“I heard something crinkle.” My Beatrix looks at me accusingly every time I get a handful of pistachios out of a bag I bought this week. She’s sure I’m eating cat treats, even though I’ve offered her a nut to prove they aren’t.
I offer my kittelach a bean every time I open a can of beans; they haven’t learned yet that when I open a can at the counter, it’s Mama food, and when I open a can at their food station, it’s for them. I suppose the occasional tuna water is what confuses them.
Love Elvis, where’s the cat food and Puck knowing he needs a human can opener. The boys will love their feast on Thursday. But I don’t see any ham or turkey. Oh my.
Beautiful li’l characters !! Evis’s doubtful, despondent face (panel 7)…and precious Pucky, “The sea has been generous!”…with the net bag… I’ll be Giving Thanks for the smiles and tears you’ve spread among us all this year. Wonderful Holidays to you and all.
What I want to know is how you knew that today was tuna sandwich day at my home! Ya know, it takes TWO cans of tuna to make one sandwich. Yes, one is for the sandwich, the other is for the ravenous gang of feisty felines–the gang of 8…two get bowls of the drained water from both cans, two get a little tuna left in the bottom of both cans (the foragers), and the rest share the contents of one can split in their bowls.
Wonderful! We call that hunting and gathering at my house-everyone thinks I am a superior hunter, no fur, no claws, few bones or scales, just the good stuff, neatly packaged in plastic or styrofoam.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all, and to the greater Breaking Cats community!
Oh, the feline assistance in putting away groceries. SO helpful, I don’t know how I’d be able to do it without them! (Really, they’ve been around my whole life.)
As usual, the reporters are uncovering every fact about the upcoming feast! (Love Pucky making his proposal of devotion to The Woman.) Hope your family, furry and otherwise, have a happy and filling Thanksgiving.
A happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! I see you have excellent hunting and gathering skills, despite Elvis’ disparagement of your kibble gathering efficiency. =)
Twice a week you surprise and entertain me, make me smile and laugh out loud and also tear up – in a good way. Thank you for this amazing strip, and have a wonderful Thanksgiving day.
LOL! Where’s the cat food??? Indeed! Pucky looks happy with all of his discoveries of the harvest. 😀 I love his asking if the Woman would be his can-opener–too funny and sweet! 🙂
I didn’t clock that it’s Thanksgiving until I read the comments! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours Georgia, hope little Gwen is ok eating her special mush!
Thanks for noting that, Anne – I’m all up and pre-ordered, even on Amazon.ca, the Canadian outlet! Release date is 3 days after my husband’s b-day, so I guess I’ll just have to keep it for myself, it’ll be too late to be a present {g}….
Have a Blessed and Wonderful Thanksgiving feast everyone! Thankful to have two furry babies. Georgia we so appreciate you and your family! Love the boys . . . . Where are the Robber Rats . . . . . ?? I know they will be stealing a kibble or two! LOL!
I will! (I am actually working on Christmas card designs right now, and possibly some new mug/Christmas sweatshirt designs too!) I am going to try my very best to have everything up in the shop by Friday!
I’m a Canadian and our Thanksgiving has been and gone – but Georgia, I will be thinking of you and yours on Thursday and I’ll be thankful for the joy that BCN brings to my life twice per week (with the occasional in-between post and Friday night hang out!). Happy Thanksgiving from Pebbles and her kitty brothers, and her humans!
It is finally cold enough that we have fired up the wood pellet stove. But each year, at the beginning of the stove season, the cats are SCANDALIZED because the plinky-plink of the pellets falling into the crucible sound _exactly_ like kibble being poured into a bowl. And we humans set it ON FIRE…. horribly wasteful, even if the room does get toasty warm….
Georgia, May you, your family and the BCN staff have a very Happy Thanksgiving! I am very thankful that you share your talent, sense of humor your family and especially Elvis, Puck & Lupin, and their friends. AND after I saw Anne’s post I went on Amazon and ordered my book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited!!!!
