This is so cute, Georgia! I commented at Go Comics this morning — are these actually quotes from the Toddler? Does he have an alligator potty seat? Puck is so embarrassed! Thanks for the humor!
In real life Toddler has been training for a while now and has a “froggy potty.” (Just what it sounds like, a frog instead of the alligator here). He lets everyone know it is HIS froggy potty. And yes, many of these are real quotes from him, ha! He has become very interested in potties, including the “kitty potties” (Litter boxes).
The best part being her CN logo covers up the enlargement of the book title. Look again — we didn’t need to see the same word in two frames and larger. Nice touch, GD!
(I hope you don’t mind me using your initials, O Skilled Artiste. It also happens to be the initials of my employer’s corporate parent and part of our own acronym. When you read BCN from work you make it LOOK like work.)
I love the blush on puck’s face! Such a sensitive little guy. I read you on gocomics before work but I love your work so much I have to come to your website to enjoy it again.
I just love how embarrassed Puck is. I have noticed that most cats value their privacy when it comes to “going.”
I just love the toddler stage. The way they talk and perceive things is just priceless.
My youngest used to sound like a pirate, saying “me” instead of “I”. I was so sad when she stopped talking like that.
Does this strip confirm the toddler can understand what the cats are saying? I know your strip from a few weeks ago (on GoComics anyway) implied that he knew about the cameras\reports etc. (somehow I have this image of him with little reporter puppets at a mock “news desk” saying “mow, mow, mow” with the beige cat getting all puffy and indignant unaware that the toddler switched to an equally puffy puppet behind him).
While I am always very insistent that however the comic is written, the Man, the Woman, and all of the adults cannot understand any of the cats–I leave it open to everyone’s interpretation when it comes whether or not Toddler and Baby understand them. π Kids see things we adults miss.
I do try to write Toddler and Baby’s interactions with the cats to keep it open either way, though. If people think he can’t, he could just be talking to the cats (which he does all day long) and Elvis is taking advantage of a pause between kiddo-babble. If people think he can, then he’s the first person to give an interview to the cats.
Is real life Lupin interested in stickers too? I used to have a cat who seemed to like things that had sticky stuff on them, like the labels that are stuck on clothes with the size info and things like that. I always figured it was something in the glue. I wasn’t sure if it was good for her so I would always try not to leave them somewhere she could get them.
Trying to give the sticker to the wrong kitty, Toddler! I love Bea’s reaction to how People potty, too. And Puck’s “Um, yes, I’ve been successfully pottying for longer than you’ve been around. I do not need your help. Or approval. Woman, HELP!”
Georgia! LOVE that you are now on GoComics and synced! Got to work at 6:30am and BAM there your were! LOVED it! Then took my break at 10:30 and you’re on the website. This is just too GREAT!
I put newspaper down from my two children so they don’t track the sand – so I always know when one is done because she also scratches the newspaper – just to make sure everything is covered! ! ! So NOW I know she is actually reading the paper! LOL!
Puck seeking comfort and Lupin being distracted by the sticker in the last panel – just the best! Yo! π
Extremely minor point, but I think there should be a comma in Beatrix’s comment in panel 4 – “book, until”.
Hi!! The part of People carry their litter in their Pants was super funny. Toddler is realky cool and Elvis is having fun!! Beatrix is great to see again. This whole comic today was fun!!
My niece is potty training too! I wish she had a kitty potty since she loves kitties. But, uh… Maybe that’s not such a good idea after all. She might pee on the family cats… O.o
I forgot to mention, where I volunteer we currently have a Puck-ish tabby missing his right hind leg. He came in with it badly broken and necrotic. He’s super sweet, and he got named Captain Jack Sparrow, and I AM SO SAD BECAUSE I CAN’T ADOPT HIM AND I LOVE HIM WAAAAAAAAAH!!!! DX
High stakes potty training, stickers, and a book called Poop is Everywhere, how could anyone not love this strip! Thanks so much for the laughs and sharing your family with us. YO IS THAT A STICKER
I often tell my cats that I have to use the litter box before I can _____ (the blank is usually “feed them”). So the Toddler’s comment when Puck came out of the litter box made me chuckle.
I meant to ask – does anyone else have a boycat that poops / pees standing up? Like 2 front paws on the wall standing up? I know of one other person who has a cat that does, but I thought I’d see if we have the only 2 weirdos!
Does he seem to be straining extra hard when he does his business? If so, maybe you should check with your vet to see if there is a problem. Otherwise, maybe he’s fastidious and doesn’t want to soil his front paws…
Now I want to go see if there’s really a book called “Poop is Everywhere”!
I know that Terry Pratchett wrote the book “Everybody Poops”, after it was a plot point in one of his Diskworld books, and multiple fans insisted they wanted to read it!

