Diego Comic Con, I will be at GoComics’ booth (booth 1505) Friday night between 5 and 6 pm! Come say hello and ask me to sign things!
Congratulations! I can’t (and wouldn’t face those crowds) be there, but I am supporting you all the way. You’ve earned this! Bask in it! The culmination of a childhood dream!
YOU’RE GOING TO HAVE A WHOLE LINE OF GLOWERING PPL DEMANDING TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS CUZ I BANGED ON THE “NEXT” BUTTON AS HARD AS I COULD BUT THERE’S NO NEXT!!!!😱😱😱😱😱😰😰😰
Some folks asked on GoComics, so I will let people here know too: I was able to get the blurry effect on “the mightiest prey” panel by scanning what I had painted, selecting that area in Photoshop and using a tool called “box blur.” There were a few more “tidying up” steps, like erasing some of the bleed and such, but that’s mostly how I was able to make it appear that the “camera” is focusing in on Natasha with Wicket flying in from a distance! 🙂 Sometimes a little digital effect can be used in a really fun way, especially if I’m trying to recreate something a camera lens does.
You are just amazing! I find myself checking my email everyday JUST for the breaking news alert. I wish you could have seen my excitement when it popped up! You are on my VIP list
“The mightiest prey” panel is incredibly eerie and effective! Love the whole story line.
Don’t worry about ComicCon. (I know, easier said than done.) But your live feeds are always fun and informative and it’s much harder talking to a camera than actual people. I have no doubt you’ll be great.
Oh my lord. I just added a kitten to my family and I agree with Baba. Kittens are exhausting! I ROFL’d so loudly at that. /thumbs way, way up for this series. I’m enjoying it so much.
Natasha looks ghostly with her war paint and white body. Agnes being given her own mini mic is adorable and keeps her in on the action! I wonder what Violet is going to be doing in the trees. The suspense is killing me!
There are so many good questions today, I feel like giving out at least one previously unknown answer! So, I’ll pick this one: It’s Burt! It is something he controls from his AV corner in the barn. Burt types out the scroll, (probably with help from notes Elvis, Puck, or Lupin send in with their stories) but I like to think that while most news broadcasts are very professional with their scroll, Burt is a little bored at work some days and has fun with it.
It has, but it get a little cheesier after Burt joined the crew. I imagine that the BCN news team just plugged in simple notes before Burt was there to man it.
Hi Georgia, I have been reading BCN for the past year or so, but I’ve never posted before. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE everything about this comic! This particular storyline is a nail biter for sure and sooo enjoyable.
Keep up the great work! I truly look forward to this every Monday and Thursday. Thanks for the laughs:)
Such suspense! I am really enjoying this thread and cheering for the brave little mice. Thank you Georgia, your beautifully painted column is such a joy to me.
Another brilliant installment! I don’t know if I’ll be able to last until Monday The Thursday to Monday wait is always the hardest, but you make it worthwhile with your story telling.
I wish I could be in California this weekend to meet you in person, and really wish I had had the opportunity when you were still in New England. Excellent work, Georgia. I can’t think of better words! ~ V
Echoing everyone’s comments about Camera One. Love Camera One -Camera One has become a character in his/her own right. S/he needs adding to the list of characters for his/her own unique contribution to any story line.
Brilliant art work — brilliant story line. Can’t wait to see the solution (Wicket getting his comeuppance, certainly).
Have fun at ComicCon. Just watch out for all those crazy Trekkies that will be celebrating the newest Abrahms.
Georgia, I haven’t been commenting as I’ve been in the midst of selling our place, downsizing and buying a smaller place. So many BAD headaches as stress brings them on with a vengence! Makes packing and moving even more difficult. But I have to comment least once.
I’ve been faithfully following the unfolding story and LOVE every small detail and its Easter eggs throughout. I’ve never seen or heard of a comic like yours, now or in the past, that has such a convoluted plot – one that weaves in bits and pieces from past strips so flawlessly! Each time I read a new strip, I’m floored at how you do it. You are an AMAZING story-teller, Georgia! Then on top of your stories, we get your art! I don’t have enough superlatives to describe all this. I’d be gushing for many paragraphs about your art, your stories and the characters that you’ve created and feel so real and dear to our hearts!
I know Wicket is a bad owl but I admit a soft spot for him still. Maybe ’cause I really love owls, maybe ’cause Wicket’s just being and doing what owls naturally do, or maybe ’cause I see a bit of an old sweet rogue in Wicket. Whatever you write, I’ll be more than delighted but I hope you show there’s still a bit of good in old Wicket.
