Hello, everyone! Thank you for your patience, I’m sorry this strip was late! The Baby had a cold on top of teething, and I was unable to work on the comic at all Wednesday night. Wednesday is typically “paint night.” I even had this one drawn out and inked last week, but alas… The paint is so important. I appreciate how kind and supportive everyone has been on FB and Twitter, and I’m happy to report that the Baby is feeling better! Though she *is* still teething, and it was quite an early morning. Sir, I will have your finest barrel of coffee…. 😉
You have nothing to forgive. We are all very grateful for your marvelous strips. And, yes, the paint is important. Water color? Beautiful. Always. Hope Baby is better!
I really like this comic, but one thing bugs me; when the little man gets a new life the display lists 2 (hearts)/ 5 (hearts) and I’m not sure what you meant by that. Is his life at 2 out of 5? In my mind a character has a full health at a new life, so I don’t immediately go with this idea. If he started with something like 2 (life) and 5 (magic) it would make perfect sense, but that would mean two different icons.
I’m sorry for nitpicking, I truly enjoy your comic.
Mine do that too. We got my brother’s old huge flatscreen TV last year when he got a new one, and the first thing I did was find various cat TV shows (birds and squirrels and the like). Now all the energetic cats are TV addicts.
My Iddy Biddy Kitty used to do this when she was young. We always thought she was trying to catch Mario. Added more to the game, dodging both koopas and her paws. 😊 My current kitties didn’t seem interested, though my blue did take a swipe at my 3ds yesterday. 😉
Lupin’s hardly alone! One of our otherwise better behaved cats LOVED to hop in front of the TV and bat at the video games. She never seemed nearly as interested when it was just TV.
I’ve never streamed games over the big-screen (and our setup right now is front-projector anyway, which would be impossible for cats to climb on) but, in the past, we’ve had both cats and dogs who have tried to catch or pounce on the ball in televised sports — including, during my teen years, a Scottie who was absolutely obsessed with trying to catch the basketball during Celtics games, chasing and snapping at it as it got passed around the court.
Good luck with the Baby! It’s so true that they are concerned for the people on the TV. My little boy is really concerned about Dogmeat, and really wants to touch him.
Thank you for your wonderful stories. They are always worth waiting for. I think all cats love to play with the screen, I know my small LCD tv screen has more then its share of cat scratches from Arabella and Clyde. I am also glad to hear the baby is getting better and hope everyone else does not catch a cold. Have a great weekend and I look forward to the next one on Monday!..or Tuesday.
He is an instant new favorite of “The Man’s,” too, I may have to bring him in a few more times! He was really cute to draw. I tried to sort of take Snake from ‘Metal Gear Solid’, Mario, and a ‘Spelunky’ type character and sort of mash them together into one cute, little, chubby, haggard Irish looking dude with an eye patch. 🙂
I was just thinking with the box it was Metal Gear but also reminded me of Mario. Didn’t catch the Spelunky but I love that game as well. I now want to play “The Little Man” game.
We love Spelunky too! That’s one game in particular that the Man and I play together or hand off the controller to each other. Metal Gear has taken over the tv lately, though!
I instantly dubbed the game Mario Gear Solid when I saw the character, and I’m sure if I were familiar with Spelunky, I’d have caught that, too. I’m impressed.
Oh my, so worth the wait! Elvis’ expression in panel 14 is great! And Pucky wanting to send the little man a hug! Even without those, reporters in their jammies are just too adorable.
Does real-life Lupin try to rescue the little TV man?
Yes! This is something the real life Lupin still does. As a video game character “races” across the screen, he will try to “pull them out,” ha! This was one of the first headlines I scribbled into a note book almost two years ago now, and I finally had a chance to use it!
Yes, I remember during your recent broadcast, Lupin “helped” a lot! There is always one in every bunch that truly believes they are “helping” you. Momma couldn’t do this without me! Right! Love this…I get the same thing with my two…”eek! A monster! I kill it, Momma!”
That was so worth waiting for. By far the funniest strip EVER!!!! The look of terror on Elvis’s face had me rolling.LOVED it!!!!!And the Jammie’s..I could go on forever. Just Awesome!!!
Love the Jammies. Maybe there will new ones for the Holidays! So sweet that the boys are concerned about the little TV man. My new additions – 2 shelter kitties – haven’t figured out the TV yet. Give them time.
