I foresee Elvis being hooked on this soap before the end of the special. Love Aunt Paisley and her cool high speed chases & Bandit’s spiritual experience in a mine shaft! If this comic thing doesn’t work out for you Georgia, you could get a gig doing soaps!!
It is just so pawsome to wake up, turn on my computer, and find a link to a new installment of BCN in my inbox, especially in these extremely trying times. Thanks for being here for us, Georgia!
Okay, I just snorted hot coffee out of my nose when I read “Are you two wearing the same dress?” 😂 Yet another great strip – thanks so much, Georgia! I’ve been stressing a lot lately because I’m scheduled to undergo a total hip replacement 1/19 (yeah, at only age 46, YAY) and there’s so much to prepare for ahead of time and to worry about. So to have the whole crew & friends back “on air” again, for at least the next little while, is an absolute godsend to me. I’m guaranteed to laugh, smile (and snort hot coffee out my nose 😆), grin and giggle, and right now that’s a gift that’s priceless to me. THANK YOU. You do all the hard work of creating the characters and the stories, and then you’re generous enough to share them with us all and we fall in love with your creations. They make us smile, laugh, and occasionally sniffle and each new strip is eagerly awaited, like visiting with old friends. Thank you, for everything.
Thanks, Georgia. Pretty nervous but needs to be done. Just want it over with at this point. So enjoying this return of the boys, even if it is temporary, thank you so much for all you do. I’m sure you’re very busy yourself, especially with the little ones and Christmas approaching – I hope you, the Man, the littles and the boys all have a wonderful, magical Christmas!
Does Paisley live in a ‘park’? 😀 My neighbors LOVE their copy of the BCN book!! Sent a copy to my vet’s office today for them to put in their lobby!
I am absolutely in LOVE with Aunt Paisley!! (Incidentally, I have an aunt that adores paisley prints and whom I have privately named “Aunt Paisley”.)
Thank you ever so much for this pre-Christmas gift! Your talent continues to warm my heart and add to my good humour.
Happy Christmas to you, the Man, the Toddler, the Baby, and your wonderful Boys. <3

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That Brads up to no good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh this is too much! I love it!! I’ve only seen soap operas here and there, mostly when my great grandmother would watch “Days of our Lives” when I was little and home sick. This brings back those memories. Thank you. 😸
Elvis made me LOL. I could hear the sarcasm in his voice, but he better watch out if he keeps watching he is going to get hooked. Though he would probably never admit it.
So is Princess wearing black to the wedding because she is mourning Captain Nimble who is lost at sea again or because she is mourning the fact that her sister is marrying that Brad guy.
I adore Aunt Paisley’s gypsy cat look! I sure hope Angora listens to her psychic insights. I couldn’t help but LOL at Sweetheart’s rather impudent question, “Are you two wearing the same dress?” :p They do bear a striking similarity except that one is white and one is black. So, Captain Nimble has been lost at sea AGAIN?? How could it happen twice?! Maybe he needs a compass. I sure don’t want Angora to marry that doofus tool Brad, but then again “betrayal, cool high speed chases, and great danger” sound like the recipe for a successful soap, so . . . *sigh*
Elvis reminds me of me. In the break room when I worked at K Mart a million years ago. That’s the way I was with all of the soaps the others were watching. All except Days of Our Lives. That one I got hooked on. Will Elvis get hooked on Our IX Lives?
Gasp! What an exciting turn of events! I already love Aunt Paisley. Can’t wait to see what comes next. Thank you, Georgia! Your Christmas presents are always worth waiting for.
Georgia,
Just gotta tell you we adopted a new little black boy kitty that showed up at the end of June at our back door. Of course, I had to name him Puck in honor of your guy. (Though I told my DH [dear hubby] that it’s because he’s quick like a hockey puck, which is also true.) It was up in the air for a while if he was going to get to stay but then one day DH fell hard in love with him and they are bros now. DH goes no where that Puck isn’t right by his side. Thanks for the inspiration.
I’m hardly a fan of soaps (just ask my mother how I respond whenever she *has* to watch Days while I’m in the room…) but the ongoing absurdity of this is just too good. And poor Nimble, washed up on yet another island…with his kittens, right??
It’s a comic about a Soap Opera. They are full of characters and over-the-top happenings. I never watched but all my girl friends did. Based on what I heard from them BCN is doing a fantastic job depicting the genre. I love the Our IX Lives episodes and this special is off to a wonderful start.
Could be a novel-the TAGGERT family was the prime actors in “ATLAS SHRUGGED” by Ayn Rand, one of the best books I have ever read. I don’t know if Georgia ever read it, but she has picked up on parts of the story line and characters. What say you, Georgia??
Haha! No, no, I’m sorry! I hate to confess, ‘Taggart’ is a surname in a terrifically cheesy, delightfully way over the top romance novel I picked up somewhere in my early teens and read to pieces. When I decided to create soap opera cat characters, I went with very traditional “pet” names for the first names (possible future spoiler: Kit’s real name is Kitty) and dramatic soap opera/romance novel names for the last names. Taggart jumped to mind. So, in a way I am paying homage to a literary work by choosing the name ‘Taggart’ but, not anything quite along the lines of ‘Atlas Shrugged’.
Brad is named Brad because I think the best romantic rivals are named Brad–no offense to any readers named Brad! On the contrary, you’be got a dreamy name!
Well, this is actually one of the things I love best about BCN-Georgia can do longer form stories AND shorter, quick vignettes. This one is a longer style, a Christmas serial, but has punch lines and witticisms woven in in unexpected places. I think the unconventional format is terrific-love the little touches, sarcastic Elvis, little ear bumps in the motorcycle helmet on Bandit, the tissue box held by sweetheart, the cat head shaped doorway, the explanation that the family runs a thriving fish oil business-brilliant.
One of my roommates in college used to tape a couple of the soaps in the late 90’s and then fast forward through them, pausing only to watch the story lines she was interested in. Took her about 15 minutes to go through a couple of hours of soaps. I asked her one day why she kept following a rather weird plot line on Guiding Light. She laughed and told me the lady was supposedly found in Amish country around her hometown of Goshen, IN and she was watching to see just how inaccurate they were. The answer to that was WILDLY.
Good Grief Georgia: How ever do you do it! I trust you don’t spend hours watching Soaps, but you have the it all down pat! I for one enjoy your sly take on them. WE must get you into major papers! Hugs, T
The ‘Kit’ gingerbread biscuit in the title…kill me now! Soooo cute. I was a huge DOOL fan in uni and used to skip classes to watch Patch and Kayla, now I’ve got Kit to drool over. X
Thank you!
I’m not a soap opera fan but I’d definitely watch this one in real life! Best soap ever, you’re a genius Georgia! Can’t wait for other parts!
I second that!
This is awesome! Better than Days of our lives. This Patch will be much better too.
OMC, new character. Such fun. And a cleaver way to bring us up to speed.
Elvis being the Mystery Science Theater 3000 voice will MAKE this!
Announcer: The part of Aunt Paisley is voiced by Baba Mouse.

