That is a beautiful honor for me as an author to hear that (and hopefully for your friend as a cat lover as well!) I hope it gives you a lot of comfort Chef Hom! Strength for Sunday!
What a happy Monday morning. Beatrix in her new home and Trevor happy with his new friend – what could be better? Also love that Beatrix will be the resident fact-checker. Reminds me of the old Spencer Tracy/Katherine Hepburn movie Desk Set.
PS – Picked up my copy of the book on Saturday. It turned out really lovely. Congratulations!
When do you expect the GoComics strips to catch up to the current strips? They seem to be updating daily, or almost daily, and I don’t need to see them there if I see them here (it’s much more fun to see them here). I think it’s getting close, isn’t it?
Tomorrow is the day, folks! The ‘Breaking Cat News’ book will be out in the world! I am so excited, and thank all of you who requested a book, pre-ordered, are anxiously awaiting, or all of the above! Without your encouragement, support, and friendly vocal demands for a book, this would not have happened! THANK YOU!
I’m told many Barnes & Noble locations will be carrying it in their ‘Humor’ section! Check your local bookstores! Let them know a bookstore cat sent you!
And here Beatrix is, in her new forever home! Do not fear–she will still be a BIG part of the comic! The boys seem a little surprised to see her housemate, oh dear….
Planning our day tomorow to pick up our copy from The Ivy Book Store, a local independent. Then a celebration dinner to really have it in our hands. Then home to enjoy.😻
This is just adorable. I love the Boys’ t-shirts, Bea’s shameless plug (mine’s in the mail, Bea!), the various job descriptions, and REALLY love Bea’s expression as she serves her bookwarming duties and the interaction between her and Trevor. And, of course, Elvis’s reaction to realizing that HIS little girl is living with a DOG. Complete with Puck trying to push the puff away.
Our local bookstore cats would all approve. One of our local bookstore cats was also the Fax Cat – he was always present when a fax came in, notified the People if needed, and occasionally brought the newly arrived fax to them if attention was not paid fast enough. Bookstore cats are the best!
I just adore when the cats show their little fangs. So cute!
Such a warm and fuzzy comic this Monday. I am loving the t-shirts the boys are wearing. Love that Beatrix is in her element and has found her calling. (And bookstore correspondent!) I’m glad she will still be hanging around.
And I am sooo ordering several copies of your book to give out as gifts! My oldest daughter will be getting one for her birthday. She just loves “BCN” as much as I do. Thank you for all your work. It brings a lot of joy to so many people.
Beatrix, while I would love to come to your bookstore and buy my copy of BCN, my copy is already on its way to me from Amazon. May I suggest that the “bookstore” sell a BCN coloring book, and a lot of merchandise with your beautiful self on it. I, for one, would be happy to empty my wallet if Beatrix merchandise were available.
A coloring book is such a lovely idea! I would definitely grab one. I shamelessly have several coloring books. Favorite characters would be a joy to color.
I love this so much. Little Be a is growing up. Absolutely adore the boys wearing their Proud Parent…. t-shirts. Now Trevor can be with his little friend. I know I’ve said it before, this strip makes me so happy. Today I cried happy tears and chuckled over poofy Elvis.
This is so great! The book is out today and Beatrix is in the bookstore with Trevor! THE GUARD DOG!! reading 2 great dog books by Jack London. The boys are surprised to see Trevor and Elvis is Flipping Out in last panel! I love their proud parents t-shirts, too. Great strip Georgia, and congrats on the book.
Poor Elvis is so jealous! I hope Bea visits him soon! Congrats on the book coming out, Georgia! I pre-ordered on Amazon and I can’t wait for it to get here! My kids are going to flip out! xoxox JoAnn
This is so beyond wonderful. Grinning ear to ear here. I wonder if Elvis and Trevor will ever meet – hmmm – not sure if they should. C’mon Elvis, to know him is to love him. Waiting on pins and needles for tomorrow – my book is in town but will not be delivered until 5/10 even though I ordered it Jan. 2. But I out foxed ’em – I ordered the Kindle too and that will be here one second after midnight.
Great strip Georgia, and congrats on the book!