You have the sweetest, most sensitive reporters ever! Loved the tear from Elvis, hug from Pucky, and Elvis’ look of horror, and the looks of joy on all. Thanks Georgia, great way to start the day!!! Glad Gwen is feeling better. Teething only lasts a short time, hang in there!
Horray! The comic is up! *happy jig*
The jammies on the kitties are priceless! And Elvis’ poor little eyes all huge and full of tears with concern for the poor little man he can relate to hiding in the box–I had to let out a huge awwww!
The screensaver for our very big TV is a fish bowl. Gandalf The Cream – our “small” Maine Coon is determined to get the yellow fish. Yes, he is. Oh, yes. (check house insurance for electronic replacements)
Hahaha! Reminds me of my dad’s ex-girlfriend’s cats who would watch me play Super Mario Bros. Whenever a goomba got bonked on the head, popped up, then fell down, the cats would search around the bottom of the TV for it. 😀
You got that reversed actually, I work with electronics as a hobby, mostly splicing USB wires with LED bulbs, but sometimes I work with transistors and transmitters. Some of my spliced USB lights work by remote and can change colors =3
A transistor is a semiconductor device. A transmitter is something that sends an electromagnetic signal to be received someplace else.
loving the latest adventures of the boys (and the little man in the TV). I’m thinking the second last panel (with the text trimmed) would make an awesome avatar – a double thumbs-up for BCN 🙂
When things were a little behind, I assumed that there was a little unrest in the baby department. Glad it all worked out.
Well worth waiting for, as ever. Glad to hear that the little man is rescued. Pucky was clearly worried.
The wait was well worth it. This also reminds me of when we had our cat Charlie. He dove head-first into the TV to attack Mario, only to run upstairs with his shame of defeat. Great comic! 🙂
Great strip. Love the whipped cream curl in Lupin’s mug – I’m assuming that’s hot chocolate since it is bedtime and not coffee. And Elvis really is softie under that bluff & brash exterior. Glad the baby is doing better. Like someone else said, we feel like we’re a part of your extended family. Worries us when something happens. Have a great Thanksgiving, Georgia.
Well worth the wait. All the details, Elvis’s admission that he hides in a box, too- The drama, the horror, the joy when the little man comes back- all of it super hilarious!
Glad all is well now in your household. The new strip was worth the wait. I’ll be reading it over and over to see the little things I missed the first time. My cat Torie is afraid of the tv. Every time she walks by she stares in terror at the large screen and races by as fast as she can. I just know she thinks there are uninvited strangers in the house.
Teething and a cold makes for a very unhappy fussing baby so you have our sympathy and we completely understand.
In the first panel — love the dollop of whipped cream on Lupin’s (what I believe is) hot chocolate! And I LOVE all the other little details others have mentioned already from Elvis’ empathy and tear to Puck cuddling in your arm as you play. You put your heart into BCN, Georgia! ♡
Got to say I’m surprised how other people’s cats take an interest in the TV as Tuulikki rarely gives it a second glance. Perhaps because she lived a wild life outdoors as a stray or feral so that unless something is real, it doesn’t hold her interest? No idea. But she takes a great deal of interest in any bird, squirrel, raccoon, other cat and even occasional coyote that comes through our backyard.
Oh, the Boys are all so concerned for the little man in the TV, it’s very touching! I hope that you, the Man (and the Toddler) were able to get some sleep with the Baby both teething and with a cold! Perhaps Elvis needs to cuddle up to her a bit more, after all he *is* her protector!
Oh, Elvis’ expressions here are fantastic! The joy, the horror, the relief! My mother’s siamese used to watch wildlife shows with her, and she always looked around on the floor under the TV for the critters that had run off the screen. =)
Thank goodness! Everyone can relax now and stop worryong about people being stuck in TVs!!! hope the baby keeps on improving, thanks again Georgia for letting us see how your fabulous family lives and loves xxx
My g’grandparents’ cat used to sit on top of the tv and bat people’s hands away if they tried to turn it off. Because — wait for it — tv’s used to be big enough to sit on AND they used to get warm from the picture tube inside.
I’m glad that flat-screens are amusing some cats too. Not mine. I tried putting on a “birds feeding on a snowy wall” video last summer, and, let’s just say that I was more entertained than they were. (And the “birds in woodland” videos were great to have on in the background while I could also hear real birds outside.)
