Rest assured–I’m feeling well! I have just wanted to do a strip about how protective cats can be when folks feel under the weather for some time 🙂 Don’t they always seem to know?
My previous cat did… the current holder of the role of Furry Chief Of Household is somewhat less solicitous – I get a half hour of purring spooning then three hours of ‘oi! food!’
We’re huge fans of ‘Midsomer Murders,’ and ‘Agatha Christie’s Poirot’ (anything Agatha Christie, really)! And we’re warming up to ‘Sherlock.’ (I like that one a bit more than The Man does).
I continue to be delighted with Elvis’s pissed-offedness. I share with Elvis the Buddhist personality type known as “angry” and so many time Elvis expresses my feelings exactly even if in response to a different stimulus. DO YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT?
Oh how I adored this strip! My three cats are definitely one of the main reasons I made it through all my cancer surgeries and rounds of chemo. Dante, the eldest (who has since passed from cancer himself), would curl around my bald head on the pillow to help keep me warm. Udo, the largest (and biggest Mama’s boy), would sleep facing me with one paw on my cheek and the other against my forehead and purr gently at me all night long. And Dom, the only longhaired one of the bunch (and only girl), would sleep tucked against my belly and ever so gently knead me with her paws. It might have made trying to get out of bed a bit complicated, but whenever I was feeling my lowest, their little furry attempts to be my nursemaids made me dig in and hang on tighter because I just couldn’t let them down. Some people (those who’ve never had a pet, likely) may question whether cats truly love us, but I have absolutely no doubts.
P.S. I love all three boys, but Elvis really cracks me up in this one – “DO YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT?” Bwahahahaha!
Aw! My kitty will come check on me if I yell or cry, but has never seemed interested in taking care of me when I’m sick. And she would not tolerate being spooned under any circumstances — no arms or hands may restrict her range of motion or ability to bolt at any time. She will sit on me and purr until I try to touch her, at which point she determines that I’m not actually dead or dying and loses interest. Want to trade? 😉
Ha! She sounds a bit like Lupin when it comes to spooning! He cannot be held for long–except when he lays on his back in The Man’s lap for belly and chin rubs.
These comics are so awesome. I don’t think I’ve read a webcomic this good since A Lesson is Learned but the Damage is Irreversible or Pictures for Sad Children.
My household has fallen in love with BCN! My son likes to read a few comics in place of a bedtime story, and we talk to one another as the rover cat reporters all the time.
“CN Cat News, mommy, can I have a popsicle?”
Haha! That is awesome! We have a little boy ourselves, (who may be joining the comic soon… I saved his entrance, because the boys did a lot of funny things when I was pregnant and he was a newborn!) and I really like your idea of a few comics before bed!
Cats are ridiculous and hilarious with babies. My “mommy” cat, Face, thought the baby was another kitten for him to clean. He gave me that ‘Are you serious?’ face when he first saw the baby.
This is EXACTLY how my cats are when I’m sick. Boyd loves being the little spoon (he’s my black fat kitty), my Jonwalker sleeps near my feet and my only girl, Spencer, sleeps curled around my head for easy fever checking. They won’t leave my side if I’m sick, and even if I’m just having a rough bout of depression or if I’m sad, they’re right there.
Ninja did this yesterday! I came home chilled and exhausted from a hospital trip, so settled into bed with the heated blanket and a cat. I asked my support worker to reach under the covers to pull my trousers down to my feet, they’d ridden up and my calves were chilly, and Ninj reared up and hissed at her. As my partner put it, “YOU’RE NOT TAKING MY HUMAN AWAY.” She’s always protective when my health is worse, and will often herd me back to bed and sit on me to keep me there.

And I pressed submit before saying how much I love Lupin’s expressions and “I’m no British detective, but…” – so cute!
AW!!!!!! So cute!
I love this. My cats Sigrun and Castiel are like this when my husband or I is sick. I love cat ministrations.
This is one of my favs “You’re the biggest spoon” squeeeeee <3
Toesies must be kept roasty!
awwwwwww….its true…they always know, and hasten to apply warm compresses of quiet kitty.
What British detective shows do you watch?

It’s not British, but I highly recommend adding the Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries from Australia to the roster.
oooooh, ooooooh, and “Murdoch Mysteries”, (Canadian – Victorian Era)
Murdoch Mysteries rock! I don’t mind a bit of Miss Fisher too. Poirot is great. Love Shuchet’s take on the character.
‘I prefer throwing up behind the fridge’…….one of ours has recently thrown up on/in the printer, resulting in the need to purchase a new printer.
Just need to find out which one so I can stop its pocket money

Your cats sound amazing! I definitely think cats can sense these things…. So glad you are better!!

My cats are excellent at applying purr therapy when I’m not feeling well, be it physically or emotionally.
Oh Pucky, you’re the sweetest little dude!

Thank you! 😀
Love it- SO true, they know!!
Ps, glad you’re not ill 🙂
And… Love Elvis, lol… SO sassy! 😉