*Ordered!! I cannot WAIT until Thursday when it comes. I’m clearing my “schedule”!
I see comics being read as bedtime stories for the next few weeks for the littlest ones. 😉
I like how there’s clearly a matching red “proud parent of a bookstore cat” shirt under Lupin’s jacket on the first frame, which you only realize on a second look.
A strip full of warm and fuzzy awesome <3 The boys shirts, Burt and intruder cameos, Bea fangs are just adorable and lol, love Trevor's books. As for Elvis… i don't think i've ever seen him poof up quite so much, lol, any more and that panel would have just been his poofed up head.
If I were to be reborn as a cat, I would want to be a book store cat!
LOVE books! And I wouldn’t mind a friendly dog as a companion (maybe my hubby coming back as a gentle Mastiff!)
My copy of BCN won’t arrive fast enough!! Amazon hasn’t even started to package it up for mailing yet! Argh!
Is Trevor a Border Collie or an Autralian Cattle dog? I’m sure you’ve answered this question before but I can’t remember.
Congratulations on your First book, I’m so happy for you!
Georgia – We really, truly need a set of mugs with all the Station Identifier logos on them! Including, of course, the new Bookstore Station. This is the Best. Strip. EVER! (^_^)
I Love BCN Georgia. I have not enjoyed a comic so much since Bill Watterson’s Calvin & Hobbes. The two of you each have more ability to connect with your readers than all the others out there put together. Thank you for sharing your talent with the rest of us. I see all the cats that have shared their lives with me over the years in your strips. Can’t wait for Amazon to send me your book, (I’m a bit jealous others all ready have theirs.
We hope that the Book Store has “Catwings” by Ursula LeGuin prominently displayed near BCN. “Their hands are kind” so well describes all the People in BCN. The series is precious.
Little Bea is so proud to have her own mic and I love the bookstore ID. Great cameo of The Intruder, and Burt. I thought you migh have hidden one of the Robber Mice but didn’t see one. Trevor looks very happy & content. The t-shirts are fabulous. wish i could be a bookstore cat too, i can do all of the jobs listed. But Georgia, didn’t you warn poor Elvis that his baby girl would be living with an older dog?! I don’t think he has ever been so puffy that he knocked Lupin & Puck out of the shot before.
I can’t wait for the book. It is going to be my staff pick at work when it comes in. I am a manager at a bookstore that rhymes with Yarns a Global, near the kitties old stomping grounds of Seattle.
Have not received my copy of the book…but I am sure Amazon will ship.it shortly. Love the tee shirts, Burt and the intruder. Dear little Bea is right in her element.
Too wonderful. You really are skilled, Georgia, at pulling all the threads together. I don’t know how hard you have to work at it, but it appears effortless (which can mean a LOT of work went into it). By threads, I mean:Trevor, climbing skills, Burt, your new book, independent bookstores, the boys transitioning to proud parents, foster parenting, the internship. Masterful storytelling. I guess Beatrix really is part of the new generation, more tolerant of cultural differences of the canine variety than the “dog, our bitey enemy” generation.
My copy will be here tomorrow. It’s a big event for me. I will also go to my local bookstore and get another to support both you and them. I agree today’s strip rocks. The Shirts are so cool and happy Trevor warms my heart.
I have an Amazon warehouse right near me, so I hope my book gets here as fast as my Harry Potter books did. I am forced to wait. I don’t have. Key to the mailbox. I WANT MY BOOK🎈🎈🎈
“Proud Parent of a Bookstore Cat” – love it! Sounds like she’s gonna be a busy little bee-tricks with all her new duties *and* remaining the social media handler.
Hopefully I’ll get my (pre-ordered) shamelessly plugged merchandise tomorrow, otherwise I’m not sure when I’ll be able to pick it up.
So looking forward to the arrival of my copy! I love Elvis’s t-shirt. He really is going to lose this year’s Crabbiest Cat competition. And I love how happy Trevor looks.
Georgia: any news on the possibility of getting signed copies of the book? I do occasionally order author-signed books from Powell’s (last one I got was the Portlandia book that was autographed by Fred and Carrie!). Thank you.
