Chapter: Holiday News
Characters: Agnes, Alice, Baba Mouse, Burt, Buzzy Mouse, Elvis, Lupin, Natasha, Puck, robber mice, Sophie, The Man, Tommy, Violet
A little bit before midnight, it’s time for part two! I hope everyone is having a great December! I am going to be traveling over the next few days, and so Thursday’s installment may be a bit late. (Not too late, but it might be closer to Friday). I tried to pack a LOT into this strip to hold you over and give you a lot to look forward to, wonder about, and giggle at before part three. I hope you enjoy it!
I want a print of the last frame so I can get it for someone for Christmas…
Maybe put a closeup of Puck in the last panel on facebook for us to grab?
omg seconded @corvin!!
My girlfriend just saw this and said “OH MY GOD I WANT THE LAST FRAME…” and I said “Scroll down further”
Oh no, Pucky’s gonna go all Mel Gibson and offer a cheese wheel for the mouse-napper’s tails.
GREAT reference…..
Forget Mel Gibson, Pucky is going to go full on Liam Neeson.
no… pucks going all SANS/DISBELIEF PAPYRUS #UndertaleXBreakingCatNews
Oh my, I love how Puck’s ears are so expressive! From despair, working up to furious anger, the ears tell the story. Thank you Georgia, and enjoy your travels.
Also Puck’s expression of frozen shock in panels 6 and 9. He’s stunned!
Packed a lot in! What an understatement! I laughed, I cried, I cheered! Go Puckie! (And the robber mice are all girls – who saw THAT coming?!) Fabulous job once again, Georgia!
I don’t believe in bad luck if a black cat crosses your path (I own one, after all), but they can definitely be bad NEWS if you cross them!
I foresee Pucky being like a mother bear with her cub in danger!
Puck has snapped harder than his candy cane… this means WAR!
(Please, please, please tell me he’s going to put on a Rambo bandana like Gizmo in Gremlins 2…)
Safe travels!
Oh, yeah…..GOT to get the bandana and (maybe) some kind of bandolier filled with……(XMas ornaments, cheese…..)?
I don’t know where this exactly is going but I love Puck at the end. Revenge!
WOW. Lupin is grinning at the news of robber mice. What’s up with that? Happy Holidays everyone!
Could it be that Lupin sees them as Mice of Adventure???
I’ll bet he does see them as Mice of Adventure!
Love Elvis and Lupin’s reactions and expressions in the last panel! Also the fact that Lupin’s still smiling even in the 17th panel. (Wow! That’s a lot of panels! …and work!!)
Have a fun AND safe trip, Georgia!
This is so wonderful, funny, cute, etc. Inquiring minds want to know, is the snowman on Tommy’s Christmas sweater wearing an Hawaiian shirt?
Oh, I love all of the detail you put in your pieces. I loved the red eyes on the white mouse!!!
It is!! Thank you for noticing, Megan! 😀
Safe travels! Catch you on the flip side.
Cats love mice. They are tasty and crunchy and are good with sauce. GO PUCKY!!!
Yikes! Pucky!
Wow, Georgia, you packed a lot in is an understatement! Revenge! Is Puck’s new name. Have a good trip and Season’s Greetings to all.
Careful, mice. Puck has a very particular set of skills, and he will find you.
ROTFL! Brilliant!
Love everyone cleaning their teeth with bottle-brush trees! And Elvis’ puffy tail as Pucky the Terrible rises up and declares his vendetta! Also, why **is** Lupin smiling about the robber mice? Does the Cat of Adventure sense new spaces to explore as he pursues the nefarious rodents?
Cassie, Lupin is the Cat of Adventure and sees only opportunities to don his fedora and swing from clotheslines! And Puck! We’ve never seen him snap before!!!
Hmmn, never thought of it that way…
What a lovely surprise for late Sunday night!
Safe travels!
Oh! Oh! OH! The EARS OF DOOM! Oh robber mice, what HAVE you done?
Good fortune on your travels!
GO, Puck, go!
I shared Part 1 with friends. I’ll have to tell one of them he was right. The gang wants cheese….It’s just as well they didn’t want their own news channel as another friend suggested. Imagine the consternation that would cause!
Safe journeys, Georgia.
You have to admire those robber mice girls. Even with a crayon twice their size, they can still manage remarkably neat handwriting!