Sounds like it will be a wonderful time at your Thursday Table Georgia. What an incredible year plus it has been for your endeavors. I do not really know you, but am so proud of you in you success. It is obvious that you have worked very hard. I hope you inspire many other young dreamers to follow your lead in their chosen field! In the name of Cat may all the best come your way in this magical Holiday season. Hugs
Awwww, yes she is! I knew I was pushing it a bit by making her 26, but I did not realize it would make her the oldest cat living, ha! Here’s to Corduroy! I hope he lives to see many more years!
Off-topic re this strip, but I had to say I just read the Shelter Cat Special and I’m still quite teary-eyed! Beautifully done, Georgia; I wish it could be printed up and put through the mailbox of every human on the planet! (I’ve had a few shelter cats, but most of mine have come from litters of cats living with friends of friends or people who brought in pregnant stray cats, cared for them and then spayed the mothers after birth/weaning.)
Have a delightful and blessed Thanksgiving! Thank you for blessing us with your talent and love for cats. There is always something to warm your heart, something to make you smile and something to laugh out loud about (i.e. Puck saying “excuse me ” to the pineapple!) So, thanks for bringing us so much joy each week! Laughter really is the best medicine!
Thanks again! As usual, a really lovely piece of the best news of the day. My daughter in law got her birthday wish yesterday! A beautiful almost all black cat, her husband (our lovely son) surprised her with a rescue cat from the pound, they have been without a cat for a couple of years since their 2 died at 20 & 21 years old! The birthday party was lovely, lots of happy tears x Have a great thanksgiving everyone x
Foraging for cheese doodles. Love it!
Definitely Kitty Thanksgiving. I *love* Puck’s face in the final frame!
“I heard something crinkle.” My Beatrix looks at me accusingly every time I get a handful of pistachios out of a bag I bought this week. She’s sure I’m eating cat treats, even though I’ve offered her a nut to prove they aren’t.
You proved THAT one wasn’t. Maybe the next one is.
Coffee. All over the monitor. Hah!
I offer my kittelach a bean every time I open a can of beans; they haven’t learned yet that when I open a can at the counter, it’s Mama food, and when I open a can at their food station, it’s for them. I suppose the occasional tuna water is what confuses them.
Hilarious! You could pour them into a bowl though 🙂
I HEARD SOMETHING CRINKLE!!!!!!
The “kibble orchard” … *chortle*
Love Elvis, where’s the cat food and Puck knowing he needs a human can opener. The boys will love their feast on Thursday. But I don’t see any ham or turkey. Oh my.
Happy Thanksgiving to you, Georgia, and to the Man, the Toddler, and the Baby, and also, of course, to your wonderful cats! =^..^=
Thank you, Fritz!! Happy Thanksgiving to you, Jake, and Elwood too! I hope you have a great one!
OMG, Jake and Elwood are great names for kitties!
The sea has been generous, here, too darling PUCK.
Any chance we’ll see these comics collected in a printed book at some point? I love rereading them. 🙂
Hello Brittany! Yes! This May there will be a book of the earlier strips! I should have some more information on that soon! 😀
Wonderful news! Thank you for replying!
You’re welcome!!
Great news!! I think I need a poster of your adoption strip though… can’t get it out of my head.
“I’m a good boy.”
“I miss Joe.”
*sniff*
Agreed! I’ve read that strip so many times, and I still can’t get to the end without tearing up.
Wich one is that?
Up at the very top of this page, under “Special report: Shelter cats.”

Is the Kibble Orchard near where the Spaghetti Trees produce their wonderful bounty? if you know the reference
Happiest of all Thanksgivings to one and all. And a special Thank You to the CN team!
Is the Spaghetti Tree a reference to BBC’s April Fool prank, one of the best ever done? That’s the only one I know of.
Luckily the Kibble Orchard produces all year round, whilst the Spaghetti trees harvest in spring, generally around 1st April… 🙂
Caught the reference, and believe they are somewhere near – or at least they used to be – some time ago 🙂
One of my brothers-in-law pretended to plant spaghetti in his garden.
I have a carousel in a corner cupboard and my Siegfried almost always has a ride around it when I’m putting things away.
As usual, the reporters are uncovering every fact about the upcoming feast! (Love Pucky making his proposal of devotion to The Woman.) Hope your family, furry and otherwise, have a happy and filling Thanksgiving.
Puck’s must be a nautical ancestory. Perhaps one even was a ship’s cat on a pirate ship, complete with peg leg.