I have not figured that bit out yet… I had planned to offer folks to send them with self addressed envelopes, but quickly realized that between caring for the kids and writing the comic those were going to pile up. I’m still thinking of a way to offer this in the future!
That has been suggested! I may do that, but there are only certain times I usually have the Etsy shop opened, so I worried it might be a little all-or-nothing at times. :/
In truth, part of the trouble is anything I have to organize and mail out. I can work on things like that or the comic, time is something I scramble for between the kids and the comic.
Charge a small amount and use it to pay someone to handle that for you?
I won’t get mine for a month, due to being in Scotland, but I am tracking the sales on Amazon (US and UK) in a spreadsheet, and can’t wait to see how it takes off once it’s released! We are all cheering you on, Georgia!
I’m anxiously awaiting my copy! Beautiful work, as always. So happy to see how far you’ve come. We all love you, Georgia. Keep up the outstanding work😘
Elvis’ shirt has me dying over here! I am at TF Greene waiting to board a flight to Chicago and I don’t want to look like an idiot laughing my head off! Love the BCN book promo, too!
Great job, Georgia!
I really enjoy reading Breaking Cat News.
Today was a great day of expansion. I’m so happy the dog got his tea!
thanks for sharing with us.
Georgia, you can get coffee mugs that either lose the artwork or gains the artwork when heated/cooled–it would be cool to have a disappearing Lupin when you pour coffee into the mug! My copy of the shamelessly plugged book is on its way from Amazon–we can’t wait to peruse it! But WOW, you continue to elevate the artwork and scripts to new levels every week! We can’t wait to see what’s next! Or when the next video opp might take place!
Long time reader, first time commenter… I enjoy the strip very much and have reserved my copy of the book at Barnes & noble. Thanks for sharing another awesome strip!
What you’re doing with the comic and the Tweeting is amazing! Following the characters is like being part of a family- I don’t think anyone else is doing this to the extent you are. I checked Twitter about four minutes after Beatrix had posted about getting ready to leave for the bookstore and I couldn’t help but check every few minutes for the payoff when she gets there. I haven’t been this engaged by comic strip characters since I was a kid. Thank you for sharing your talents and making us all feel like part of your family!
Georgia,if you decide to put out bookstore catcshirts, I want one, any thing to help shelter kitties!! Love the comic, Elvis is do kewl at the end panel!!
May I recommend to Trevor the Albert Payson Terhune books about his beloved collies beginning with “Lad: A Dog”. I read and enjoyed these books many years ago as a young girl. I also recommend “Beautiful Joe”, a fine old book about an abused mixed breed dog who found a kind home with a minister and his family.
Wow! Another Terhune fan. I remember I read all of those I could get my hands on when I was a little girl. Lad, lady, wolf, lad a dog, lad of sunny bank, I think blind Ellen, etc. One of my proudest memories is being in second grade and being told by the school librarian that I could pick any book in the library to read…no longer restricted to the “baby” section, could pick from the “big kids” shelves, too. I picked Lad, A Dog, of maybe 200 pages, and could not put it down. I had to look up a number of words, but I was hooked.
Her Rotundity Jingle Bell Katz suggests the Rita Mae Brown and Sneaky Pie Brown mysteries about the crime solving tabby cat Mrs. Murphy and her stalwart companion the Welsh Corgi Tucker.
Work blocks Breaking Cat News but not Go Comics. No logic to that. So now I can read it at work. I will still read the comments here, they are the best.
trevors so happy.
book will arrive in mail soon yippie
i noticed on your freebies page you have some coloring drawings to print out. would love to see more that are not holiday related. pretty please.
Oh my Cat Georgia! You just keep getting better and better! You bring an island of happiness twice a week, even when things at the shelter aren’t always so happy. Cat speed to you.
So much to love, puffy Elvis, the boys t-shirts, Beatrix looks so excited and Trevor looks so happy now that he has found out he hasn’t lost his little friend. I hope most of Beatrix’s fact checking comes after the fact, some of my favorite things is when the boys get things wrong. Maybe she can do some research on the June bug, he should be making his annual appearance soon.
This was such a happy strip full of color! I loved it from first panel to poofy Elvis! I once knew a veterinary clinic cat who would hold the checkbook open for me to write the check.