I have no idea how my comment ended up here!! Must be plot twist.
Yay! Thank you! And I love that song!
I knew you’d ‘get’ that reference!! 😀 Love that whole album!!

I’m guessing you were a big soap opera fan in the 80s and 90s, right?
Ohhhh, yes! Lol!

For a moment I thought that was Baba Mouse strolling onto the set!

Bwwahahaha!! Sound like a Two-leg soap opera!
“Are you two wearing the same dress?” ROFLMAO! Sharp kitten; reminds me of Beatrix. 😀 >^..^<
Yes, Kitten, your mom and your auntie are wearing the same style dress…just one is black and one is white!
Elvis reminds me of me. In the break room when I worked at K Mart a million years ago. That’s the way I was with all of the soaps the others were watching. All except Days of Our Lives. That one I got hooked on. Will Elvis get hooked on Our IX Lives?
BEST SOAP EVER!

Thank you! You made my day. Think I am going to like Aunt Paisley. Merry Christmas to you and, yours.
Good ol’ Aunt Paisley. Deus ex machina is alive and well 🙂
Elvis is about to hide the remote 😉

Oh THAT aunt paisley, ha ha
Is aunt paisley Scottish ?
too many characters & too much plot. this is a comic, not a novel!
It’s a soap opera within a comic. Soaps have lots of characters, and lots of plot lines that go on wavy twisty turns.

“over the top”? If it is a romance novel, shouldn’t it be “under the top”? Or does this get into high and low versions of the genre like fantasy does?
Holy Cat!

Cue the theme music. Next episode, will they marry? And who killed J.R. Meowing?

Thank you, Bryan!

I was beginning to wonder if Sweetheart Taggart only said other peoples’ names, and then along came the dress question. I love this special!
I think Georgia already has a gig doing soaps.
My friend Sarah has a cat named Paisley! She stars in her own webcomic, Hey Pais http://heypais.com/
Thank you Georgia Dunn for the wonderful Christmas present!
She looks like a…
Smores: don’t say it
An accurate Trelawny.
Smores: *sigh*
Have recently lost my Rennie to kidney disease and the return of this strip is doing wonders for my mood.
I’m so sorry to hear that. I’m glad the strip could help!