Hello Jude! Much luck be with you, the Man and I had to go through that process a few years back, and it was very stressful. I hope you get some peace soon and enjoy your new place!
Thank you so much!! I am glad you’re liking the story, and hopefully you will enjoy what I have planned for Wicket. 😉
Ohho, lordy did I laugh at that last panel! That is spoken like a true parent and grandparent. Good thing those exhausting kittens are so dang cute, huh?
Thank you for sharing your talent with us, Georgia. BCN was the only thing on my Facebook feed that didn’t leave me sad, angry, or cringing. It’s such a blessing to have something like BCN that is sweet, clever, and kind.
The mouse’s horn is a Trumpet of Doom? I think that Burt or Trevor are operat
ing camera one. I’d like the two ghosts to be in on Wicket’s comeuppance. I’d really enjoy living in the BCN world, but I doubt that the boys would appreciate me bringing my five tortoiseshells along!
Georgia’s gentle wit, kindness and affection too all of her characters, including those who stray from the paths of righteousness, remind me of the late and much lamented Terry Pratchett, but even he never managed such a nail biter.
Panels 6-11 are some of the most evocative visual storytelling I’ve seen in comics, EVER. I gasped.
I cannot compliment you enough. It seems a shame that you’re going daily after this. I mean, honestly, I’ll be ecstatic about having DAILY strips, but you know, in life when change happens, there’s always something gained and something lost, not necessarily in a bad way. It seems you’ve reached a zenith of long form visual storytelling, and I only hope your Sunday strips can keep showcasing this talent.
But, that said…ROLL ON DAILIES. I watched your live stream about it, and I am so excited.
What I love the most about your Twitter feed is that it reflects perfectly the way younger people type versus older people. Beatrix spells out everything while Baba shortens “to” to “2” and “you are” to “u r”. It’s exactly what I see in texts from my nieces versus my mother.
You pay attention to the tiniest details, and that’s what makes BCN News so wonderful. <3
Georgia, you will be wonderful. You do such a nice job with the twitch thingy, painting, cat and toddler wrangling, and keeping up a steady, lucid, and at times hysterically funny commentary, this will be a snap. I just wish I could go, and hope people recognize and appreciate the opportunity to meet you. I also get the sense that you are a genuinely nice person, and suspect that will come through clearly. Have fun and revel in it, richly deserved.
I have done things like manning a booth at a trade show and can tell you that, for me, I was either mobbed or people walked by, glanced at me, and kept going-either feast or famine. I don’t know if you will be mobbed with people or not-but can tell you that, if you want to bring traffic to you, your “May the Fourth” drawings of the kitties as Star Wars characters are irresistible and maybe perfect for this venue.
Agnes is so very happy… almost as happy as Beatrix! Love Natasha Ramboing it up (though truth to tell, I think of it as Gizmoing it up, when he parodied Rambo getting ready in Gremlins 2). Absolutely adored the final shot with the blur.
I <3 Burt's scroll.
I sure hope Beatrix's enthusiasm doesn't get her in trouble… or rather, get her hurt, 'cause she's ALREADY in trouble…
I think it was Agnes’s sister Alice who stole Buzzy Mouse last Christmas. Alice had a bah-humbug attitude toward Christmas until Baba Mouse gave her the lecture. Agnes felt sorry for Puck and wanted to give Buzzy Mouse back.
I am on the edge of my seat! That is an awesome effect with the blur. creepy good! Like so eerie! Love the itty bitty mike for Agnes. Yea! Elvis is going to freak about Bea getting away from Baba! Monday is tooo loooong to wait! 😨😸.
Agnes didn’t take Buzzy Mouse but Agnes got caught by the laundry basket by mistake. They tried to hold her hostage and that’s when she started talking to Puck. Baba Mouse rescued Agnes from the basket.
Also, I really want to know what’s going to come of Violet waiting in the trees. I think she was prepping a bag of flour, earlier, to make an explosive device.
I’m sure that Violet will show up. Georgia doesn’t leave any loose ends. Off topic, does anyone happen to know if the BCN coffee mugs are dishwasher safe? My daughter bought me the BCN mug that pictures the BCN crew reading books, and I’m afraid to wash it.
I bought the 15oz cats reading mug with the blue inside for a Christmas gift. I think he washes it by hand but Zazzle states the mug is microwave and dishwasher safe. The only problem is the way it’s stated on the site. It sounds like the basic white mug is what they are talking about but that makes no sense. I think the design you choose to put on the mug should be safe too. It’s probably worded poorly. But handwashing isn’t hard with the nice finish it has.
I have put my BCN mugs in the dishwasher and they have come out fine. I have a few of them and load ’em in. I have not noticed any loss of color or flaking, etc.
This story showed up yesterday in a local paper. Limerick is a small town about 30 miles NW of Philadelphia, PA. Was it one of Wicket’s advance scouts? Were any cats among the local residents who assisted at the scene?