Another fabulous strip, Georgia. I laughed out loud at Bea’s ‘shamelessly plugging merchandise’. LOL! You go Bea! The boys T shirts, a happy Trevor with his little buddy and puffy Elvis! So much wonderful fun and love and adorableness. And I can’t stop chuckling at puffy Elvis…
I have the book!! Well at least the Kindle version, I was going to tell you which one was my favorite… but it turns out they’re all my favorites. Well I do love the cupcake one with Lupin letting the others try for the Woman’s cupcake while he sits on the counter with the other 11. This is so my Amber except she’d just eat all 11 cupcakes by herself and then when caught would look oh, so innocent and inform me ”You completely missed the aliens, they swooped down in their ship and stole the cupcakes. It wasn’t me! I’m a good girl, I wouldn’t do anything bad like that! ”
Well here it is after midnight, I have to be at work at 7am and I still have half the book to read, I’ll go to bed early tonight… tomorrow?
I adore the colouring in this one! I mean it’s always beautiful, but the way you’ve coloured this strip Georgia is so vibrant and eye-catching–it shows Beatrix’s excited mood. 🙂 Burt is so darling humming away whilst setting up equipment and connecting VGA cords. 😀 And look how happy Trevor is! The picture of contentment. I’m not surprised Elvis got all puffy over this, *sigh* it was inevitable. He just has to get used to being friends with a dog. 😉 And yes! I cannot WAIT to get my copy of BCN the book! 😀 I hope it comes this weekend!
My roommate and I are getting kittens next week, and my little Portia looks a whole lot like Beatrice! Portia will be spending much time with books, too, since I’m a confirmed bibliophile/addict. Must pick up a copy of the shamelessly plugged book for the apartment coffee table!
Great strip about Beatrix! Amazon says my book has been delivered. Not In the mailbox, the Studebaker (where they leave packages so they don’t have to come down our treacherous driveway), or on the porch (If UPS delivers). I suspect I may have robber mice.
I want to know how the guys got their “Proud Parents of..” t-shirts made so quickly! Mine always take a couple of weeks for a custom job and it’s only been a day or two (story-wise) since Beatrix got her new job!
Oh, did I mention that I LOVE your strip and that between the coffee mugs, t-shirts, wall-hangings and the soon to be delivered book, my condo is beginning to look like a BCN gift shop??
Just got The Book today! Can’t wait to read it! Happiness! So happy to see Beatrix doing what she loves. She’ll never “work” a day in her life! My wife was a trainer at a facility for the developmentally challenged and had an office cat. Just about everyone would stop in and give him a pet, or sit and stroke him during conferences. He even was on the answering machine for the office! He has since crossed the Rainbow Bridge, but his presence is still felt with us. Anyway, Soooooooooooooo looking forward to reading the book!
Along with the BCN book, I had ordered an older hard-to-find graphic novel from Barnes and Noble. When the package arrived on Saturday, I didn’t open it right away thinking it was the graphic novel. During Sunday breakfast, I opened it and was pleasantly surprised to find out it was BCN! I immediately gave it to my wife as a Happy Cat Mom Day gift. 🙂
My book arrived today! I read it this afternoon, my mother (who doesn’t quite have the hang of webcomics, but that may change) is currently reading it an laughing herself silly. I think I may have to introduce her to the site archives soon!
That’s awesome!! I am really excited for folks who might not do webcomics to finally have a chance to read it! In my own family, my 87 year old grandmother has been reading one ‘Breaking Cat News’ “story” a night since I sent her one of my few early “author” copies a couple of weeks ago!
I am having trouble imagining, and most likely there is no way to put it into words, but what is it like to walk into a Barnes and Noble and see YOUR book for sale on the shelf? Does it seem real at all? Or do you keep expecting to wake up and find that it was only a pleasant dream?
It does not seem real in the least, ha!! I teared up looking at it, and felt very happy and very delightfully strange. Toddler did say, “that is my Mom’s cat book!” (we have had an advance copy at home for a couple of weeks) and that made me very happy.