One of my cats would watch me play the now-closed MMO ‘City of Heroes’, he liked watching the particular villains the “Circle of Thorns” because they had explody green magic puffs. Apparently Mews thought that was awesome.
Wow. Because, okay, COH was literally my world for 8 years. You please pass along that we still miss it, and if he’s on any of the facebook groups for it, I’m zekiran on those too. *sigh* it is such a small world. 😀 Did he ever come to the San Diego con?
He did! In a work way, he was sent by his company to document their time there in a video for the employees! He loved it! If you remember the commercial for the COH steampunk package, I remember him working on that one particularly! He worked on COH and Aion for NCSoft, and he really liked working with the COH studio, they were lovely people! I remember once when he got a promotion in the Seattle NCSoft studio, the COH studio in CA remotely bought him and his team lunch to celebrate. 🙂 It was good times, we miss them too!
I gotta tell you, the world is such a small place. 🙂 I hung out at the City of Heroes / NC booth every year they were there, and when they didn’t go shortly before they closed COH, it was tremendously obvious how much time I’d used to spend at it. I certainly hope that he’s got a good gig going now, after NC nixed the property we all chipped in with the thank you meal, fundraising and all that for the now-displaced devs and we’d do it again in a heartbeat. 🙂 Endless love for you guys, for so many reasons – cats and COH!!
Thank you so much!! That is so wild, it really is a small world!! At the moment the Man works for a certain toy company creating their commercials! He enjoys it very much, yet I know he still hopes to get back into working with video games again. Maybe one day!
This is adorable! My cats have never done that, but the then again my brother and I could get fairly animated when we played together, so I guess they learned to stay out of range when video games are playing lol. Though they do enjoy curling up in my lap when I’m playing something solo.
Oh, in the first panel is that a curl of foam in Lupin’s mug, or is his coffee wearing a tiny sleep cap? Which would be adorable btw.
funny, none of my cats ever reacted to anything on a tv screen (except the sound of a doorbell, which meant a dreaded “stranger” might be at the door). Nor did they seem to see themselves in mirrors. I know many cats do.
Hahaha! Scared Elvis XD Not surprised; Puck won’t let us play Super Mario Bros. Always trying to catch the little jumping men. Strangely, she like Luigi more than Mario, though.
So wonderful that the cats are worried about the little man in the television. OTOH, it must drive you wild trying to play with all that ‘help.’ Love it!
When I was in college in the ’60s my cat would watch the tiny black and white tv whenever football or Roadrunner cartoons were on. He’d get so excited and run behind the set to try to get the jump on them! Too bad he’s long gone-he would have loved The Kitten Bowl!
Panel 10 is the best, though Lupin trying a daring rescue is also great. I’ve never had a white cat, though quite a few black ones, but Lupin’s personality is great. Elvis reminds me of my Princess Beatrix, who doesn’t like anyone else touching her, but who, when it is dark, will lie on my side for an orgy of tummy rubs. She is my ‘miniature Maine Coon’ and very vocal and intelligent.
My old dog Gracie used to love to watch Football. My old cat Pookie liked to listen to country music. The other old cat, Gizmo, used to sit at attention in front of the TV every time the Marine Hymn was played for 4th of July or Memorial or Veterans Day.
My current kitty, Lily, the saber-toothed tabby, doesn’t care for sports or video games but she loves the shows “Gossip Girl”, “Tudors” and “Scandal”.
The little prima donna loves ‘catty’ tv shows! LOL!
We know this one! One of our cats, Loud Howard, loves the LEGO Batman games. He comes running when he hears the music and will just stare at the screen the whole time.
Ok it’s official! This is one of my favorites!!!! Reminds me of my cat Ariel when I’m watching TV or playing Mario Party with Mom she’ll try to attack the characters on the screen!
The only time my cats ever interrupted my video games is when they would rub up against the sensor activated on/off button or the eject button on my XBox 360… No matter where I put it, they always try and succeed in turning it off or opening the CD tray when I’m playing a game. They probably like the sound it makes.
I had a cat (Patches, a calico) who watched an old western with us. Indians chasing a stagecoach. The stagecoach rode off the screen to the right, and Patches went looking for it beside the TV and behind it. We laughed so hard. Patches also had a bad habit of running and scaling the little wall between the kitchen and dining room…to this day I still have the claw marks on both sides of the wall. Warm memories. Thank you guys for sharing yours….and you too, Georgia!
