Oh Georgia, everything about this is gorgeous, especially remembering the photos you’ve shared of Elvis with the baby 😀 I had a not-nice-day today and came here on the off-chance that you’d posted and now I’m smiling. Thanks so vey much 🙂
They did! Elvis took up her guard duties early. We’re not certain if he took a shine to her in particular, or knew the drill this time, but he watches her very closely and takes good care of Gwen.
……..speechless……..panel 2 eeeeeep……..panel 5 so news anchory (from tv and film examples as ours have a different approach)…chicken fried rice…..Elvis……too much awesomeness!
love Elvis’ expression at the new baby and how sweet and protective he is! And Puck’s description of “Sugar, spice and chicken fried rice” cracked me up! i wonder if Elvis senses some of his mommy in Gwen and thinks its another girl to adore him?
You sure have captured the curiosity of pets when someone new comes into their world. My goofball is jealous when James comes and plops between us every chance he gets, yet he licked James, and he never licks anyone ! Ooooh dog germs !
How delightful to awake and find chicken fried rice new baby on my I pad! And Elvis! From how many of these things are they going to have to Very protective in last two panels. The baby is just adorable in real life and in the toon!
Dear Ms. Dunn,
Thanks for gladdening the heart of a 65-year-old retired guy. Your “first day of summer” post got me smiling. Please give my regards to your husband, who I understand had something to do with the baby, and the kitties 🙂
Awww, I’d barely finished snickering over the chicken fried rice but from Puck, when cranky Elvis fell for the new baby. Such a fierce protector – “I’m going to need to see some ID”, too funny!! 😉
Oh Georgia! Just love how you get the kids oh so right! Love this and o very happy you and the kids are back to brighten the beginning of our week! Thank you!
Witty, beautifully painted, laugh out loud funny, and adorable. So much brilliance & creativity on a Monday ! I vow to start all my foreseeable Mondays with, BCN. “Back to you, Puck !”
Another perfect strip, Georgia! Just the thought of maybe seeing a new cartoon from you makes me smile; actually seeing one makes me laugh out loud, always!
Congratulations on baby Gwen and wonderful see you “Breaking cat news” again. Its great to see Elvis taking his role very seriously as “Guard CAT” after all Cats can even win “Hero Dog” awards now.
Elvis is wonderful. Ears down at first, then accepting & protective. Doing a comic strip with young children around is quite a challenge, but provides good story material. I know, been there 53 years ago doing free lance work. My young son watched me, then when I left the drawing table he “finished” my work.
i didn’t think anything could be more adorable than Lupin’s blush in the last strip… and then along comes Elvis falling in love with Gwen <3 (love her little shark fin hair sticking up like her brothers btw, lol).
Chicken fried rice, LOL. Wonder what the team think boys are made of?
Beautiful and amazing work as always 🙂
It looks like The Man better be careful when he’s anywhere near The New Baby if he doesn’t want to face the wrath of Elvis. @Dawn: I also wondered if the 3 claws of Elvis was an indication that a 3rd baby is eventually planned.
Georgia, as always, a job well done! 🙂
Love Panel 2…. Hold on a second…
“Sugar and spice and CHICKEN FRIED RICE?”
Being a Chinese chef, I hereby give it my paws of approval!
I busted out crying and laughing..
(I assumed you were eating while drawing)
Elvis has a new friend! 🙂
Congrats on the new baby from your cat fans in Florida!
Not at all, strangely! With our son he was simply BETRAYED. He sulked for several weeks. As time went on, he seemed to come around to him and began to “guard” him (and still does sometimes). With our daughter, whether he knows the drill now or simply prefers females (he is much more comfortable around women and girls, my Mom noticed this even when he was young) his guard duties began immediately. He comes up to be near her during mealtime, nap time. He seems fond of her. 🙂
Oh, there is so much I love about this – just seeing Puck with a pointer I knew there would be a chart our future. And the last panel with Elvis reminds me of him guarding the Woman when she was sick – “DO YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT!!!”
Sweet girl, you are amazing! I truly believe you have touched an incredible cord. Keep your dear family close and let the cats tell your wonderful story. This sorry old world needs more of what you have to give. We all need to lift you up and support your dreams! I applaud your commitment to supporting shelter animals (particularly cats). The needs are so great in hundreds (or probably thousands) of shelters throughout the country. Our little shelter has taken in more than 200 kittens so far this year and the year is only half over! Remember everyone that June is Adopt a Shelter Cat or Kitten Month. Hugs, or head boinks!
This is the best and greatest comic I have ever followed. My boyfriend & I look forward to you 2 times per week. Missed you while you were away. Love what you are doing…keep up the fantastic work!
Wow. You keep raising the bar, Georgia. This strip is absolutely perfect! The artwork, the progression of the panels, the way you capture Elvis and his complete change of attitude about the baby – so squee! And the chicken fried rice bit with Pucky muttering “that can’t be right…” – laughed so hard nearly choked on my cereal – note to self “Don’t eat or drink anything while reading this strip!”
Perfect from start to finish! Elvis really shone here throughout. Glad he’s like that with Gwen in real life. Please let us know when you put up photos of the real kitties and kiddies together!
SO SWEET! I can totally picture this. We have an “odd kid” Siamese named Moakie who thinks he’s my boyfriend. He comes downstairs at night between 9-10pm and cries for me to come upstairs and go to bed so he can curl up on me. 🙂