Thank you Jenna! I will too, I have to admit. However–the good news is, certain headlines play out over a few daily strips, so often times a story will unfold over a week or two. I think that will be a lot of fun in the shorter daily strips, but it is something I am getting used to as well!
Simple block lettering = goode olde fashioned heat transfer letters, done while you wait, not a custom screen print job. I think you can also get fancier stuff done WYW now with inkjet heat transfers, but I haven’t really been involved since olde fashioned was the state of the art.
Or: In BCN-world, these are a stock item at all the better cat clothing suppliers, since bookstore cat is a high-status job, and all parent-figure cats want one when it happens.
Got my Breaking Cat News book this past weekend and love it! Got in my BCN News Team coffee mug in last week and it’s now my favorite mug. Thank you for this moving, funny and very True Cat strip Georgia ( with apologies to Heathcliff and Mutts which I also enjoy).
I got my book yesterday! What can I say other than BRAVA! It is simply wonderful. And thank you and your publisher for making it eligible for Amazon Smiles points so that my favorite charity will also benefit from all the additional books I’m buying for birthday and Christmas gifts.
Georgia:
If you can get sticker paper from your local craft store, and sign it repeatedly, I will undertake to get “ballplayers” sent to those who send an stamped, self addressed envelope. Currently I make my living teaching papercrafting, and am considered very good. Just offering.
I am tortured…tortured by my lack of the BCN book. I ordered back in March, but Amazon says it will not ship until after may 16…I will try to hang on 🙂 I do have my coffee mugs, prints, baseball shirts to comfort me…
I do not know, but I am hopeful that if this book sells well there will be more! (And this book sold out its first edition in pre-orders and is already on the second printing! Fingers–er, paws crossed!!)
Georgia,
I just wanted to tell you that I gave your book as part of my RedditGifts Presents for Pets Exchange. My match just got it and posted with the most fabulous title of “Human Reports: Gift is already in use by resident cat”. I hope I just introduced a whole passel of Torontonians to your beautiful art and on spot cattitudes! My black cat Mr Tigger is my “little spoon” every chance he gets. https://www.redditgifts.com/gallery/gift/human-reports-gift-already-use-resident/
Beatrix is based on a real cat, who sadly passed away a few years ago (never fear, Beatrix in the comic is here to stay! And honor her memory). I will share her story one day, but I will say now that she was every bit as marvelous as Beatrix in the comic, and an excellent climber too!
And the BCN media empire spreads! Woohoo!!
Those. T-Shirts. Are. Precious.
Must have t-shirt!!!!
C’mon Elvis!
Elvis <3
P.S. I will be holding the BCN book as I deliver my story in the eulogy
Upcoming Sunday.. 🙂
That is a beautiful honor for me as an author to hear that (and hopefully for your friend as a cat lover as well!) I hope it gives you a lot of comfort Chef Hom! Strength for Sunday!
i just recieved the book in the mail and im very excited to read through them again and show other people
Love it, love it, love it! Especialky the “shameless self-promotion” part. YOu go, girl! 😀❤️😻
Puffy Elvis will always win my heart 🙂
I got my copy of the “merchandise” on Saturday! Congratulations to Beatrix on her new position!
Thank you, Jim!!
Perfect introduction for the Book Store Cat!! Love it! Wonderful drawings as usual Georgia. Thank you so much!
Poor Elvis!
Floofy Elvis is Best Elvis.
Always
What a fantastic strip today Georgia! They just keep getting better and better. Now, can’t wait to get home am give my kitties and big hug!
What a happy Monday morning. Beatrix in her new home and Trevor happy with his new friend – what could be better? Also love that Beatrix will be the resident fact-checker. Reminds me of the old Spencer Tracy/Katherine Hepburn movie Desk Set.

Georgia, a question not related to this strip…

That is fabulous!!! Thank you!
My BCN book isn’t arriving until Thursday, June 16th!! 🙁 *weep* *sigh* It’s so not fair . . . . must be on a really slow boat to the UK.
Mine’s been here for days. Obviously, everyone must move to Japan!

I second that request! 😀 I would ADORE a colouring book!
Great job again Georgia! I like the Bookstore news icon. Trevor looks so happy to Beatrix at the store.
