My friend had a cat like that. She would sleep in the back yard and totally ignore the birds. The only time she “caught” one was when one got too close and she accidentally rolled over on it.
My apologies if anyone received multiple email notifications for this strip! Or no notification for this strip 🙁 The “email subscribers” plugin I use is acting very strangely today.
I like the different “camera angles” in this one, from looking in from the other side of the window, to the angle on Puck as he contemplates being a mighty hunter. It changes things up nicely!
We call it “Cat TV” in my family. My cat generally forgets that he can’t jump through the window at the beginning of each winter when we put the feeder up. An annual “thunk” has established itself.
Haha!! Oh no! Well, perhaps it’s a form of celebrated tradition now for your cat! It’s so funny that you call it “Cat TV”, we used to call aquariums that in my family when I was growing up!
Lupin’s face smooshed against the window is adorable. And one of our kitties has a kink in the end of his tail–I will have to suggest to him that he use it to carry pens and such, like Elvis =)
oh wonderful. Puck’s dreams of being a mighty hunter, dashed by that glass, but then, resolved with just a thoughtful sip of coffee. Puffy Elvis!!! Lupin’s paw pads!! YAY.
Thank you!! Panel 8 and 9 were my own favorites in this strip, and yet I hesitated to include them because I didn’t know if they would slow it down. In the end, I just liked them too much to leave them out, and felt a thoughtful pause with Puck might be fun–so I am really happy to read that you like them so much, Steve and Barbara!
those panels were my favourites – the contrast with the other panels showing the cats’ personalities, the very ‘cat’ insight that they all believe they COULD be mighty hunters, were they not too busy keeping cushions warm, and the sheer cuteness that is Pucky… very glad you kept them in!
When my kitties are watching the birds we call it ‘Window shopping’…You can always dream, babies, but you are Never going to own one! Love your comic, it always makes me laugh!
Tommy – the only bird-friendly cat in existence.
When I first thought of the punchline for this one, I thought to myself, “Well… If any cat would be, it would have to be Tommy….”

POOFY ELVIS! Also, the baby is adorable!
Oh, Puck. <3

Love this one don’t know where to start …..Elvis’s tail holding the pen, lounging Pucky, sweet baby boy, puffy Elvis ….. or finish
Tommy why !!!!!
Sorry Pucky but I think we all know you’re too sweet to be a mighty hunter. A mighty watcher? Yes. Hunter? I just don’t see it.
I like that little back reference to Elvis’ weather=birds confusion. ^_^ So clever!
I’m so glad you caught that!! Thank you!
Great catch!
you would be the best little hunter Puck! Oh Tommy you’re so cute!
I read a ton of webcomics, but yours consistently puts a big stupid grin on my face. Love BCN.
Yay! Thank you so much for saying so! 😀

Thank you, Michelle!

Elvis with better things to do is brilliant

This is one of my favourites!
Panel #9 sums up the overall brilliance of this web comic in general, and this strip in particular.
So agree panels 8 and 9 are fab.
Life could be so heroic if it wasn’t for the glass and cosy bedding. I’m right there with him.
Love the way these two panels are executed

I agree, panels 8 and 9 are great. I love the casualness of having a cup of coffee and relaxing, amidst Elivs’ outrage.

I ran out of superlatives ages ago! I can’t decide what I adore most! All of it
last panel: POOF!
Oh how I wish this was animated X3
I love the Puck panels!

I love that! And thank you!
Loooooove Puck in panel 9 – our Maxie used to sit like that on the back of the sofa and watch the fish in my husband’s 3 foot tank
