Monday was the 100th strip, and today marks 1 year since this site and ‘Breaking Cat News’ debuted online!!! Thank you again SO MUCH for reading!! Here’s to many more years, with hope and luck!
Congratulations on the anniversary! I’ve been thinking I need to get “lampshades” for my babies for flea medicine day. They have a tendency to lick it off of themselves and each other.
Happy Anniversary, BCN!!!
Love the “Elvis” in the last panel!
My little Meggie was overgrooming her tail and had to be put in the cone o’shame. Cheer up, Elvis!
Wooohooo! Congrats to you, Georgia! I know we all enjoy the antics of your ‘kids’ as much as you do! They are such awesome boys and I’m so thankful you are willing to use your talent to share them with us! Pucky is my favorite but of course…I do love them all! I have a cranky Elvis…except mine is a cranky girl, Mika. 🙂 Thank you again for all your hard work and your sharing! We love it and you!
Thank you, Georgia, for a year of smiles and laughter. You make me appreciate my three “reporters”–Aja, Banjo, Tango–even more. I look forward to following “Breaking Cat News” for years to come!
Georgia, your comic gives me something extra special to look forward to on Mondays and Thursdays! I especially like Puck’s Elvis Presly hair style in the last panel. Nice double entendre!
Linda
Not sure if this is actually happening to Elvis but I wanted to share that my kitty Mei Mei sometimes over grooms in the winter due to dry skin. I get a special fish oil supplement from my vet that clears it right up! Of course over grooming can be due to lots of things.. Anyhow thanks for always brightening my day with your hilarious and adorable comics! <3
Thank you Azane! I hate to say, it is a real life problem Elvis has 🙁 He can be a very anxious/intense cat (just as in the comic) and has a “stress patch” over one elbow that he grooms bald. In real life we have not resorted to “the cone of shame” yet, but may in the future. Right now we’ve been trying a Thundershirt on him and it seems to help a little–even if it just covers the spot so he can’t get to it. I will ask our vet about the fish oil supplement, we’re willing to try pretty much anything!
I had a cat that licked herself completely bald everywhere her tongue could reach. Turned out she had a flea allergy. 1 flea bite was enough to set her off. That was back when Frontline and other such flea medications first came out. Switching to that stopped her excessive grooming and all her fur grew back.
Once again I’m laughing so hard I’ve startled my own furkids. Oh, poor Elvis! I fear for Lupin’s health once that cone of shame comes off. And Puck is going to have to do some fancy ‘splaining to convince Elvis that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. LOL!! Each panel is a work of art that I savor slowly. Thank you for sharing your talent and joy with us, Georgia. <3
The other thing you can try is a product called Feliway or something like that. I catsit for a cat that overgrooms (thyroid issues stress the poor honey out) and this is a plug in room scenter that gives off calming pheromones so he doesn’t get so bad.
My friend’s cat’s over-grooming was also helped hugely by Feliway, as was my little girl’s anxiety whenever That Cat (a local feral with none of the charm and 300x the smelliness of your Tommy!) happens to hang around our yard.
My friend’s cat was a plump little tortoiseshell (calico), who had a ‘stress stripe’ down her belly – when she over-groomed it looked like she was bursting out of her fur suit, like the zip had failed… so hard not to laugh at the poor little mite…
Awww, poor Elvis and the cone! LOLing at Puck’s Elvis hair!
Congratulations on the year anniversary!
I have a very anxious, well more like neurotic, cat too. A vet had his pharmacy make a anti anxiety med, Chlomapramine, into a lotion form so I didn’t have to try and make an already stressed cat take a pill. (I know, right?) I just rubbed it in his ear (wearing gloves so I didn’t absorb any). Just an idea if you ever get to that point!
Ah, I read it (equally hilariously) as Puck asking whether the FIGHT was ‘over grooming’, then realised he could be asking about his own pompadour (which is adorable)…
Congratulations on the 100th panel. You have made us, and continue to make us, happy and joyful. Wishing you and the man, your son, the daughter-on-the-way, and the boys, all the happiness and joy that life and laughter can hold.
Thank you Jon! I have thought about creating a Patreon page, and I still may in the future. Right now I’ve asked that if folks would like to donate anything for the boys, that they consider giving to the shelter Puck and Lupin came from. Their page can be found here: http://purrfectpals.org/ They do wonderful work saving cats with special needs–they quite literally saved Puck and Lupin’s lives.
SOOO wonderful! Congrats on the anniversaries. I somehow stumbled onto your site (probably from LOOK WHAT THE CAT DRAGGED IN on Facebook) just after you started it, and have LOVED every one of your strips! Also, all of the suggestions for calming anxiety have been good. I also recommend the Feliway, dispensers work better than the spray alone. It helped calm my VERY anxious older cats when we brought home our 3 youngest kitties in October of 2013. I still use it and all 9 stay pretty cool about things. I use a number of them because our place is pretty big and the more complete coverage makes a difference. All the best and best wishes for a easy, carefree delivery of your new baby!