It’s all good Georgia. You (and presumably the Man) have been doing your best for little Gwen; I am so glad that she is better. Here at the shelter we have been doing everything in our power to keep a little black kitten from being taken out by a severe URI. Keep preaching spay/neuter folks. Too many of these severely compromised kittens should never have been born. We see so many of them every year who come to us with so many problems … many of them caused by inbreeding. The whole country needs to step up and do what is necessary to stop this overwhelming glut of unwanted kittens and puppies that are overwhelming shelters from one end to the other. Sorry to preach … but it is really hard when you do everything you have and the end result is a dead kitten. Again everyone who sees this post … support Spay/Neuter! Nobody needs to let their cat or dog have babies. If you want your kids to see “the birth of life” rent a video; don’t bring more unwanted animals into the world.
Hello, everyone! Thank you for your patience, I’m sorry this strip was late! The Baby had a cold on top of teething, and I was unable to work on the comic at all Wednesday night. Georgia,
So glad everything is OK. I, and I’m sure others, worry when something happens. We all feel like part of your extended family.
Lorraine
Thank you so much, Lorraine! <3
I saw a post on facebook this morning that said: I need something that’s more than coffee but less than cocaine. 😉
You have nothing to forgive. We are all very grateful for your marvelous strips. And, yes, the paint is important. Water color? Beautiful. Always. Hope Baby is better!
Glad to know I wasn’t the only one who worried when BCN didn’t show up in my mail yesterday. Hope The Baby feels better soon.
You really don’t need to apologise. It is always worth waiting for
I really like this comic, but one thing bugs me; when the little man gets a new life the display lists 2 (hearts)/ 5 (hearts) and I’m not sure what you meant by that. Is his life at 2 out of 5? If he started with something like 2 (life) and 5 (magic) it would make perfect sense, but that would mean two different icons.
I’m sorry for nitpicking, I truly enjoy your comic.
I meant it as he started with 5 and has 2 out of 5 left.
Another great strip. My cats love the Playstation, and the telly generally.
Glad baby is doing better.
Also, this is a real thing Lupin does… Constantly.
Panels 6-8 reminded me of Pucky in “The Woman has a Hairball”.
Mine do that too. We got my brother’s old huge flatscreen TV last year when he got a new one, and the first thing I did was find various cat TV shows (birds and squirrels and the like). Now all the energetic cats are TV addicts.
When the internet was just starting out we had this
http://www.amazon.com/Video-Catnip-Entertainment-Cats-VHS/dp/B00000JKYM
It was actually on *GASP!* VHS! XD
Now that Internet exists and keeps on growing, we just leave wildlife youtube videos playing on our old tv XD

My ‘Gran Turismo II’ game used to freeze on occasion. Clueless Morgan had figured out to open the box AND remove the cd!!! 🙂
Good luck with the Baby! It’s so true that they are concerned for the people on the TV. My little boy is really concerned about Dogmeat, and really wants to touch him.
My cat ignores Dogmeat with the usual disdain reserved for our dogs, but my Pomeranian (an honorary cat) worried for him when he whines.
And the never-ending curiosity of cats continues! Great way to start the morning, Georgia!
Georgia, these are such a joy to read… the emotion… the expressions… the details… the drama!
Have a great weekend and I look forward to the next one on Monday!..or Tuesday.
omg this is so silly! Glad to have a few chuckles this Friday morning!
I hope we see more adventures of “the Little Man.”
It reminded me of that combined with a game called Dustforce.
Does “little TV man” have a name yet? Super Seamus Bros?
Hahaha!! I love that!! At the moment I labeled him as Storm Cloud Racer, but his first name may have to be Seamus now….
Oddly, the “little man” looked at first to me like a young red-bearded Fidel Castro…but then I don’t do games much…
I instantly dubbed the game Mario Gear Solid when I saw the character, and I’m sure if I were familiar with Spelunky, I’d have caught that, too. I’m impressed.
Thank you!! Mario Gear Solid!!! Hahaha!! I love that!
Would you say the jammies are…
*dons shades*
…the cats’ pyjamas?
I would indeed😊
*slow clap*
And I had to fuss at Gio because he was doing this yesterday…lol
Love the Jammies. Maybe there will new ones for the Holidays! So sweet that the boys are concerned about the little TV man. My new additions – 2 shelter kitties – haven’t figured out the TV yet. Give them time.