Have pre-ordered ‘The Breaking Cat News’ book. Shamelessly plugging merchandise nearly killed me laughing 😂
Haha!!! Thank you, Moll Cat 😀
The tshirts are the best. Hugs for all cats (its the internet, so Elvis can’t kill me)
Poor Elvis is so jealous! I hope Bea visits him soon! Congrats on the book coming out, Georgia! I pre-ordered on Amazon and I can’t wait for it to get here! My kids are going to flip out! xoxox JoAnn
Is that The Intruder visiting the store?
It is, indeed!
This is so beyond wonderful. Grinning ear to ear here. I wonder if Elvis and Trevor will ever meet – hmmm – not sure if they should. C’mon Elvis, to know him is to love him. I love it! Thank you Georgia for taking us to the bookstore

I see comics being read as bedtime stories for the next few weeks for the littlest ones. 😉
Thank you, Nicki!
Yep, the book was our bedtime reading last night. My son was howling with laughter (I do voices for each cat).
I am buying another copy for our cat sitter, who just became a grandmother so she can read it to her new grand baby.
“Shamelessly plugging merchandise…”
Love it! So happy to see Beatrix settling in and that big, beautiful smile on Trevor’s face!!! ❤
I like how there’s clearly a matching red “proud parent of a bookstore cat” shirt under Lupin’s jacket on the first frame, which you only realize on a second look.
Puffball Elvis made me laugh. So cute. P.S. The “Proud Parent of a Bookstore Cat” tee shirt is a great touch.
LOVE IT! Thanks for the pay-off, Georgia!
You’re welcome, Jackie! Thank you!!
I agree. Georgia, we need those t-shirts in the store. Can you get on that? 😉
I believe I can! I’m going to try to add a few things very shortly–including “Invisible Lupin” mugs. 😀
Love ‘Invisible Lupin’ 😍
Invisible Lupin mugs would be great!
Obviously those would be all white, since, he’s invisible! 🙂
What about Lupin “Skywalker” mugs?
Someday you should have some color change Mugs, where Lupin ‘dissapears’
lol Elvis puffed so hard I could practically feel a shockwave.
Beatrix in book warming mode is so stinking cute.
Trevor and Beatrix! Reunited! I can’t wait to see her perch on his head again!
Also love seeing Burt happily going about his AV Cat business in the background.
I can’t wait to see Beatrix pop in with fact checking on some of the more ‘colorful’ reports the boys give. 🙂
The boys t-shirts, the smile on Trevor’s face, and of course puffy Elvis !! Today’s BCN was a classic !! 😺
Trevor is a border collie! He is a really sweet dog in real life. 🙂
Shameless plugging indeed! 😊 And that last panel broke me x
Georgia – We really, truly need a set of mugs with all the Station Identifier logos on them! Including, of course, the new Bookstore Station. This is the Best. Strip. EVER! (^_^)
I agree, I love this idea! I hope to have some ready before this Christmas!

Squeeee!!!! My book is in the mail too. And today’s bookstore cat made my heart go all fuzzy 🙂 also, puffy Elvis in his keen t-shirt rules!!
Thank you, Kathy!!

Thank you, Martha! And yes! I hope Beatrix can rub off on the boys a bit!
YAY! (^_^)
My copy will be here tomorrow. It’s a big event for me. I will also go to my local bookstore and get another to support both you and them. I agree today’s strip rocks. The Shirts are so cool and happy Trevor warms my heart.
Thank you!! That is excellent!
I have an Amazon warehouse right near me, so I hope my book gets here as fast as my Harry Potter books did. I am forced to wait. I don’t have. Key to the mailbox. I WANT MY BOOK🎈🎈🎈
Books and cats and all that goes with them…and Trevor’s happy….and Poofy Elvis….and Be a is just so darn cute!!!! Best. Strip. Ever.
I know I’ve said that before but it’s always true!!!
Tomorrow’s mail can’t get here fast enough! Love this comic!!!
Signed Bookplates? I’ve seen authors do that in the past.
Keep up the outstanding work😘
I sincerely hope we’re setting up for a scenario where Beatrix the bookstore cat and Sophie the avid reader become friends.
