Hi! This is my first time commenting but I have been reading for awhile now.
I can’t remember just how I discovered BCN but I am so happy that I did.
And that last panel? LOL!
Georgia you are just so talented and I love reading about the adventures of your furry family members. Thank you so much for sharing them all with us.
Mmm…doughnuts…..totally miss Tim Hortons over here (Canadian living in Liverpool, England) but fortunately we do get Krispy Kreme over here and in February they actually do a filled doughnut decorated like a ladybug!!
BTW – love how Lupin is kind of freaked out in panel one and Beatrix’s fuzzy paws handing the note to Puck in panel four and the face Elvis is pulling in panel three!! Also the “Donaut” illustration – inspired 😀
Georgia, I’ve never written a comment here before, but I just wanted to thank you for your wonderful comic strip! My sweet 15-year old kitty, Whiskers, was put to sleep 3 weeks ago due to cancer and I miss him terribly but reading your strip brings a smile to my face. Puck’s personality reminds me a lot of Whiskers! Thank you for your awesome work and I hope you will keep writing this strip for a long time!
Dear Cin, I’m so sorry for your loss of a great friend. As Amy (above) has also said, I can tell he had an amazing life with you. Remember it all and take care. Cat power never fades:)
Dear Georgia, Amy, and Gil – thank you sooo much for your wonderful words of comfort! Putting Whiskers to sleep was the most difficult thing I ever had to do in my life and I’m so fortunate that there is an awesome, loving “cat community” that understands the love we have for our fur babies! Bless you all! Yes, cat power never fades!
LOL You must have posted this just moments after I had checked for it!
The phrase Puck is looking for there is “Where do they HAIL from”, not “herald” – or more formally, “From whence do they hail?” “Herald” and “hail” are similar, both meaning “announce”, but the phrase “hail from” indicates a place of origin. Sorry, I was an English major. 🙂
You do make a good point. Technically, the question would be “whence do they hail?”, although I have seen it in literature from several periods preceeded by “from”. It sort of makes one wonder why that many authors would use it that way… apart from simply not knowing any better.
OK, that’s NOT a fair way to start a Monday morning…one look at the strip required a trip to the local store for a box of donauts to start my day. Not great for the diet, but that sugary brisket…and Elvis is quite correct–they ARE filled with goop. And delicious. But only a glimpse of Beatrix’s tail? We need more!
When we bring home donuts, our little mews-caster, Chase, is very interested. Cats can’t even taste sweet, but he is crazy intrigued by them. We have to hold our plates up between bites.
Mmmmm doughnuts! 😀 I just adore the toddler’s expression in the last panel with all the jelly goop gone all over his cute face! haha! I wonder what Burt has to say . . . I’ll bet he knows all about the joys of doughnuts! 🙂 I miss Barvarian cream-filled doughnuts. *sigh* Can’t get them here in England . . . at least I haven’t seen any.
Hehe, LUV luv the ‘Donauts – Explorers from another World’ illustration. 🙂
Ooo… I had thought it was the toddler too, but your comment made me look more closely. I noticed not only the curl/cowlick, but also that the baby’s eyes are drawn different from the toddler as well.
Also her clothes are different from from where we see the toddler in the panel where the woman, the man & the toddler are eating theirs. (I had to check to work out who was going to upset Elvis)
Some of the big Tesco stores carry Krispy Kreme donuts – I haven’t seen Bavarian Cream filled but they do have quite a decent variety and they bring out limited edition specialty doughnuts every month or so. Keep your eyes open and a Bavarian Cream filled may appear!! Some cities have little Krispy Kreme shops (Liverpool One in Liverpool) and oddly enough some Motorway Service stops carry them as well.
Ohh, first comment ? I am over in Italy, where doughnuts appear to be a major food group, along with their evil, chocolate filled cousins, brioche.
Love the Elvis yuck face in panel 3,love the look of puzzlement when Elvis is told to turn around. I guess he is not yet fully versed in the habits of toddlers.
I’m still laughing after reading this. Love Elvis’ tongue sticking out in panel 3. Actually that’s how I feel about donuts. Too sweet for me but, then, so is this strip. Thanks Georgia for making my Monday perfect.
Donuts or Doughnuts — however it’s spelt the result is sugary wonderfulness. (BTW, IMHO Krispy Kreme are just run-of-the-mill donuts. Give something with more “guts”, thankyouverymuch.)
Poor Elvis, he’s about to be blind sided..lol..Will he love the taste of jelly, or hate that it is on his fur and now has to be cleaned off? As Willy Wonka once said, “The suspense is terrible, I hope it lasts!” Love it 🙂
Donuts — the plain unfrosted cake variety — were one of my Bubba cat’s 2 favorite foods (the other was fresh cherries). I never gave him very much, but whenever I had a donut, he was all over me until I gave him a few bites. He did also like more traditional cat fare, although he wouldn’t touch tuna.