Thank you so much, Melissa! I think that is definitely what we will try next. I’m glad I wrote this strip, I’m delighted for the advice on Elvis’s grooming!
Lupin…. jerk? Wellllll… maybe just a little. But hilarious? Most definitely!
There’ve only been two comics recently that have made me laugh so hard, I literally had to turn the page to stop. And what a coincidence… They both involved a cat tormenting someone!
Love the dramatic pauses, for the want of a better term, you use in the comics – like panels 2 and 3. Always savour these slow action moments 🙂
This is going to be a read, and re read strip – again
Love your comic and look forward to it every Monday and Thursday. I am a retired veterinarian who volunteers at a cat shelter. I see a lot of stressed kitties. Royal Canin makes a food called Calm that is formulated to help cats cope with stressful situations that can lead to many clinical signs including excessive licking or grooming. It might help Elvis.
Glad I didn’t take a sip of my can of Mountain Dew, I would have had to clean my computer screen and keyboard!
This made me laugh so hard! The expressions are priceless!
And congrats on the 100th strip and 1 year anniversary! I always look forward to these strips, it really helps me get through the day. If I am feeling down, I just reread random strips for about a half hour. =3
I love Lupin’s face and how he laughs until he falls down! Georgia, we will miss you but wish you a wonderful “maternity leave” and will look forward to your (and The New Baby’s) return.
I will certainly look into purrfectpals.org, but I was thinking more along the lines of supporting you and your family, especially with a new baby on the way.
I will decline to ask on a public internet page if you have a baby registry, though. Maybe I’ll pick up something from your store.
My meezer, Beau, had to wear The Collar to have his nails trimmed – he insisted we were trying to cut off his toes and reacted thusly. It’s hard to trim claws while wearing heavy winter coats and gloves, wrasslin’ your vocalizing cat, and soothing him all at the same time! Fun times! The Collar made all of our lives a bit easier.
I still miss that boy something fierce – Elvis is much like him.
Congrats!
OMG!! Definitely, this comic that will be considered by me “a Classic!” (Right up there with “The New Scratching Post” (aka the new Lamp), “The thing on the Dining Rm Table” (“is it edible?” Hahaha-not so much), and the bee in the bathroom comic, where Puck tosses everything into the toilet, “as a show of power.” Oh my, not enough room in this box to list them all!!) I’m laugh-crying just remembering them!
And God bless your 1-year anniversary! I love. Love. Love your comics– Classic & classy.
Katzen overgroomed to the point her belly was half naked. We thought it was anxiety from her pesky brother Marco of the frequent pounce. But the vet thought it might be allergy related, and put her on an antihistamine pill and spray for the area. She has stopped bothering it and all the fur is growing back! Something you might want to ask the vet about.
Happy 100th. Have you considered setting up a Patron account for BCN?
Thank you, Laura! That is something we will mention to the vet too, just in case! I have not set up a Patreon, but you are the third person in two days to ask me (and second today!) so it is something that I am thinking about now, thank you!
Oh Georgia. You do brighten my days. The simple pleasures in life are important and this strip never fails to amuse me. Thank you for all your work and here’s to another 100 strips, and many more thereafter.
Ohhhhh… Lupin is gonna be in SO MUCH TROUBLE when Elvis gets out of that Cone. Totally asking for it, too. This strip is overflowing with win. Then again, aren’t they all. Congratulations on a year of overflowing win – only the first of many, I trust.
I don’t have a chance to comment on this incredible strip until I get home from a long day volunteering at the infirmary at a shelter in northern California. It is a wonderful way to end the day particularly now that “kitten season” is upon us. We have two litters in residence and know that the hoard is out there. Despite all the spay/neuter efforts there are always more kittens. To all of you out there, please support your local shelter … they need more help than you can imagine, money is always good but there are hundreds of ways people can help by volunteering. Thank you Georgia for suggesting shelter help.
You’re so welcome, and thank you for all the work you do!! I have a “special report” planned in the future on how awesome shelter cats are, and some tips are included on how to support shelters. It’s something I hope I can post up to the site by/during this summer!
Congratulations on the 100th Breaking Cat News! Thank you for all of the work and creativity that you put into BCN. It never fails to brighten my day(s.) So much of what you do is so like what our pair do too. You made my birthday extra special this year when my Man bought me 3 of the BCN prints, (many hints were given.) They have a special place where everyone can see them. He has been advised to acquire more of them, as will I be doing too. Thanks again for BCN. It is so very special to me.
