I’m sorry this strip came so late in the day, everyone! A cold has hit our house with a vengeance (if you follow me on Twitter, you may have already read some of my sniffly grumbling). It seems to finally (oh goodness, I hope) finally be rounding a corner, so hopefully this will be the last late strip for a while. I hope everyone had a great New Year! Here’s a strip for anyone who made a resolution to work out! 🙂
Yup, can’t do any crunches without one or two cats showing up to bat at my hair, be directly underneath me, or generally trying to “help”. Soooo helpful.
This is a very funny and exceedingly well-done strip. Great insight into both the cats and the people.
Particularly if you look beyond the obvious cuteness factor, I think Breaking Cat News is easily as good as “Cow and Boy” (some have compared Cow and Boy to Calvin and Hobbes) and Chris Baldwins “Little Dee”, another excellent strip. (Both available online, of course.)
Very nice work!
Chris is a great guy! He and I did a swap for our books at this last year’s Rose City Comicon, and I also bought some of his remaining stock of the Little Dee collections (because apparently it’s being redone for a bigger publisher, so he has to clearance them out). Little Dee is VERY funny, highly recommend.
This is why I use the treadmill at work instead of the yoga I used to do at home. Although an extra cats weight can help increase push up effectiveness.
Any time I try doing yoga at home the feline reaction tends to be along the lines of “Hey, sitting in the middle of the living room floor stretching into weird positions is *my* job!”
I’m thrilled you posted a strip, and I don’t care that it was “late”. I thought with the holidays you might not have time so I was happy to see 2 strips this week. I’m sorry everyone has been sick and glad you’re starting to feel better.
You are entertaining us for free. Imho, you needn’t apologize if you don’t always post at the usual time.
Happy New Year to you and the reporters! BCN is great! Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
It is a bit! I began the joke in the beginning sort of as a play on “CNN news,” but a reader once pointed out that they had read it as “Cat Network News” and I like that interpretation very much.
This reminds me of doing PT or yoga with cats. It is counterproductive! Hard to tell which is worse– dealing with the interference directly, or hearing the complaints from the other side of a closed door! 🙂
Sorry you were sick, Georgia, and I’m happy anytime you put out a strip, late or not. The pictures of Lupin gently high fiving the Man and that big smile on Lupin’s face in the last panel make me smile.
Georgia, do you think you might post a tutorial someday on how to draw our own intrepid reporter? I would love capture my two fuzzities in cartoon form but have no idea how to get started.
That’s a great idea, Laura! I will talk to the Man a bit (he’s good with a camera) and see if maybe we could film something to post, along with some drawn instructions too!
I found this one on ‘go comics’ today so i looked for it in the local news section of your website but couldn’t find it!
It looks like some strips aren’t categorized?
My human does these things. It seems to be a sort of pouncing method. She was not catching any mice,so i caught one and set it right in front of her so she could practice more effectively.Someday i will teach her the ways of climbing up anything 5 feet high.

What a happy discovery. I thought I had a bad connection with my CN team. Keep up the good work, boys!

So adorable!
Ooooooh, I’m laughing so hard….”gently high five your face…” that is too precious, dear Lupin.

Is Lupin really that sweet? The gentle high-fiving is adorable and the last panel is just purrfect! I love your characters and your artwork so much!
He really is, he’s a really friendly cat. 🙂

Thank you, Reb! Happy New Year to you and yours too!
Wait, doesn’t “CN” stand for Cat News? Is Puck saying Cat News news?
Forecaster, I kinda figure it’s like saying “DC Comics.”

Merlin loves my exercise mat and will stay sitting on it as I roll it up, shoving him back a few inches every time….
Just LOVE this! Thank you from me and my coworkers for a great laugh first thing in the morning!
wishing I had a cat excuse for interfering with my resolution!
This is why I can’t do yoga in my house…my cat Minnie always has to show me the “Minnie Pose” on my mat!
There’s a youtube video I’ve seen with a similar premise of trying to work out with cats around. These comics always brighten my day.
Thumbs up, buddy!
Gaaaw! Lupin’s ace in the final panel!
The Man doesn’t seem appropriately grateful for the help our intrepid reporters are providing him.

Is the man training for the bi-monthly 2am running of the cats?

Lupin is such an encourager!

Yaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy! Wow, there’s got to be a way to incorporate all 5 of my cats!
…feels good to be loved.
I love lupin. And what he says in this comic!
To offer encouragement, I will gently high five your face.
You’re doing a good job!
Do you suppose that my cat, Bartok, is offering me encouragement when he pats my face while I’m sleeping?
I kind of want “To offer encouragement, I will gently high five your face” on mug. Or a shirt.
That’s a good idea!
Yes it is. I want one too.
Your cats are much better at encouraging than mine is. Pippin interprets any and all yoga poses as an open invitation to begin biting me.
I love how cats try to help out like that! Ours like to help make beds.

It looks like some strips aren’t categorized?
Oh dear! I can’t find it either! Thank you for letting me know, I will categorize it shortly. (It will most likely be added to the ‘Sports’ section).
If anyone catches more of these, please let me know! Thank you, again Cris!