Georgia: I ordered the framed art print of Reading Books, 12″ by 10″, in the conservation pecan frame! Since it was my first order, I even got a 10% discount! π
One of my cats loves anything sticky so she’d like to get a sticker every time she used the litter box. Alas, I do not have a toddler to provide stickers for her! I love every one of the strips and each new one becomes my favorite.
Aww, poor Puck! He just wants to use the box in peace! My Thumper always freaks out if I walk into the laundry room (where the cat box is) while she’s using it. (It’s even worse at our summer place, because the box is on the enclosed porch, which is where I tend to hang out since I’m low man on the single-TV totem pole)
I love Beatrix’s simultaneous awe and revulsion.
And the “Oh, wait, baby uses diapers” newscrawl lol
I forgot to add to my comment earlier that my 2 more copies of the BCN book arrived today – after the trauma of the lost-book episode when it first came out, I was very relieved that these arrived with no fuss or bother! One is for a friend who sees the strip here and knows I got the book for her (hi, Laraine!) and the other is for my mother on her 85th birthday – she’s still on a dial-up modem thingie, so can’t access online stuff (unless she waits a zillion hours for anything to upload), so it’ll be new to her and a treat, I know. So you’ve made two more people happy, Georgia, as you make us all happy!
That is terrific Alison, thank you!! My Nana is 88 and has enjoyed the book, I hope your mother will too! Until the book came out, she didn’t have a way to read these because she’s never had a computer!
read it at gocomics came for the communitys comments.
we keep our litter box in the bathroom. i always wait in line before going into the bathroom. need my privacy and cats do too.
love seeing puck getting a hug from the lady.
So many things to love. My top two are 1) the sock on Toddler that is coming off. That is just such a real-life detail. 2) Pucky bear in the last panel. Just seeing him need comfort from the Woman. I’m pretty sure every time I’ve re-read the strip, when I get to that, I involuntarily make a boo-boo face and say oh, poor Pucky. It’s soooo sweet.
Fourth panel, there should probably be comma in the sentence “According to this book until potty training…” Otherwise, it’s rather confusing, though it’s not incorrect. Definitely tripped me up, had to re-read the sentence to figure it out.
“My youngest used to sound like a pirate, saying βmeβ instead of βIβ. I was so sad when she stopped talking like that.”
My daughter used to use the pronoun “she” for everybody, humans and cats alike. I had to explain “You’re a she, and I’m a she, and Aunt Kate’s a she, and Cream Cheese is a she. Daddy’s a he, and David’s a he, and Number Two is a he.” (the last-named in each list being cats.) Over and over again. I think it finally sank in when she was about four.
Oh, sweet Puck. He doesn’t like his personal issues being made so public. But toddlers call everything like they see it. Does The Toddler call attention to you and The Man as well?
Yang used to perch on the rim of the box so that no part of his body got down in the icky litter. Sometimes the box was cardboard and occasionally too weak to support his weight, and he looked very precarious sitting on the edge like that.
Still dying over this one! Elvis’ “The stakes have never been higher” and the blank look on his face in the next panel still have me laughing over a week later!
Dear Georgia, I just pottytrained my third child, and I pull up this page to show her and her big brothers all the time. I know itβs not the typical βyouβre a big kid now, time to use the potty and get underwear!β formula of so many other potty training books. But the above strip has to be your first board book! Itβs ready! Itβs the perfect layout for the short 10-14 page board books. Kids, parents, and per lovers will love it. (Please keep Puck in his original watercolor-black form with his lovely blush of embarrassment when you do the inevitable and publish this board book.) Thanks, Beth

O.M.G. Puck has a newspaper with him in the litter box! Ha!!!!!!! Love it. We’ve often talked about our cats doing that. π
Oh My Cat!!
This is hilarious.
Sticker!
I love this comic, and every strip is ALWAYS funny, but this one had me HOWLING with laughter. (Especially panel 7.) Poor Pucky, I’d be scarred too.
I love this strip. π
Poor Puck needing comfort. If that had happened to Elvis, I imagine he would have ‘poofed’!
Made me laugh.
*hugs Puck*
Yo, is that a sticker?
Silly Lupin, the Woman said you don’t want stickers!
I love the newspaper in Puck’s paws.
Love Puck’s newspaper! And nice to see Beatrix again, doing research
Oooooooooooooh! Stickers! Does Lupin proudly wear stickers on his forehead? π And hearts for Beatrix’s commentary!
“People carry their litter in their pants…which sounds super convenient and really awful.” What a perfect summation!
“YO, is that a sticker?” Puck with the newspaper and the fangs out! Beatrix’s CN book logo! Love it all!
The best part being her CN logo covers up the enlargement of the book title. Look again — we didn’t need to see the same word in two frames and larger. Nice touch, GD!

Today’s comic should come with a warning – Put down all beverages before reading!
So funny!
I love the blush on puck’s face! Such a sensitive little guy. I read you on gocomics before work but I love your work so much I have to come to your website to enjoy it again.

“People carry their litter in their pants.”…OH MY CAAATTT ! ROFLMBO !!!