The picture of Gwen with the jelly reminds me of my friend’s favorite picture of her oldest at about that age: wearing just a diaper and having been gumming joyfully on a red vine. She is covered in red gore and has the biggest grin ever.
Uh, Burt? I think a simpler, more effective message to Elvis would be, “Run!” I know my first inclination when someone tells me to turn around is “No.” (And we know from the Cucumber Report that Elvis shares that trait).
Also, if you think about it, all of us have probably seen a cat go from sitting calmly to flat out running for no apparent reason. Now we know two possible explanations: Either they saw something in another dimension (as revealed by Scott Adams) or their technical director was warning them about something via their earpiece (as revealed by Georgia).
I LOVE it! We need a bonus panel, preferably animated, of Elvis’s poofy escape to hang off the lamp in frantic escape from Sticky Toddler Hands. I’d wonder how experienced parents could lose track of both a mobile baby AND a jelly doughnut, but I know how sneaky those little people can be.
Our kitties have similar reactions to doughnuts, for the most part. We get dirty looks for having the nerve to eat something we can’t share with them. The exception is cream filled doughnuts, as the filling is inhaled.
Is Beatrix a Hemingway cat? I know there’s been comments about how they thought they saw a cat with too many toes in the snow, and how her paws are why she’s so good at climbing, so I was just wondering.
I had a cat that didn’t eat people food. He was fond of tuna water but wouldn’t eat the tuna. A friend was over once and offered him a powdered sugar cake donut. The cat politely licked the sugar off of it and then my friend popped it in her mouth and ate the rest of it. She said she shared with her kitties all the time. I still think my cat was just being polite to someone he liked.
beatrix is a Hemingway cat awsome
how creative of you but you are well know for genius creatively.
hmmm doughnuts…plain cakelike and the ones with cream filling and chocolate icing are my favorites.
poor confused Elvis look behind you quick or you will become a jelly cat.
Haha!! It is the Baby. 🙂 She was born with black hair and has surprised us all the past 4-5 months as her hair has now lightened enough to match Toddler’s! (I am slowly making it lighter in the comic to catch up).
She’s not the only baby that’s happened to, I was born with black hair that went blonde then gradually to brown and my brother was born with brown hair that went blond and back to brown. Made for some interesting moments when we were showing his wife and in-laws baby pictures of him to show how dang much my niece looked like her daddy as a newborn.
Not to mention how often it happens with kittens. I swear the gray loudmouth in the house used to be a gray tiger!
One of our cats who has now been undertree for a good many years was very fond of crullers. But only crullers; plain glazed (which is darn near the same doughnaut without the tractor tread effect) were Not Acceptable. At least those have none of the goop Elvis is clearly disgusted with…nothing but delicious sugary brisket.
Oh I can’t wait for the book to come out! I am getting it. Love.this.strip.
Beatrix handing (pawing?) the update to Puck. LOL Toddler + jelly donut = Run Elvis, run!
I love this. It is my first time commenting but I have been read these comics for a while now and I just love them. Also Georgia I love your artistic skills
I once had a very smart cat that loved donuts. She would sit on the top of the bakery box until the center caved in and the corner popped up. Then she would reach in and snag a donut and make her escape! Thanks for bringing back that memory. I LOVE your strip Georgia!
Good Woman: you bring so much joy to we “cataholics” and all of your loyal fans spread it around … rather like sweet little Gwen is about to do with the contents of the missing jelly donut! Thank you for brightening so many days!
I love Lupin’s worried pose with front paws clasped together in anguish and ears parallel to the ground.
pleased to see the Baby has kept the Toddler’s cowlick going. can we hope for a shark sighting in the future?
In reading some of the most recent comments, another reader, Cin, made a statement that I think would be a wonderful basis for a BCN story – “Yes, cat power never fades!” Georgia, your stories inspire and make us readers smile, while we nod recalling our own kitty stories. Cin, I have walked in your shoes, much love and respect from Georgia (the state) for being an attentive loving kitty mom. I am sure he is hanging out with my boy Jimmy (short for James Dean, he was cool like that), we will see them again.
I was just thinking yesterday I wish the wonderful Mrs Dunn could print a book so we can hold the boys adventures in our hands and like magic…..SO EXCITED!
Panel 4, Beatrix’s paw visible holding the paper out to Puck?
Yes! With the spelling correction. That Bea is the best.
Well, if Beatrix were really dictator, that “Donauts” poster never would have seen daylight. But, maybe, she already knows about going for laughs.

Tim Hortons! I would kill for a double-double! I keep hoping that Tim Hortons expands to the UK…
Uh-oh… poor Elvis!
Lupin sure looked concerned in the first panel.