Nooooo, no new Jammies. I love the consistency, these are truly the Cat’s
Pajamas 🙂
Love this. Our cat Puddin’ often jumps in on games of FIFA soccer, attempting to bat the ball. Or players.
My cat, Lucky sat and watched the entire 1988 movie “The Bear” with me. The only time one of my cats showed any interest in the TV.
No wonder The Guys feel sorry for the Little Man. He only has 5 lives.
My cat Ivannah did that when I was a child!! Thank you for stirring my memory! (And what a great memory, cats are so funny!)
did you mean electronic “transmitter” when you said “transistor” ?
ugh. now I sound like “that guy”.
perhaps it’s Puck. he’s not an AV cat, after all.
What video game were you playing?
some Mario Brothers variant, maybe ?
Lupin does this with a lot of video games, but especially Street Fighter, Third Strike, Spelunky, and Metal Gear Solid! 🙂
The wait was well worth it. This also reminds me of when we had our cat Charlie. He dove head-first into the TV to attack Mario, only to run upstairs with his shame of defeat. Great comic! 🙂
I love Elvis’s shows of emotion!
The PJs! They’re killing me!
OMG.. Panel 13 and 14.. OMG… this is full of ALL the Adorbs!!!!!
Blahahahaha! Ohohohohoh! My stomach!
Oh. My. God. This is amazing.
Pajamas! Head literally just exploded from adorable pajamas!!!! All cats should be required to wear them!
This was well worth the wait! Thanks for the giggles and glad Gwen is feeling better.

But she takes a great deal of interest in any bird, squirrel, raccoon, other cat and even occasional coyote that comes through our backyard.
So, was it Puck’s button-pushing for the hug that caused the conflagration in panel 13?
Oh, the Boys are all so concerned for the little man in the TV, it’s very touching! I hope that you, the Man (and the Toddler) were able to get some sleep with the Baby both teething and with a cold! Perhaps Elvis needs to cuddle up to her a bit more, after all he *is* her protector!
Oh, Elvis’ expressions here are fantastic! The joy, the horror, the relief! My mother’s siamese used to watch wildlife shows with her, and she always looked around on the floor under the TV for the critters that had run off the screen. =)

“And the world in the TV is terrible.” So true, so true. Out of the mouths of ? cats?
This strip (slice of life) is always worth waiting for, no need for apologies.
My g’grandparents’ cat used to sit on top of the tv and bat people’s hands away if they tried to turn it off. Because — wait for it — tv’s used to be big enough to sit on AND they used to get warm from the picture tube inside.

Fun coincidence, the Man worked on the creative services team for ‘City of Heroes!’ He made some of the commercials and trailers and whatnot!
O_____O REALLY?
Wow. Because, okay, COH was literally my world for 8 years. You please pass along that we still miss it, and if he’s on any of the facebook groups for it, I’m zekiran on those too. *sigh* it is such a small world. 😀 Did he ever come to the San Diego con?

Oh my cat, the little robes and pjs! Ded.

Puck is so sweet.
I’m glad the baby is feeling better.
I just luv the jammies!! 🙂
I love that the boys are in their PJs because playing video games is a nighttime activity.
Note: Never read this strip while washing dishes at work 😂
Oh so worth the wait…
Hahaha! Scared Elvis XD Not surprised; Puck won’t let us play Super Mario Bros. Always trying to catch the little jumping men. Strangely, she like Luigi more than Mario, though.

Glad you’re ok, hope Gwen’s tooth is in soon!
I now find myself wondering what my critters think about the constant adventures of Vault Dude and Dogmeat.
I’m so glad your baby is ok! Best wishes!
Huh. So that’s why my cat was pawing at the screen while I was playing Mario. I thought she was trying to catch him, but she was trying to help him!
Hey, I didn’t know Jesus played Super Mario Bros!
Kinda makes sense… what with the resurrections and all.
The only time my cats ever interrupted my video games is when they would rub up against the sensor activated on/off button or the eject button on my XBox 360… No matter where I put it, they always try and succeed in turning it off or opening the CD tray when I’m playing a game. They probably like the sound it makes.
Elvis’ face-of-horror is brilliant.
If panel twelve is not meme’d I will be very sad as it is truly deserving.
Ugggggggg teething problems sorry
Lol so funny!
I forserious want a “THE LITTLE TV MAN LIVES” t-shirt for my man-creature this Christmas.