You’re welcome Susan! I hope this changes the flow of the day and it’s better from here on! 🙂
oh gosh, i was laughing at the chicken fried rice, but then elvis, oh ELVIS, so smitten and protective! <3 <3 <3
Hehe, I hope Elvis and the others took to her in real life as well as they did in the comic 🙂
They did! Elvis took up her guard duties early. We’re not certain if he took a shine to her in particular, or knew the drill this time, but he watches her very closely and takes good care of Gwen.
I love that second panel! And its a good question too…
Sugar, spice & chicken fried rice sounds *awfully* good!
Love that Elvis has met his human!
Sugar, spice and chicken fried rice! Ha! My LOL moment of the day. Love it.
This is great 🙂 Good job!
SQUEE!

I love Elvis demanding ID and the look of wide eyed love when he looks at the new baby. Congrats on the new baby! Little girls are so awesome 🙂

Elvis, such a good boy 🙂
Elvis’s 3-panel transistion from skeptic to Lord Protector is perfect and seems to capture him so well. Thank you!

That looks so much like her!

HAHAHA 1 of the best
Absolutely wonderful! The boys love the new baby. 🙂
Love it! *crying* at ‘chicken fried rice’.
So…. Elvis is holding up *3* claws in the ‘how many babies’ panel!
I noticed that too. ..
It’s a delicious combination.

Wonderful Wonderful Wonderful. I’m going to use the “chicken fried rice” line with my grandnieces. Thanks for bringing us some much needed laughter.
She’s so beautiful, and Elvis fell instantly in love! Adorable. I hope the real cats were that besotted with Gwen.
Once again, just the laugh I needed to start the day.
Congratulations to your sweet family! And thank you once again for making me smile with your creativity. PS Good Job Elvis!

I think the fried rice pic needs to be added to the
“BCN greatest quotes” book….
Perfectly done Georgia! Elvis needs a suit of armor and be knighted, something like Sir Elvis the Protector. loved the chicken fried rice.
Is Elvis subtly revealing the planned number of babies in panel two? Hmmmm?
That is a stunningly, meltingly beautiful painting of the baby. No wonder Elvis dissolved into a puddle of mush!
Loving Elvis’ “Defender of the Baby” reaction. Was he like that with your first kid?

So darn cute!!!!

I have missed everyone so much glad you are back and right on target as usual
Love, love, love Elvis!!!
Oh how absolutely wonderful! BCN is the best part of every Monday, and this one is a wonderful bright spot in an otherwise ouchy day. <3

I think this is my first comment, as I only recently discovered your web series. Wonderful! Absolutely wonderful!
Congratulations on the way you have enhanced the world by bringing your daughter into it! Also for kitties!
Nice cartoon, Georgia ! I hope Elvis is “adjusting” well to your daughter.
It seems you have discovered Elvis’s weakness
Starts out cute, and all, but that last panel had me giving out a belly laugh…”let’s see some ID”
too funny.
Congrats on the new baby!!
Love the delicious combination and their confusion! And Elvis moaning how many of these things are they going to have!
Perfect from start to finish! Elvis really shone here throughout. Glad he’s like that with Gwen in real life. Please let us know when you put up photos of the real kitties and kiddies together!
The Royal Cat of Siam was a guard cat – nice to see Elvis expanding his duties to guard not only the Queen but also her Princess 🙂
Also: “chicken fried rice” – you’re killin’ me! XD
Just saw this http://aggro-gator.com/images/aggro-gatordotcom25663.jpg
and thought of Elvis!
Awwwww!!!

Really glad that I came upon this website. the posts are adorable and OH can I relate to some !! congrats on the new baby girl and… keep posting !
From a new fan,
Kethy
Aw! Elvis is like how my dog acted when she first saw me! R.I.P Claire bear.