He will peel them right off an apple with his teeth if we’re not careful, ha!
Must be something in the smell of the plastic, or more likely the adhesive.
Or maybe it’s just the infinite mystery of felinity β¦
Trying to give the sticker to the wrong kitty, Toddler! I love Bea’s reaction to how People potty, too. And Puck’s “Um, yes, I’ve been successfully pottying for longer than you’ve been around. I do not need your help. Or approval. Woman, HELP!”
Aw, poor embarrassed Pucky! Love Bea’s commentary, too!
Stickers!!!! Love Lupin’s BIG green eyes and sweet little Puck is adorable as always! So many hearts!!!
Georgia! LOVE that you are now on GoComics and synced! Got to work at 6:30am and BAM there your were! LOVED it! Then took my break at 10:30 and you’re on the website. This is just too GREAT!

Love how Puck brings a newspaper to the litter box
Lol! My girls go bananas for stickers, and if I’m not careful, I wind up vacuuming vast amounts of tiny paper pills. βΊ
High stakes potty training, stickers, and a book called Poop is Everywhere, how could anyone not love this strip! Thanks so much for the laughs and sharing your family with us. YO IS THAT A STICKER
I think no one else ever needs to write anything else re potty training that isn’t strictly instructional. Well done, Ms. Dunn!
“YO, IS THAT A STICKER?” sez the cat who wants a sticker …
Did Lupin get his sticker? Hahahaha
Like kitty litter, human litter is especially awful for the one who’s got to change it.
Absolutely hilarious! Even kitties like their privacy. And poor Puck is embarrassed.
Hahahaha!! Puck with his newspaper, horrified Beatrix, Lupin going for the sticker….the best!!πΈπΈ

story of my life right now. princess stickers everywhere. π
Now I want to go see if there’s really a book called “Poop is Everywhere”!
I know that Terry Pratchett wrote the book “Everybody Poops”, after it was a plot point in one of his Diskworld books, and multiple fans insisted they wanted to read it!
Wups! I’m wrong – Pratchett’s book is “The World of Poo”. For curious, scientifically-minded children.

I want a sticker
I love Puck holding onto the Woman in the last panel. His boundaries have been invaded.
lol I was just going to comment on that very thing. Poor guy, he looks positively freaked out.
Did you know the stickers on fruit and veg are edible paper with a food-grade adhesive? I only recently learned this.
One of my cats loves anything sticky so she’d like to get a sticker every time she used the litter box. Alas, I do not have a toddler to provide stickers for her! I love every one of the strips and each new one becomes my favorite.

I love Beatrix’s simultaneous awe and revulsion.
And the “Oh, wait, baby uses diapers” newscrawl lol
Love the “oh wait, baby wears diapers” in the crawl! =)
The Toddler is calling Puck “kitty.” Does this mean Puck is no longer “mom cat?”
Saw this in gocomics this morning, but I’ve decided to keep comments here. That said, ” Oh My Cat!!!” I want to hug little Picky so badly!!
Yup. Had to get the extra tall box when he was a wee lad, and now a tray under it as he will splash a tad.
I forgot to add to my comment earlier that my 2 more copies of the BCN book arrived today – after the trauma of the lost-book episode when it first came out, I was very relieved that these arrived with no fuss or bother! Love this. My 2 kittens seen very interested when I go potty. One try’s to “look” behind me to see what is going on.
read it at gocomics came for the communitys comments.
we keep our litter box in the bathroom. i always wait in line before going into the bathroom. need my privacy and cats do too.
love seeing puck getting a hug from the lady.
I love that Pucky is blushing..:)
So what is the news team’s view on toilet paper?
Lupin’s huge eyes in the last frame are awesome!
Butt.. butt.. -I- wanna sticker……! π
Yay! The sock–that is a constant. π
Fourth panel, there should probably be comma in the sentence “According to this book until potty training…” Otherwise, it’s rather confusing, though it’s not incorrect. Definitely tripped me up, had to re-read the sentence to figure it out.
I guess I’ll clarify that I meant a comma after “book,” as in “According to this book, until potty training, People…”
Haha! Lupin wants a sticker! I love all the expressions–everything from elated and pleased to disturbed and embarrassed. π
Looks like Lupin wants a sticker.
Wait, is Pucky blushing in panel 7? That’s so adorable!
My Cat,after all these years I can still remember my potty! My potty was a ducky, OK? I used to love turning its plastic head round.
Love Picky with the newspaper! Love the way he clings to “The Woman” because he just wants to “go” in private! Poor li’l kitty!
I just want to cuddle poor Puck!
The people^Wcats have a right to know!
Yang used to perch on the rim of the box so that no part of his body got down in the icky litter. Sometimes the box was cardboard and occasionally too weak to support his weight, and he looked very precarious sitting on the edge like that.
Anyone visit http://www.gocomics.com/lay-lines/2016/06/10 yesterday or today?
I love how Puck is blushing. The poor little guy is clearly traumatized.
Pucky! Stupid autocorrect! And this has to be one of my favorite strips ever!
I love having this strip up to date on GoComics. I’m on the east coast and it is great to read this strip with my morning coffee π
Still dying over this one! Elvis’ “The stakes have never been higher” and the blank look on his face in the next panel still have me laughing over a week later!
Everything smells like lemon………not gonna ask.
Dear Georgia, I just pottytrained my third child, and I pull up this page to show her and her big brothers all the time. I love this idea!!!