Thank you, Gregg!! Some folks have asked/suggested guest posts while I’m on my maternity break, but I would still have to post the new strips, approve comments as they come in, and check in a bunch (I know me, I just would). It’s hard for parents to function those first new weeks. I worry that trying to still juggle even just the site maintence would lead to distraction and stress. I truly have to take a real break to give the new baby the attention she’ll need. I’m sorry! I hope folks understand.
Congratulations on your 100th strip! I don’t post usually, but I devour your comic and I adore these boys! Great strip, great fun, really awesome. Great job!! 🙂
My baby Wilford is a very anxious Persian and while he doesn’t over-groom, he does seem to be calmed down by lavendar scented things – incense, candles, etc. Hope this helps!
Read the whole thing…then went back and looked at Lupin’s face in the first panel. Great poker face, Lupin! I could tell you were up to “something,” but couldn’t tell what!
Monday was the 100th strip, and today marks 1 year since this site and ‘Breaking Cat News’ debuted online!!! Thank you again SO MUCH for reading!! Here’s to many more years, with hope and luck!
Congratulations on 100 strips and here’s to billions more!! Lol
This is one of my favorite strips! I love the way Lupin is having so much fun! ! Even after Elvis gets angry Lupin is still cracking up! Lol
Congratulations on the anniversary! I’ve been thinking I need to get “lampshades” for my babies for flea medicine day. They have a tendency to lick it off of themselves and each other.
Cone of shame for the win (At least for us)!
Congratulations on 100+ comics and one year of awesomeness.
to mark it with the best ever “cone of shame” comic is a real winner.
I’m looking forward to many more years of BCN antics.
Thank you, Hieraco! 😀
Happy Anniversary, BCN!!!
Love the “Elvis” in the last panel!
My little Meggie was overgrooming her tail and had to be put in the cone o’shame. Cheer up, Elvis!
Congrats on the milestones and thank you for keeping me laughing from day 1! Its great to see how much this strip has grown!
Thank you, Shellie!! 😀
Elvis hopping after Lupin is too much. Plus, I love his look in panel 5.
Wait, Georgia, you know I love you and BCN without me calling it out in these anniversary strips, right? Because I do. 😡
And that was supposed to be a kissy smiley, not an angry one. Weird.
HAHAHA!!! Thank you, Jenna!! You and Lady Mel are a couple of the original readers! I love you ladies too!
Pucky’s little pompadour!
The Man and I kept calling the last panel “Pompadour Pucky” last night! 😀
Thank you, Georgia, for a year of smiles and laughter. You make me appreciate my three “reporters”–Aja, Banjo, Tango–even more. I look forward to following “Breaking Cat News” for years to come!
Thank you, Bill!!!
This is just what I needed today! Oh, Lupin, such a comedian.
Georgia, your comic gives me something extra special to look forward to on Mondays and Thursdays! I especially like Puck’s Elvis Presly hair style in the last panel. Nice double entendre!
Linda

Thank you, Donna!! 😀
Oh my goodness — this is hysterical! Lupin talking to the lamp is great! Thank you so much for sharing your cats and your talent.
Thank you, JoAnn!
The other thing you can try is a product called Feliway or something like that. I catsit for a cat that overgrooms (thyroid issues stress the poor honey out) and this is a plug in room scenter that gives off calming pheromones so he doesn’t get so bad.

Is this over grooming? nearly choked laughing.
BNC really puts the comedic into comics – genius
And Elvis panel six poor poor kitty 🙂
Me too, hilarious!!! (and congrats on 100 strips and still going strong)
Pucky, last panel. That is all
You go, Elvis. My ex used to tell me to “lighten up” day and night.
(I know, right?) Thank you, Dawn! I think something like that would be so good for him.
I see a mug out of frames 2,3 and 7!!!
Love Puck as Elvis!
And no, Puck, that’s not over grooming… That’s over acting!
Ha ha but what an act!
Ah, I read it (equally hilariously) as Puck asking whether the FIGHT was ‘over grooming’, then realised he could be asking about his own pompadour (which is adorable)…
Also, I think Panel 3 needs to be a coffee mug or canvas bag!
You put Elvis in a Thundershirt?!? PLEEEEEEEAAAASSSE post a photo!
I will! He seems to (almost) like it! 😀
Awww!! This comic is a classic! One of the best
“Bright” ideas you came up with to draw!!!
I nominate panel 3 for a coffee mug!
I laughed so hard at this I scared one of my cats.
I love that Puck’s hairdo looks like people-Elvis!
Congratulations on the 100th panel. You have made us, and continue to make us, happy and joyful. Wishing you and the man, your son, the daughter-on-the-way, and the boys, all the happiness and joy that life and laughter can hold.
Thank you, Lindy!!
Panels 2 and 3. Perfect! 🙂
With Elvis wearing it, we can be sure that’s not a “cone of silence”. Congrats on the anniverary, the first of what I hope is many more to come!