Elvis’ shirt has me dying over here! I am at TF Greene waiting to board a flight to Chicago and I don’t want to look like an idiot laughing my head off! Love the BCN book promo, too!
So much greatness here! Love Elvis’ shirt, book wanting duty, and reactions to puffy Elvis! XD Wonderful!
*warming duty (though book wanting is nothing to be upset about 😉 ). Forgot to mention the book plug, which was excellent! 😀
Love the photo bomb in the next to last panel. My copy of BCN comes tomorrow 🙂 I may have to order another as a gift!
Omg I love this your doing a great job!
Great job, Georgia!
I really enjoy reading Breaking Cat News.
Today was a great day of expansion. I’m so happy the dog got his tea!
thanks for sharing with us.
How about a Tilly mug where she appears when a hot liquid is poured in.
That would be amazing!! I will have to look into that!
That is done with liquid crystal screen printing. I used to have them made when I was doing trade shows for the company I retired from.
Amazon will deliver my book tomorrow! So excited, can’t wait to read it all again!
Yay! I must go check my mailbox repeatedly! 😀
Super Puffy Elvis in the last panel wins the entire Internet.
Love Beatrix ‘s sweater set! Such a literary look. And that was Elvis’ best puff up yet.
But he has green eyes and pink paddy paws 🙂
Long time reader, first time commenter… I enjoy the strip very much and have reserved my copy of the book at Barnes & noble. Thanks for sharing another awesome strip!
Thank you so much, Luke! I don’t know if you know this, but Toddler’s real name is Luke too! 🙂
PUFF!!!! So great!!!! There are no words..Crying my eyes out 🙂
Georgia,if you decide to put out bookstore catcshirts, I want one, any thing to help shelter kitties!! Love the comic, Elvis is do kewl at the end panel!!
Puffy Elvis! 😹💖 I can’t wait to get my book tomorrow! Yay!
Twinkie recommends “The Cat Who …” series by Lillian Jackson Braun, which features two Siamese cats, Koko and Yum Yum.
One of my favorites too! Love Mrs Murphy. The Joe Grey series is another great cat mystery
Yea
Work blocks Breaking Cat News but not Go Comics. No logic to that. So now I can read it at work. I will still read the comments here, they are the best.
trevors so happy.
book will arrive in mail soon yippie
i noticed on your freebies page you have some coloring drawings to print out. would love to see more that are not holiday related. pretty please.
That will happen soon! I keep meaning to add more!
I don’t often “lol”… but those last two panes? yeah.
Oh my Cat Georgia! You just keep getting better and better! You bring an island of happiness twice a week, even when things at the shelter aren’t always so happy. Cat speed to you.
Got my copy of the book today! So happy!
YAY!!! Thank you!
I think you won’t be disappointed, Sue. 😉
I have to say I love Beatrix’ outfit — the Peter Pan collar is just perfect for her.
This was such a happy strip full of color! I loved it from first panel to poofy Elvis! I once knew a veterinary clinic cat who would hold the checkbook open for me to write the check.
The last 2 panels = BEST EVER!
I would love to see a photo of the real Elvis in puffed up mode, if one exists…
Elvis is Jelly-Belly since Trevor the Dog gets to share the bookstore with Elvis’s little kitten.
OMG THOSE SHIRTS!! I’M NOT CRYING YOU’RE CRYING!!T____T
Twinkle!! I’ve missed seeing you! Hope you are doing well!
Would love a coloring book as well!
Thank you, Terry!! 😀 I hope you weren’t too sleepy this morning!
Love Elvis getting all puffy when he sees Trevor (the guard dog)……..
Hello Georgia,
I just got my Kindle copy of Breaking Cat News. Love it!! I’m so glad you’re a fan of bookstores and libraries as well.
Yay!! Thank you! And yes–my Mom was a librarian when I was growing up. I spent many hours between the stacks, curled up reading books. 🙂
Bea is such a happy kitty. She is going to be a fantastic correspondent. (Love her with her fangy smile.)
My roommate and I are getting kittens next week, and my little Portia looks a whole lot like Beatrice! Portia will be spending much time with books, too, since I’m a confirmed bibliophile/addict. Must pick up a copy of the shamelessly plugged book for the apartment coffee table!