Action movie Christmas!
I hear Puck talking the voice of Liam Neeson.
I’m thinking more Sylvester Stallone or Roger Craig?
You mean Daniel Craig? (Whom I think that you may have confused with Roger Moore.)
Or Bruce Willis. “Die Hard” is absolutely a Christmas movie. Yippee ki yay, robber mouses.
Yeah, but John McClane was coarse and crass.
Rambo had been through a lot as a soldier, but all he really wanted was to live peaceably with his fellow mice… um, men. He was happy at the monastery. But when his friend was taken prisoner, he was prepared to do what he had to in order to save him.
Do we see the very Moment of Abduction, captured by the all-seeing “pre-taped” eye???
The BCN news ticker is the best!
Holy schnickies… I haven’t seen a Puck that dangerous since I attended a hockey game with insufficient backguards behind the net.
best comment ever!🐱
**SECONDED!**
KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!
Jenny!! Priceless!!
“There are three things all wise men fear: the sea in storm, a night with no moon, and the anger of a gentle man.” –Patrick Rothfuss.
Great quote Padanew!!
😮 Those crazy mice–they’ve gotten away with stealing long enough. Puck is on the rampage. 😉
Oh my goodnight, what a brilliant strip. Panel three is absolutely hilarious -and now I will have to spend the rest of the day looking at each panel and each detail. I’ll be busy for hours. A roller coaster of emotions, you have surpassed yourself today Georgia. I don’t think there is any other comic that can engage the reader emotionally to this degree. You are a brilliant story teller as well as comic book genius.
Someone get a wheel of cheese for buzzy mouse – quick – we do some fabulous Stilton cheeses in this part of the country – where do I donate 🙂
Natasha mouse seems happy. Tommy would like her, I’m sure. Sophie certainly does a lot of reading.
This Christmas strip will be another classic, like last years where Elvis was lost.
Oh my cat! Love the strip and Elvis puffy tail in the last panel. What have the robber mice done. They have united all the feline members of the house and beyond. Except Sophie but she may come around.
Have a safe trip.
oh, sweet Pucky, that’s not the Christmas spirit.
It is if your friend is in trouble.
Love that little Picky rises to the challenge.
I am sad for Pucky. Especially since it has made our normally sweet and gentle boy all angry and vengeful. I think Lupin sees them as adventuresome buccaneers, and I rather liked them before they swiped Buzzy Mouse.
That was my feeling, too! I hope Puck is still sweet by the end.
What a wonderful surprise to wake up to on a Monday. Love the way Tommy and Burt are involved. Kitties unite!
Safe travels, Georgia. (did you ever guess that you would have such a loyal following?)
I want to see puck go all batman and be like “FOR JUSTICE”.
And just WHAT exactly is that naughty robber mouse, Violet, saying in the last pre-taped footage panel???? It seems to be partially obscured by the “PRE TAPED” graphic… It seems to say… *GASP* Georgia!!!!!! I’m shocked!!! Shocked and appalled!!! Lol! 🙂
Haha, I think she’s saying, “got it”. But at first glance it does look naughty.
She’s saying “Get it!”. At first, I didn’t see the Ge in “Get”. I saw “(Ge)t it”. I knew I had to be seeing it incorrectly. That would’ve made no sense. If you make the picture larger, though, you can see “Getit!”.
I agree it looks like “Got it”, as in “I’ve got it”.
Made a felt catnip mouse with my kids’ craft class last week…I could sent PUCK one to soothe his loss. Buzzy must be brought home safely! Look out Robber Mice..you’ve picked the wrong cat as your victim!
The “WHAT” panel. I died. Dead. I’m now a ghost that will forever be enamored with the contrasting expressions on Lupin and Elvis’s faces.
Poor Pucky, He’s a cat on the edge! Lupin’s looks thrilled to have a new adventure, and Elvis defending Puck once again is fabulous..I love the triangle mouth when he becomes so angry. No fuzz here, just plain empathy for his little Puck.So well written, I loved every panel. have a safe trip and enjoy..Can’t wait for the next one!!!!😊😊😊
My problem: I recognize the last three of the pre-taped scene/panels. But I can’t place the first one. Help anyone?
Halloween Special finale. When Puck is watching the burial from the window.