Limerick Police Rescue Owl Entangled In Soccer Net
LIMERICK, PA — One local owl was a little too curious about a soccer goal net on a nearby field recently. The Limerick Police Department said that they were called this week to rescue the owl, which had become entangled in the net on South Limerick Road.
Officer Iochum and Sergeant Marchese responded to the scene. Police said that with the assistance of residents, the owl was carefully cut out of the net and safely removed.
He was then taken to the Schuylkill Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic in Roxborough.
The owl suffered an injured wing, which will be rehabiltated at the clinic, officials said. The organization plans to eventually return the owl in his native habitat on South Limerick Road.
REALLY, GEORGIA?!?! REALLY?!? ANOTHER CLIFFHANGER?!?
Ahem. Cats don’t hang on cliffs, they hang on screen doors.
True.
I know! She’s becoming the Sheherazade of the Cat News reporting world!
I think she enjoys tormenting us. 😉
Love these stories..always makes my day
War paint on Natasha? So much to see. Be careful Beatrix!!!
It’s a long time till Monday. But I know everybody will be OK in the end
Ay-yi-yi! The showdown, the mightiest prey, the owl, the porch light, the FEELS! Oh, the suspense! Just love it, Georgia, it just gets better and BETTER! And Mouse News now! Keep up the EXCELLENT work!
The game is afoot!
MN microphone! “Mouse News” the newest affiliate
love Natasha’s face paint, ready for war.
That tricksy little Bea!! But a good reporter never lets a story go. 🙂
I think Elvis and Puck are going to have words about his putting Beatrix in danger.
Also, Yay! for Agnes becoming a reporter!
Oh My Cat – It’s a NAILBITER!!
I agree! I’m on the edge of my seat!
WE NEED A SPECIAL UPDATE TONIGHT!
Hello everyone!! If you’re going to San Diego Comic Con, I will be at GoComics’ booth (booth 1505) Friday night between 5 and 6 pm! Come say hello and ask me to sign things!
SO excited! And nervous! And excited!
Congratulations! I can’t (and wouldn’t face those crowds) be there, but I am supporting you all the way. You’ve earned this! Bask in it! The culmination of a childhood dream!
Thank you, Jenna!!
Omgosh I wish I was there! I live in Florida. I’d be so giddy when I saw you
YOU’RE GOING TO HAVE A WHOLE LINE OF GLOWERING PPL DEMANDING TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS CUZ I BANGED ON THE “NEXT” BUTTON AS HARD AS I COULD BUT THERE’S NO NEXT!!!!😱😱😱😱😱😰😰😰