Yay! Congrats on the kittens! And I love the name!
Very eager for today’s mail delivery. Ordered 10 copies to share with family and friends!
I’m so excited about getting the book today that I ordered a men’s baseball ‘maam?’ shirt. lol
Yay!! Thank you!
Come on Elvis, don’t be jealous. Also love Burt’s background cameo setting up Bee Tricks’ equipment.
Amazon email tells me BCN book is to be delivered today. Can’t wait to get home!
Great strip about Beatrix! Amazon says my book has been delivered. Not In the mailbox, the Studebaker (where they leave packages so they don’t have to come down our treacherous driveway), or on the porch (If UPS delivers). I suspect I may have robber mice.
I’m kind of amazed the boys didn’t realize that Trevor was the book store dog?
I want to know how the guys got their “Proud Parents of..” t-shirts made so quickly! Mine always take a couple of weeks for a custom job and it’s only been a day or two (story-wise) since Beatrix got her new job!
Oh, did I mention that I LOVE your strip and that between the coffee mugs, t-shirts, wall-hangings and the soon to be delivered book, my condo is beginning to look like a BCN gift shop??
Hahaha!!! That is excellent, Rosemary! Thank you!!
Please make a Pile of Cats tee shirt with Beatrix on it.
YAY!!! Got my copy of BCN today!
Update: I GOT MY BOOK!!!!!!
Made it home — there it was. Read it already. WONDERFUL!!!
Can we see more of Louis? (I’m going to assign the French pronunciation to that name. Make’s us think of Pepe LePew)
I definitely want to bring Louie back at some point! To be honest, I meant to earlier and somehow it just hasn’t happened yet.
My son was on BCN book count down. To our relief, It arrived at the very end of the day. Great quality paper!
Love elvis’s tshirt.
Hooray! I’m delighted he was counting down!!
Got my book yesterday and the copy I ordered for my girlfriend’s daughters. Read it and enjoyed revisiting the first strips. Yay for BCN success!
I must say that I will miss the longer strips when you go daily. But as long as you’re happy, I’m happy. 🙂
Thank you Jenna! I will too, I have to admit. However–the good news is, certain headlines play out over a few daily strips, so often times a story will unfold over a week or two. I think that will be a lot of fun in the shorter daily strips, but it is something I am getting used to as well!
Who says you have to keep them short? It is a webcomic after all
Simple block lettering = goode olde fashioned heat transfer letters, done while you wait, not a custom screen print job.
Got my shamelessly plugged merchandise on yesterday.
Thank you, Dr. Joe!
OMG Beatrix’s little fangs! *melt*. I wonder if she still has her baby teeth?
And the pic of her on the stack of books is so darling…that would look wonderful on a bookmark don’t you think?
Now I’m curious. Who/what animal is Louis/Louie?
Louie is a skunk. 🙂
I ordered back in March, but Amazon says it will not ship until after may 16…I will try to hang on 🙂 I do have my coffee mugs, prints, baseball shirts to comfort me…
How long do we have to wait for the next BCN book? I would love to have the volume with the Tommy/Elvis Christmas story.
I do not know, but I am hopeful that if this book sells well there will be more! (And this book sold out its first edition in pre-orders and is already on the second printing! Fingers–er, paws crossed!!)
The book arrived yesterday, and it was great fun to re-read the early strips. Thank you again for making our days a bit brighter!
Thank you, Robin!
Got my book, read and loved it. Reviewed it on Goodreads. Five stars,of course!
Thank you!!!
This is the best for ideas and such bloopers!
Georgia,
I just wanted to tell you that I gave your book as part of my RedditGifts Presents for Pets Exchange.
Thank you so much, Marsha!!!
Is Beatrix based on a real cat that you know, or is she totally fictional?
Beatrix is based on a real cat, who sadly passed away a few years ago (never fear, Beatrix in the comic is here to stay! And honor her memory). I will share her story one day, but I will say now that she was every bit as marvelous as Beatrix in the comic, and an excellent climber too!
I am so glad to hear you sold out your first printing in preorders.
I won’t worry, now, about only getting the Kindle edition.
