Elephants.
All cats are tiny elephants, at 2 a.m.
They spend their days soaking up sunlight, converting it into mass for when they compete in the Middle-of-the-Night Olympics.
*dying laughing* Of course it’s 2am! When else would it be?
“actually a tiny horse” – I think I had a couple buffalo at one time. Isn’t it amazing how loud they can be?
It really is amazing how one little cat can sound like an elephant running around the house, and then feel like they weigh 300 lbs when they land on your chest, isn’t it?
That’s probably my favorite one because it was near Halloween & you carefully added the detail of their apartment being decorated for Dia de los Muertos in contrast to “standard” Halloween decorations.
Merlin is surprisingly a really mellow, calm, go-with-the-flo kitty! Elvis and he look nearly identical, but their personalities could not be more different, haha!!
Cats do not play “Fetch” it’s called “Toss” when cats play it. (As in you Toss the toy and the cat plays with until they get bored and bring it back to you to Toss again.)
I have one cat who like to play Toss. Usually when I’m trying to sleep she will bring me a small toy and tap my arm until I toss it.
I have heard of many other cats also playing this game.
So funny! My Harvey has played fetch since he was a kitten (now 18 years old). He taught me! : ) I had no idea before then that cats would do that! His brother can’t grasp the concept–he just stand backs an watches in disbelief! : )
My cat Clark used to play fetch all the time, but every time his brother Lewie saw him do it he would smack him upside the head. It’s like he was saying, “For pete’s sake, act like a cat, Clark!”
I have a cat that has started playing “fetch” by himself. He carries his toy up to the top of the landing, drops it off the balcony and down into the foyer, runs down the steps to retrieve his prize, then starts all over again.
Windows has a snipping tool you can use to grab just that part of the comic, then if you can find an alert system for your phone that allows you to set a custom picture, you can use it (you’ll just have to send the picture from your computer to your phone first. You should be able to do that by plugging into computer and manually moving file)
We have a baby gate across one hallway and only 2 out of 4 kitties can jump it. One, a dainty 13-year-old dilute tortie, just sails across most of the time (though sometimes she climbs it), but the other young (and not small) boy uses the top of the gate as a springboard sometimes, so that’s even louder.
“Stretch – Let’s do this!” Love it! My girls will deign to play fetch when they figure I need to be amused. My Wendy is “ThunderPaws” to her adoring fans. She usually works the apartment circuit between when I come home from work and kitty suppertime.
Awww…Puck climbing the gate daintily with his 3 legs…deaf Lupin not knowing how loud he is…their special needs just make them all the more adorable. And yay, the upstairs kitties are back!!!
Is he a tiny horse? He might be. They have those, you know. Maybe have a horse whisperer check him. Wait, he’s deaf… Well, there must be a way to tell.
“A Tiny Horse…” Heh, it about sums it up.
We have several black barncats that go up on the roof all the time and the only way to know is to see them.
Then there is a Siamese who is maybe 2/3s their size but sounds like a herd of horses up there…
Just love this strip, from the water bottle, gym clothes, “let’s do it!” attitude to the way Puck is slow and steady to the soaring Lupin leaps! It’s nice to see our upstairs kitties doing the news, too.
Wonderful strip! I love every panel. Of the three cats that have owned me, two have played “Go Get It.” We do not say the F(etch) word because we do not speak dog.
I absolutely adore the look on Puck’s face as he makes his swan dive and perfect landing. Trust Lupin to have more enthusiasm than finesse, haha. And it always makes me happy to see the upstairs cats make an appearance. Great strip!
The Mexican(?) news channel cats are my fave cameo characters. I see a lot of news casts from Mexico in Spanish because I live very close to the border and it reminds me of those.
I don’t know if it’s deaf kitty thing or not but you have perfectly captured the sound and appearance of my deaf boy Dudley landing. He sounds like a “tiny horse” that has fainted.
I can still remember that when I was a toddler my parents installed a wooden baby door at the top of the stairs. I used to like drooling on it. If we’d had cats it probably would have got scratched to pieces.
at 2am all cats are tiny horses!
Yes. Yes they are.
Elephants.

That’s a real thing the Man loves to say about Lupin, ha!! He certainly sounds like one sometimes!
I’ve got tiny buffalo but it’s literally the same! Love this!
My cat is a tiny elephant, especially at 2 am when he jumps onto my chest.
It really is amazing how one little cat can sound like an elephant running around the house, and then feel like they weigh 300 lbs when they land on your chest, isn’t it?
Yep. My 22 lb baby was like that. He was either a “small tiger” or a “microphant”. Poor Leif! Miss him.
Can’t…stop…laughing!
Adorable sports gear, adorable running of the cats
Who is this female cat in the last panel? I’m a bit confused.
That is Tabitha from the apartment upstairs. She and her friend there (Sir Figaro Newton) have only been in a few of the strips. Here is a link to their first appearance! http://www.breakingcatnews.com/comic/there-are-other-cats-in-the-building/
That’s probably my favorite one because it was near Halloween & you carefully added the detail of their apartment being decorated for Dia de los Muertos in contrast to “standard” Halloween decorations.
Thank you! Now I got it!
I think I saw the strip a long time ago and just forgot. It’s actually really funny now that I’m in on the joke.
🙂
Haha, we make that tiny-dog joke all the time. Have you ever heard of a cat that actually plays fetch?
Crazily enough, Elvis’s brother Merlin plays fetch! (A friend of mine owns him). But he’s the only one I had ever heard of before now!
One of my kitties, Maggie, plays fetch with plastic bottle caps.
Elvis has a brother, does he go all puffy too????
Merlin is surprisingly a really mellow, calm, go-with-the-flo kitty! Elvis and he look nearly identical, but their personalities could not be more different, haha!!
Would love to see them meet in cartoon form – Elvis meets his nemesis – a bit like Sherlock and Mycroft.
Cats do not play “Fetch” it’s called “Toss” when cats play it. (As in you Toss the toy and the cat plays with until they get bored and bring it back to you to Toss again.)