Nope, sorry. I’m wrong. It’s from BCN Test Broadcast, posted September 24th.
thanks, chicky! I was wondering about that!
Hee you go http://www.breakingcatnews.com/comic/bcn-test-broadcast-_type-headline-here_/. I love this. Tommy is such a sweet spirit.
It’s from the September 24 BCN test broadcast. 🙂
I think it’s from the Halloween special.
Kudos to those who could pinpoint it. I recognized it and remembered seeing the mice in it, but couldn’t say exactly what it was from.
Pucky, pucky, pucky,
Tis the season for love, and caring and…..never mind!
GO GET THEM PUCKY! 🙂
I hope Baba Cat teams up with Puck 🙂
I saw her watching from behind Burt lol
That would be so awesome! They would make a fantastic duo! I’m betting Baba Mouse has her own strategies on taking on the Robbe Mice gang!😆
“My name is Puckio Montoya. You stole my mouse toy. Prepare to die!”
Brilliant….wish I’d thought of that one…..
OK…Sly Stallone in “Rambo” “I’ll give you a war like you wouldn’t believe.”
Ha ha! Funny and pawsome to read!!
“I fear we have but awakened a sleeping giant,
and filled him with a terrible resolve.”
ooh, good and timely!
“Demons run when a good man goes to war…”.
Beware The Nice Ones indeed. I just hope the Puckster doesn’t go *too* dark. I don’t want to see mouse guts spread over several panels.
My nine year old daughter shares this sentiment! Don’t go to the dark side, Puck!
Oh no Pucky, don’t let them turn you into Rambo! My heart broke for you in panel 18. Seek the peaceful resolution! We need Baba Mouse to move in since she was so successful getting them out of the barn. By the way, is Buzzy Mouse a girl or boy? I’ve always assumed male, but then I thought all of the Robber Mice were male too. Enjoy your travelling Georgia.
I’m starting to feel sorry for poor Agnes. First she didn’t want to write the ransom note, and here she looks so mortified in her mug shot. Stay good, Agnes, stay good!
Now imagining Puckie dressed as Rambo – Puckbo
BEST COMIC YET!!!!!!!!
Go Puck!!
never come between a cat and their favorite toy!
Love it Georgia! Kitty revenge is sweet hahaha! Baited breath comes to mind X
I have to admit the comnent are as much fun to read as the panels are…ladt frame is, Catastic!! All I want for Christmas is revenge!! I loved every frame of today’s comic. Robber mice with names and numbers on the black thingys. Woot woot!!
I agree totally. I come back to each strip probably 20 times to read the comments and look for things I’ve missed!
Puck could get his Gino on from Out For Justice Steven Seagal movie!!
Aw, Pucky’s going all Ninja! I hope he retrieves Buzzy Mouse safe and unharmed…. And you, Georgia, have a wonderful and safe trip too – we’ll be waiting for Part Three when you return!
Camera one?
The who’s-a-thing-now? – that just tickles me pink!
Yes. Loved that! I want that as an avatar now!
Go Get’em Pucky!
I am trying to recall what Georgia said said the live feed. It maybe it was here. Something about Pucky being the mouser of the bunch.?? Do I have that right?
(Lindacatsrule on the live feed)
I don’t follow the stream, but Georgia has said in the comments that Puck’s the hunter of the trio. http://www.breakingcatnews.com/comic/theres-a-cricket-somewhere-in-the-apartment/
Yes, Pucky is the mouser of the trio.
The last panel reminded me of Scarlett in GWTW As God is my witness, I’ll never lose Buzzy Mouse again. or something like that.
is lupin grinning in panel 17?? 🙂
Cedar Falls? Were the mice arrested in northeast Iowa when those mugshots were taken? Or is there a Cedar Falls in RI?
Whelp, the Robber Mice have ticked off the Mighty Hunter of the family. Nice knowing ’em. Mouse is looking interested in the background there, I wonder if she’ll be providing any assistance here.
By the way, if the robber mice are convicts #005 through 008, then who’s 001 through 004?
I need that last panel on a Tshirt – oh yes. 🙂
I wonder why the robber mice turned to kidnapping? Are they not able to steal enough for some reason, do they have out of town robber mice coming for Christmas and they need more food? They may have made a mistake taking Puckie’s favorite toy. Puck is so sensitive he might have felt sorry for even mice and helped them out if they needed help, but now I am not sure anything will cause him to sympathize with them.