“Donauts” is almost as good as “Bee-tricks”. I shall never look at a donut the same way again! I will forever wonder where they herald from…
Jelly in cat fur! Run Elvis, run…
NooO! Not STICKY PETTINGS!
Georgia, I’ve never written a comment here before, but I just wanted to thank you for your wonderful comic strip! Oh, I am so sorry to hear that. 🙁 I’m glad the strip can give you some kitty-smiles right now!
Purrfect!
That’s rough, Cin. I’m sure you gave him a wonderful life. Hang in there.
Maybe get a kitten…
Dear Cin, I’m so sorry for your loss of a great friend. As Amy (above) has also said, I can tell he had an amazing life with you. Remember it all and take care. Cat power never fades:)

Awww, Cin. {{{{{BIGHUGS}}}}}
It’s always sad to lose one of our kittybabies
Condolences on the loss of your furfriend. My own are both pushing 16 and I worry about losing one or both.
Georgia, you’re killing me. I must now seek donuts at 1:30 am. Because I am infamously suggestible when it comes to food.
Love Elvis’s tongue-out disgust face so much! Reminds me of Calvin. He always had so many great faces. 🙂
“Because I am infamously suggestible when it comes to food.”
LOL!
This put a smile on my face, being a chef and a donut master.
Not shown: Beatrix sweeping up Elvis’s Fur, the PUFFINESS heard around the world 🙂
The jelly could solve that fluffiness. Then, Elvis would REALLY dislike the goop.
LOL
😸
It took me a while to find Beatrix’ little paw! And I love the “naut” -“explorers from another world”!
Toddleracula!
Toddenstein
Fluffapawrus Rex
No sorry wrong cat, it was Lupin wasn’t it. Although Bea qualifies for that title now with her mega fluffy paws.
🙂 True, but cats aren’t
Hey English major-these are cats.
From whence cometh these intrepid donauts?
But if you’re going to get picky (not recommended), you should rethink your “from whence,” since “whence” means “from where.”
Next up: The true meaning of “wherefore.”
“Why”
I agree with Doglady,….they are cats and they can herald from wherever they want!
You do make a good point. Technically, the question would be “whence do they hail?”, although I have seen it in literature from several periods preceeded by “from”. It sort of makes one wonder why that many authors would use it that way… apart from simply not knowing any better.
Another great strip, Georgia. Elvis is about to get a very sticky, but tasty surprise.
Elvis is about ready to get ‘jelled’. I just love BCN. Thank you Georgia for sharing your ‘gift’ with us.
I have a nephew who calls them “nonuts”
OK, that’s NOT a fair way to start a Monday morning…one look at the strip required a trip to the local store for a box of donauts to start my day. Not great for the diet, but that sugary brisket…and Elvis is quite correct–they ARE filled with goop. And delicious. But only a glimpse of Beatrix’s tail? We need more!
If you’re seeing what I think you’re seeing, that’s actually Beatrix’s paw, and she’s handing Puck the note that he is looking at in the next panel.
Brilliant, you are so funny. Is there no end to you talents:)
Oops-your please correct
When we bring home donuts, our little mews-caster, Chase, is very interested. Cats can’t even taste sweet, but he is crazy intrigued by them. We have to hold our plates up between bites.
Elvis became covered in jelly from a donut?
Oh man, now I want a donut too! A sweet Bavarian Cream sounds like just the ticket 😀
Looks like the Toddler found the Insect Traveler and proceeded to devour it! And Elvis better get out of there quick before he is covered with goop!
That’s the *baby* with the jelly donut! See the curl/cowlick? Even stickier… And such a betrayal of Elvis by “his girl”!

Watch our Elvis! lol
Gotta love Elvis — “sugary brisket” indeed 🙂
Donauts, explorers from another world !! Lol !! Love it !! 😸
Donuts are always good. The boys will love them just don’t give them the jelly one or you will be cleaning up a big mess.
The toddler and baby are so cute.
DON’T TURN AROUND, ELVIS!!! XD
So according to this, the Man has some ripped pecs. How does he do that on donuts? 😉
Beware sticky fingered toddlers & Siamese cats — not a good combo!
Oh, no! Elvis is going to be attacked by a sticky-fingered, jelly-coated baby!
Love the Elvis “goop” face!!
Where’s Beatrix? I’m not seeing her, and she’s listed…
Never mind, I see her paw! Lol!
Turn around before the jelly monster gets you,Elvis!
Poor Elvis! (I have a hunch this strip may be based on a real event!) =^..^=
Is that a fluffy Intern paw giving Puck a spell-check?
Food of the gods! Good Morning Georgia!
Donauts. Made me laugh.
Love the baby’s cowlick!!
Oh Burt, you are such a brat. (chuckle)
I agree 🙂
Great straight up classic strip! I love how the “speculative” donaut is a just a spacified version of what they know as prey: rodent.
donauts that’s great haha, i love puck.