I love how it looks!
Loved that panel!
That’s a fantastic “shot”. Absolutely worth the effort. And the suspense is killin’ me!
Have fun at Comic Con! =)
Do you ever use the Procreate app for your art. Love your cartoons.
I don’t, but I have only just recently heard of it!
Thank you, Denise!!
And the forces converge for battle!!
Oh my lord. I just added a kitten to my family and I agree with Baba. Kittens are exhausting! I ROFL’d so loudly at that. /thumbs way, way up for this series. I’m enjoying it so much.
The defocused Wicket is magnificent!
I think he’s holding Alice in his claw! OMC!
Well, Alice was supposed to guide him to the Golden Mouse.
Natasha looks ghostly with her war paint and white body. Agnes being given her own mini mic is adorable and keeps her in on the action! I wonder what Violet is going to be doing in the trees. The suspense is killing me!
So much more interesting than the real people news. Love BaBa Mouse take on kittens her expression is priceless.
And still a big mystery – who is operating Camera One?
Another: who writes the scrolling ticker, apparently in real-time?
(Georgia, obviously, but who in-universe?)

Oh that’s a good one. I never thought of that before. Georgia, who is operating the camera?
That will come up fairly soon–possibly next month!
The local people news station has a drone. I’m thinking a few extra thumbs would help control one of those giant, mechanical July bugs!
Maybe operated by remote by Burt in the barn?
Burt is such a mensch.
Haha!! I KNEW Bea would escape!
“Also need a reporter who fits under doors” Excellent!
Ooh, have fun, Georgia, at Comic Con. Wish I could go to California just to have you sign things!!
I still can’t wait to hear the Trumpet of Doom . . .
Ah, THAT”S what Natasha was carrying! I couldn’t make it out.
This is the best soap opera EVER !!!
I think I just made a sound that only dogs can hear
Ha! Ha! None
NO! I can’t wait until Monday for this story to continue, the suspense is killing me! 😀
We’ll be expecting a report from ‘Georgia Dunn News’.

I sense an epically chaotic “battle” coming up !! Can’t wait to see how all the moving parts fit together !! 😺
I love how all the stories circle back to reference previous ones! Beatrix IS the climber! (since Puck can’t fit under the door…)
Echoing everyone’s comments about Camera One. Love Camera One -Camera One has become a character in his/her own right. S/he needs adding to the list of characters for his/her own unique contribution to any story line.
EEP! Monday is a loong way off. Our household of cats and people are on edge. Enjoy ComicCon!

I love the mini mike. So cute.
Bea is off being a kitten and having 2 I know it is exhausting. What is that in Whicket, is it Alice?
Ohhhh, I possibly sense the intense buzzing of an old annual ‘friend’ approaching.
Thank you for sharing your talent with us, Georgia. BCN was the only thing on my Facebook feed that didn’t leave me sad, angry, or cringing. It’s such a blessing to have something like BCN that is sweet, clever, and kind.

panel 5 aww mouse news mike.
Ugh, I don’t think I can wait until Monday. This is not fair. But it sure is fun!!!
Was Agnes the one who took Puck’s mouse one Christmas? That story was amazing too. I’m just as excited as Agnes is that she is a reporter now

I don’t know the answer, Sue. I have the Puck mug and decided not to risk the dishwasher. I hand wash it. I figure I can always hand wash one mug!

Son of Wicket! Who knows??
Georgia – please update us on your comic con adventure. So happy for you and so soon after starting the comic. Such an accomplishment.
Go Beatrix 🙂