Awww, yes! This exactly what my Raggie plays! When she was a kitten it was poor fetch, now that she is not so naive it is Toss!
Miss Nina plays “fetch” although she prefers to call it “mousie toss”… (will also chase and return her tinsel ball and the catnip fishie)
So funny! My Harvey has played fetch since he was a kitten (now 18 years old). He taught me! : ) I had no idea before then that cats would do that! His brother can’t grasp the concept–he just stand backs an watches in disbelief! : )
One of my three fetches.
Buddy liked played fetch when he was younger – and I think if we got rid of the younger cat (Pond) he probably would again, in celebration.
My cat Clark used to play fetch all the time, but every time his brother Lewie saw him do it he would smack him upside the head. It’s like he was saying, “For pete’s sake, act like a cat, Clark!”

I need panel 2 to pop up on my phone whenever it’s time to work out! I AM DYING OF CUTE.

obviously don’t post it online anywhere without giving Georgia credit. I’d also link it to the full comic if you are going to do that.
*tears* the workout clothes, the comments, the neighbors, the joy of the activity. spot on. “good deal on Lupin” Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!
Awesome strip! My friend has a cat that will play fetch. I have always said that my cats are like wildebeest crossing the Serengeti at 2am.

The CN-brand water bottle!
New merch?
When I lived in a place with stairs and only two cats I said they sounded like elephants.
“Stretch – Let’s do this!” Love it! My girls will deign to play fetch when they figure I need to be amused. My Wendy is “ThunderPaws” to her adoring fans. She usually works the apartment circuit between when I come home from work and kitty suppertime.
LOL, I thought the “hurdles” were to keep the kitties from the midnight-romping-crazies!
the sports water bottle! challenge met! yay Lupin….
Oh, Pucky! I say exactly the same things during a workout!
The watch on Elvis’ ‘wrist’ is to die for!
I’m guessing the Spanish is “what do you hear?”
Yes! Nailed it!
Awww…Puck climbing the gate daintily with his 3 legs…deaf Lupin not knowing how loud he is…their special needs just make them all the more adorable. And yay, the upstairs kitties are back!!!

I have a baby gate to keep the dog out of the cat litter. Midnight crashing is a sound I’m used to.
Our cat sounds like a rampaging elephant when she thunders around the house. The pitter patter of enormous paws can be very loud!
Just love this strip, from the water bottle, gym clothes, “let’s do it!” attitude to the way Puck is slow and steady to the soaring Lupin leaps! It’s nice to see our upstairs kitties doing the news, too.
My day is complete! LOL! Hilarious and perfectly charming! Thanks.
Wonderful strip! I love every panel. Of the three cats that have owned me, two have played “Go Get It.” We do not say the F(etch) word because we do not speak dog.
Our tortoseshell kitten beat 2 sets of gates in about 5 minutes. Prepping for the Olympics. Can you hear the theme from Chariots of Fire?
I absolutely adore the look on Puck’s face as he makes his swan dive and perfect landing. Trust Lupin to have more enthusiasm than finesse, haha. And it always makes me happy to see the upstairs cats make an appearance. Great strip!
Thank you, Caitlin!
Gatos Nuevos rides again! (Did I remember that right?)
I’ve had de Noticias, I like the sound of Nuevos, though! A friend often assists me in their translations, I may see if that would work too 🙂
No, gatos nuevos would be new cats, as in the opposite of old cats.
Ahhh!!! Thank you very much, Chelle!
Thanks Chelle, now we know why i failed Spanish class back in high school. =)
To what is Rumba supposed to translate? Are the ceiling cats saying it sounds like they are dancing?
I was thinking more the running sound of the paws right before the leap. I like the dancing, though, ha!
Puck totally makes this for me. He’s adorable!
Thank you, Aaron!! This is so close to his attitude when climbing–he’s such a good climber, too! Slow and steady to the top of the bookcase, ha!
I love the ceiling cats.
1.) Reminds me of the 2AM running at grandma’s house.
Always finishes on top of the guest bed, then they realize I’m visiting, and
They scatter!
2.) And how is it the baby doesn’t wake up due to the
“Tiny horses”??
3.) I’m making panel 2, my profile pic for Facebook
*nod nod*
We believe he has come to sleep through (most) of the cat races/crashes/sounds luckily! He’s a good sleeper, we lucked out!
The Mexican(?) news channel cats are my fave cameo characters. I see a lot of news casts from Mexico in Spanish because I live very close to the border and it reminds me of those.
THOE- Max, the Psyco Kitty, likes this game. (Thundering Herd Of Elephants)
I don’t know if it’s deaf kitty thing or not but you have perfectly captured the sound and appearance of my deaf boy Dudley landing. He sounds like a “tiny horse” that has fainted.
I am constantly surprised how 6 pounds of cat can sound like 2,000 pounds of buffalo.
I can still remember that when I was a toddler my parents installed a wooden baby door at the top of the stairs. I used to like drooling on it. If we’d had cats it probably would have got scratched to pieces.
“Soar like an eagle….land like a rock!” Inspired words that should be printed on a T-Shirt!!
Dogs? No. Buffalo? No. Elephants? No.
Cats are really a species of gazellephants.
I love that!!
Uh,Elvis?Puck?Lupin? Those are not hurdles. And rumba rumba rumba rumba
rumba wump?