Elvis knows what is about to happen. Love his fluffed tail. Have a safe trip Georgia.
Just going about my business today and Elvis popped into my head saying. “The station got a letter.” Made me laugh.
Haha!! 😀
I can’t be the only one who wants to see the envelope, how it was addressed, the stamp, and franking. and what/who were the means of delivery?
REVENGE!!! Can I use that shot as a Facebook banner? 😀
Yes, Derek!! Thank you for asking! 🙂
Here I thought it would be Elvis getting rowdy revenge. Watch out for the cute ones…
Since this is a family-friendly comic, I bet it doesn’t end like my family’s Christmas tale! One Christmas morning my mom went out to the barn to feed horses and the feral barn cat had gotten into the feed room and left THIRTEEN deceased mice lined up in a row! I guess that was her Christmas present to us! These comic mice are cute but real mice, hantavirus no thank you!
Every cat I’ve ever known who was indoor/outdoor or totally outdoor ate the mice they caught. But thirteen mice is a lot to eat at one time, even if a cat was very large and hungry! So, Allie, maybe the barn cat was intending a mouse or two for your mom as a gift and hoped your mom would stuff with catnip dressing and roast the rest for Christmas dinner for her (the barn cat) and visiting family. As a thank you for her hard work keeping barn mice under control. 😸
The cat put the mice in the feed room for later. Where else would you put food in a barn?
Good kitty!
Poor Pucky! Also, angry Elvis! Hehe!
Oh, my poor gentle Pucky Cat!
I love the bottle brush tree chomping.
Me, too! A few years ago, I bought a fiber optic tree. It was beautiful, but I ended up having to take it down because my cat would not stop chomping on it. I ended up donating it to Goodwill.
The funny thing is while Elvis and Lupin are full-on chomping the mini-trees to smithereens, it looks like Puck (being the sweet good boy we know) is actually brushing his teeth with one. It can be seen by the way he’s holding the stem and the puffed out opposite cheek. I love all of the Boys but my hear truly belongs to Puck!
Do the humans know there is a spy cam in the house?
I think they should be told
I have been thinking of kitty tooth floss EVERY TIME I see the bottle brush Xmas trees on my co-workers’ desks. I am forever changed 🙂
I’ve two thoughts about the return of Buzzy Mouse; one involving Sophie and the other, Agnes. It’s possible that Sophie’s really not disinterested but is reading up on ways of dealing with kidnappers (Buzzy-nappers) and will join the rest of the Cat Brigade to assist Pucky. As for Agnes, she was reluctant to write a ransom note and she’s also missing in the scene where the other Robber Mice are stealing Buzzy Mouse. Perhaps her heart softens and she returns Puck’s toy to him and he thanks her with some cheese for her kindness.
I don’t think we have anything to worry about Puck getting nasty vengeful or violence being visited upon the Robber Mice ladies. After all, this is a child friendly comic AND Georgia had pet mice of her own. She’d never want harm to come to any.
OTOH, Georgia is a mother. Moms can get quite ornery when their kids are threatened. Not that I expect the strip will take such a turn, but surprises are part of an author’s arsenal.
I love Breaking Cat News – usually I laugh, sometimes I cry, but I always enjoy the boys and the lovely artwork. Thank you for creating them!
So that is where the man’s pen went!
Today’s (Dec. 10) “Mutts” comic in my local newspaper had a cat anchor and reporter (complete with a “Breaking News” trailer) covering the sad tale of three little kittens who lost their mittens, complete with the poem and an interview with their mom, showing her big-tailed reaction to the news. I guess “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”. Georgia, the “big league” guys are copying your ideas!
…and that news continues today (Dec. 11) with the announcement, “…and they shall have no pie”!
Yes, I saw that. They have been running that for a couple days. Made me think of the woman broadcasting in the nursery strip from a while back.
Re-reading them today, I noticed that Agnes and Alice changed colors from their mouse mug shots. Trying to throw the cops off their trail hrm? 🙂
Never mind, my bad. dang thought I caught some super secret mouse gang thing.
Alice Agnes violet and Natasha….. Tsk tsk tsk what trouble makers