Cute! i really think you’re right, remember how much he enjoyed steering that smug little boat?
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family and the boys!!!!
I love the cats’ sense of time, how they figure this is a weekly thing. 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Georgia!
well, most people *do* buy groceries every week.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, and all your American fans and families. Wishing you all tummies full of yummies and hearts full of gratitude.
Happy Thansgiving to the man, the woman, Puck, Lupin, and Elvis.
A happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! I see you have excellent hunting and gathering skills, despite Elvis’ disparagement of your kibble gathering efficiency. =)
Yep, my were very intrigued by the turkey coming out of the deep freeze today..Great strip, as always😊
My three, I meant to say..lol
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, everywhere reading this. 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving too all here and The Man, The Baby, The Toddler and The Boys!! And Georgia, Happy Thanksgiving to you!!
The weekly harvest is always such a festive time for cats. So many new smells and empty bags to explore. Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!
Twice a week you surprise and entertain me, make me smile and laugh out loud and also tear up – in a good way. Thank you for this amazing strip, and have a wonderful Thanksgiving day.
You’re so welcome Jan! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours too!
PS – I love Puck saying “Excuse me.” to the pineapple! What a sweetheart.
I understand the impulse. I once found myself rearranging things in my grocery cart to make a chicken “comfortable”!
And to all of BCN’s fans and Georgia’s clan, a blessed Thanksgiving filled with plenty of bounty and Kibble.
Happy Thanksgiving! I’m thankful for BCN!
The book can be pre-ordered on Amazon! Yay!
Thanks for the heads up Anne!!! And my birthday is the next day, what a great present to give myself 😉
Thanks for noting that, Anne – I’m all up and pre-ordered, even on Amazon.ca, the Canadian outlet! Release date is 3 days after my husband’s b-day, so I guess I’ll just have to keep it for myself, it’ll be too late to be a present {g}….
awww Puck’s face discovering the sea has been generous! <3 <3 <3
Happy Thanksgiving to all BCN cats and their human staff. Thank you, Georgia for letting us be a part of it.
Aw…love this as always! Hope you and your family (and all the readers!) have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
No cucumbers? That’s a thing now, you know.
In light of today’s strip (Monday, 11/30/15), I just want to point out that I called the cucumber thing first!
Have a Blessed and Wonderful Thanksgiving feast everyone! Thankful to have two furry babies. Georgia we so appreciate you and your family! Love the boys . . . . Where are the Robber Rats . . . . . ?? I know they will be stealing a kibble or two! LOL!
Georgia, I’m planning to get my bestie something from your store for Christmas. Will you be adding anything before then?
I will! (I am actually working on Christmas card designs right now, and possibly some new mug/Christmas sweatshirt designs too!) I am going to try my very best to have everything up in the shop by Friday!
Yay! I will be watching for it avidly. Thank you!
Am I the only one who thinks this should’ve been before “Breakfast is MISSING!”? *g*
Great strip as always! Particularly love the gathering cheese doodles, kibble orchard, and “Will you do me the honor of being my can opener?”
And my Chirper would totally think that bag of chips is a bag of treats. She loves stealing ’em off my plate when she thinks I’m not looking…
I absolutely love Puck’s polite greeting to the pineapple. And as you are in RI, I presume those gifts from the sea were quahogs?
Georgia, BCN brings me and mine such joy each week; you are one of the things for which I am perpetually thankful!
My first thought was shellfish, too, because of the mesh bag, but a closer look and the panel about the can-opener confirms it’s tuna.
A very Happy Turkey Day to everyone from my cats, Buzz, Spot, Julius and Mrs. Wolowitz and their “staff”.
It is finally cold enough that we have fired up the wood pellet stove. But each year, at the beginning of the stove season, the cats are SCANDALIZED because the plinky-plink of the pellets falling into the crucible sound _exactly_ like kibble being poured into a bowl. Lemme guess. Pucky found the tuna? Our grocery store is kind; they put pet food on sale along with people food this time of year.
My cat also likes ham.In fact,he will eat it out of your hand just to get it.🐱🐈😃😻

Thank you so much Taffy!! <3 I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving! 🙂
