My cats bravely investigate and attack TWO mysterious “lumps” in my bed too. These lumps usually appear at night and are always at the foot of the bed. After the initial attacks, the kitties lay siege until dawn using their body weight to subdue the mysterious-ness. So heroic.
We have had mysterious lumps here in our apartment as well! Might they be spreading and taking over the beds of the world? I know BREAKING CAT NEWS is on the story!
I think they do know! Experience this every day when making the bed and especially when changing the sheets. They love when you snap the sheets or the blanket into the air and let them settle on the bed. Excitement abounds! Thanks again for the smiles and laughter Georgia!
Well now, every cat knows the bed isn’t properly made unless there’s a layer of cat between every layer of bedding. The proper order is mattress/cat/fitted sheet/cat/flat sheet/cat/blanket. Options include up to four cats between flat sheet and blanket.
In cooler weather in houses without central heating or where the thermostat setting is inconsiderately low, I believe that discerning cats prefer the duvet to be left folded, so that they can worm into the middle of the folds and make a little cat den of snuggliness. Based purely on observation of two kitty-girls who couldn’t reach the thermostat, that is.
This brings up happy kiddo memories of getting in my mum’s way when she made the bed. I should buy her some flowers. I love the relationship between the three reporters 😀
Love Puck — HAVE AT THEE!
Perfect timing on this one. My cat was doing this last night.
Right before I had to paint this one Puck and Elvis acted it out once again, this time roles reversed! It’s like they KNEW!

Works about the same with boys, too
I love the exasperated expression on Lupin’s face (panel 11). But Puck continues to win my unabashed affection and love!

LOL at the teeth coming through the cover!
FOR JOURNALISM!
Elvis reminds me so much of my own Siamese, Zaedus, and it makes me giggle every time you update.
This is so awesome.
Lupin’s face in panel 11! That would make SUCH a great mug design!!!
Poor Lupin, always having to be the logical one. 🙂

Haha!!! I love that!
Could you advise on the use of a duvet?

Imagine the heating bills if the cats could adjust the thermostat to their liking…
Clearly you are wise in the way of cats and bedmaking. (It’s definitely how it seems to work too!)
CRUNCH ha ha ha !!! 🙂
I wish we could post pics here, because I have one of my boys that is exactly like panel 9. Down to the teeth.
My Siamese also likes sleeping under covers but fortunately other cats don’t attack her 🙂
Our kwats sit on top of the blankets and attack the human lumps under them.

Toe-mice! There are also toe-mice under the covers!
My Loki is expert at hunting toe mice 🙂
For science, I just tested it, and I thought I’d let you know that this page is the #4 result on Google for “mysterious lump”. =)
That’s excellent! Thank you for letting me know! 🙂
BCN’s equivalent of a military story on “friendly” fire.
Why is it there? What does it want?