This episode is just great. I do hope you provide a panel to go after that last one!
I’m still laughing after reading this. Love Elvis’ tongue sticking out in panel 3. Actually that’s how I feel about donuts. Too sweet for me but, then, so is this strip. Thanks Georgia for making my Monday perfect.
Who handed Puck the note in panel 4? Was it their fabulous new intern?
I don’t always look at the list of Characters, but I did today. It took me a couple of looks through the panels to find Beatrix. 🙂
It looks like Elvis might be in need of some grooming help soon. 🙂
I love the toddler got the donut rather than the robber mice. Poor Elvis, I wonder if there will be a followup with a sticky Elvis on Thursday 🙂
Watch out Elvis, you’re going to be sticky!
I love this adorable comic! ^_^
LOOK OUT, ELVIS!
Last panel: OH NOOOOOOOO! And oh, the charts!
I love Beatrix handing copy to Puck in panel 4!
Donuts or Doughnuts — however it’s spelt the result is sugary wonderfulness. (BTW, IMHO Krispy Kreme are just run-of-the-mill donuts. Give something with more “guts”, thankyouverymuch.)
The Baby likes jelly donuts? No nap for her!
Now I want donuts. And to soothe Elvis. Poor kitty!
Poor Elvis, he’s about to be blind sided..lol..Will he love the taste of jelly, or hate that it is on his fur and now has to be cleaned off? As Willy Wonka once said, “The suspense is terrible, I hope it lasts!” Love it 🙂

We’re about to have a jelly cat! Run Elvis!
Cata can’t taste sweet…but that doesn’t stop them from trying. I imagine that just after the last panel, a horrified Elvis gets a sticky toddler hug!
Maxie might not be able to taste sweet, but she seems to go crazy for a lot of sweet things.
Georgia-great stuff as usual. Keep them coming.
The picture of Gwen with the jelly reminds me of my friend’s favorite picture of her oldest at about that age: wearing just a diaper and having been gumming joyfully on a red vine. She is covered in red gore and has the biggest grin ever.
I bet the sale of donuts just doubled all over the BCN world! I will be looking for some as soon as I can mmmmm funny seeing kitties discussing them!
Uh, Burt? I think a simpler, more effective message to Elvis would be, “Run!” I know my first inclination when someone tells me to turn around is “No.” (And we know from the Cucumber Report that Elvis shares that trait).

I think a Donaut would would be fun!
Love Beatrix’s little paw sticking into frame!
Sigh, now I too need a donut ASAP. Luckily for us missing the east coast, a Dunkin’s is now open in LA!
Is Beatrix a Hemingway cat? I know there’s been comments about how they thought they saw a cat with too many toes in the snow, and how her paws are why she’s so good at climbing, so I was just wondering.
She is! Yes!! 😀
Donauts……??
Long John Glenn
Buzzston Creme
Alan Jelly Bean
There must be more. Camera One?
Buzzton Creme!!! I love it!!
Yuri Buttermilk
Sally Ride Cruller
Neil Bearclawstrong
and
wait for it
Alan Shepard Pie (oh, sorry)
I love this donaut name trend!
Chris Hazlefield (Chris Hadfield)
Now I want a donaut. 🙂
I absolutely love this strip!
My kitties LOVE donuts. As long as I am eating one. Break off a piece and leave in cat dish : NO.
I had a cat that didn’t eat people food. He was fond of tuna water but wouldn’t eat the tuna. A friend was over once and offered him a powdered sugar cake donut. The cat politely licked the sugar off of it and then my friend popped it in her mouth and ate the rest of it. She said she shared with her kitties all the time. poor confused Elvis look behind you quick or you will become a jelly cat.
Elvis – jelly cat or “Jellicle cat”? Inquiring minds want to know!
Elvis – a Jelly Cat because Jellico Cats are black and white, and rather small. Alternatively they are white and black, and of moderate size.
Love Elvis’s goop face though – but there doesn’t seem to be a poem about that – probably should be.
Donuts are not like bugs. Donuts are like pancakes. And we all know that cats love pancakes.
Is that the Baby or the Toddler ? they are both tagged and in previous pics I thought the Baby had black hair. You know this is important. 😉
Thank you!! 😀
Catolicism? Feline Catolicism?
Adorable as always! But I think you mean “Where do they hail from?” 🙂
Mmmm. Doughnuts….
I love Lupin’s worried pose with front paws clasped together in anguish and ears parallel to the ground.
pleased to see the Baby has kept the Toddler’s cowlick going. can we hope for a shark sighting in the future?

Book pre-ordered. If it doesn’t win a pawlitzer there’s no justice.
Haha!! I love that! And thank you. 🙂
Don’t turn around Elvis. Run!
DONAUTS! Hah! I love it!