Georgia, do you have a Patreon page or Amazon wish-list?
Thank you Jon! I have thought about creating a Patreon page, and I still may in the future. Right now I’ve asked that if folks would like to donate anything for the boys, that they consider giving to the shelter Puck and Lupin came from. Lupin, you jerk. 😀
And the Pucky Pomp 😀
Lupin…. jerk? Wellllll… maybe just a little. But hilarious? Most definitely!
There’ve only been two comics recently that have made me laugh so hard, I literally had to turn the page to stop. And what a coincidence… They both involved a cat tormenting someone!
LOLing all the way through, but Pucky’s Elvis wig brought tears of laughter! Also Lupin laughing his butt off as Elvis continues his attack!
Love the dramatic pauses, for the want of a better term, you use in the comics – like panels 2 and 3. Always savour these slow action moments 🙂
This is going to be a read, and re read strip – again
Thank you, Barbara!

I love Lupin’s face and how he laughs until he falls down! Georgia, we will miss you but wish you a wonderful “maternity leave” and will look forward to your (and The New Baby’s) return.
Congratulations on your century. Here’s to the next hundred
Congrats on a full year of publication.
This site is now part of my morning web crawl.
I will certainly look into purrfectpals.org, but I was thinking more along the lines of supporting you and your family, especially with a new baby on the way.
I will decline to ask on a public internet page if you have a baby registry, though. Maybe I’ll pick up something from your store.
Thank you so much, Jon 🙂 Picking up something from the store would certainly be wonderful!
So funny! Lupin sure is a ham, isn’t he? 🙂
Congratulations on one year of comics! I look forward to many more! 😀

Congrats!
I’m glad Elvis can provide some happy reminders! “Meezers” are definitely a proud breed all their own. 🙂
OMG!! And God bless your 1-year anniversary! I love. Love. Love your comics– Classic & classy.
Thank you, Jenny!!!
Best.
Strip.
Ever!!!!
At least tabitha hasn’t seen him like this. He has some dignity left…
Katzen overgroomed to the point her belly was half naked. We thought it was anxiety from her pesky brother Marco of the frequent pounce. http://patreon.com that is
It took me awhile to stop laughing! Panel 4 and panel 8 and 9 and 2 and ……. Soooooo funny! I love your strip! Happy 100th and many, many more.
Oh Georgia. You do brighten my days. The simple pleasures in life are important and this strip never fails to amuse me. Thank you for all your work and here’s to another 100 strips, and many more thereafter.

lol You could have just stopped at the 4th panel. But I love Lupin, going “get it?”
I love the Pixar Luxo reference in panels 2&3.
Congratulations on the 100th Breaking Cat News! Thank you for all of the work and creativity that you put into BCN. It never fails to brighten my day(s.) So much of what you do is so like what our pair do too. You made my birthday extra special this year when my Man bought me 3 of the BCN prints, (many hints were given.) Thank you so much, Eva!! 😀
Happy anniversary!!
Jokies mor realzies? XD
I love these! Are you going to bring these out in strip/book/bundle/whateverpeoplecallit format too one day?
I would love to someday, if the opportunity presents itself! 🙂
How bout reader supplied art or story text while on baby hiatus?
Your art reminds me of Beatrix Potter & where they found Renee Zellweger to play her part.
Who will play you when BCN hits the big screen?
Thank you, Gregg!! Some folks have asked/suggested guest posts while I’m on my maternity break, but I would still have to post the new strips, approve comments as they come in, and check in a bunch (I know me, I just would). Oh look! Elvis is cosplaying as the Pixar mascot! (Cone of shame indeed…)
Puck makes me giggle in that last panel.
Congratulations on your 100th strip! I don’t post usually, but I devour your comic and I adore these boys! Great strip, great fun, really awesome. Great job!! 🙂
Thank you!! 😀
I love this website so freaking much. You get cats too well.
I ♡ Lupin so much!
I’m a few days late, but Happy Cativersary!
Here’s to one year, and hopefully, many more!
Pixar Elvis!
I am so happy you decided to do this comic! Congratulations on your one year anniversary may your comic continue for many funny years!
❤️,
M.G.
Thank you!!!! You’ve been there since the start, it means so much! 😀
My baby Wilford is a very anxious Persian and while he doesn’t over-groom, he does seem to be calmed down by lavendar scented things – incense, candles, etc. Hope this helps!
Thank you! It’s worth a try! 🙂
Aaaawwwwwwwwwww
Laughing SO hard!!! Ok,ok look at elvis’s tail in the last panel…
As usual, the last panel just does me in. Is Puck acting badly or badly acting?
Read the whole thing…then went back and looked at Lupin’s face in the first panel. Great poker face, Lupin! I could tell you were up to “something,” but couldn’t tell what!
